If I could give more than 5 stars I would, that is how great Jan and Steve are at German Autotech. I recently purchased a 2020 Mercedes Benz E63S, and I wanted to get it tuned since I wanted more power from the car. So I went and bought a stage 1 tune and CPC module from Eurocharged, and called German Autotech since they were a licensed and authorized retailer that Eurocharged recommended on their website. I called German Autotech and spoke to Jan and from the moment I spoke to him it was as if I am talking to someone who is looking out for me, and looking out for my own interests as well. I told him that I wanted to install a tune on my car, and I told him that I am looking for more pull/torque past 3rd and 4th gear. When I told him that he immediately knew what I meant and could relate to what I was saying from his long term experience. He explained to me that getting a stage 1 tune from Eurocharged will be a massive performance gain, and that I shouldn't go full on crazy just yet. He was advising me to install the stage 1 ECU tune first and try it out, because he knew how powerful the car would get. After he said that I took his word and setup an appointment. Appointment day comes and I drop off the car, he told me that he will have it done in 2 days, and that he'll test everything and make sure everything is working properly. 2 days pass by and he calls me telling me that my car is done. First thing I ask him is how good is the car now??? He answers by laughing and says brother you're gonna have a lot of fun and that I'll really enjoy the performance. After he said that I was even more excited to pick up my car and drive it! Next day I pick up my car and warm up the car like Jan recommended, after I warm up the car I then gassed it and I was in shock at how much more powerful my car had gotten! It was a night and day difference from when I originally got the car, and all the credit goes to German Autotech and Jan. Jan did an incredible job, and was even nice enough to call me later that day to follow up with me to make sure everything was good and if I had any questions. I've called the shop to ask a couple of questions about my future repair needs and he picked up the phone (it's always great to talk to an owner directly). I own a business in the repair industry too and I felt like I was talking to myself. He treated me like I treat my customers - just straightforward and honest answers, no customer service BS (like how can we make you happy, we need to look at your car first, blah blah blah). I have always been impressed with his attention to detail and his high standard of workmanship. When i bought my E320 Mercedes wagon, there's no one else i would consider taking my car to. He took my wagon to another level. He lowered it with H and R springs, put on a set of C63 19 inch staggered wheels, high end Michelin tires, amg E55 front brakes, stainless steel header exhaust system, and then he put the super tune on the wagon by chipping the computer. I was having some bizarre inconsistent running issues with my C55 AMG. It's an 13 year old car, but has very low miles for its age. Gave them a call and set up an appointment for a diagnosis, a couple days later I received a call back with a FIX to my problem. Yes, order the parts needed and install... yon help me with my 02 bmw m3 when I could not pass smog. he told me to come see him and I did, he connected to the OBD ll and told me that I needed to force the monitor open, he gave me instructions and I followed them as close as I could, and it worked. so many others gave bad advice and no advice. this guy is the real deal when it come to what he does. and I have another appointment with him soon to have a complete evaluation. I was so surprised by the treatment and service I received, after a long time friend referred me to this establishment. I was talked to badly and insulted, when I went to ask the owner Jan, when I could pick up my car. He was more than unprofessional he was down right rude. He told me he would call me and that there were other appointments coming in and he would finish up my car when he could. He had already had my car for 3 days at this point. When I did pick up the car we paid $1,000 more than the estimated price, The car had 1/2 tank of gas gone and 30 plus miles on my Audi! When I got in my car, my cell phone was no longer paired, like it had been prior to taking it to German Autotech. It was now paired to some guys phone named Gilbert! WTH!!! It seems the owner allowed someone else to drive my car, when it was in for some intake cleaning. I am very nervous about the work that was done on my Audi. I don't even know where to begin.... Let's start back in 2007 when I got my first BMW. It was a 330i and friends kept telling me to buy used carefully, that these cars can suck up your money. Well they are right. it costs an arm and a leg to maintain a used BMW. I went through 4 different mechanics who seemed to understand but really didn't. I loved my car but it just kept breaking down. Then one day my 17 year old son was driving it, with me in the car, and he was sideswiped by another vehicle and it was deemed a total loss. Fast forward to 2013....I delved back into the land of used BMW's and found my 4 door E36 M3 5 speed that I was pining after. Yes I read multitudes of reviews and reasons to not buy it! Such as, constantly breaking down, overheating issues, Vanos, rattling noises, cracked subframe issues and too many more to list. What they don't mention much is how much fun these cars are!! Wow!! So I bit the bullet and got one...1997, 4 door M3 5 Speed. Again the issue of finding a mechanic that understands what I want! I wanted to work on the car myself (with friends) and try to do most of the repairs...HAHAHA what a pipe dream!! I went through 5 different mechanics who really did not understand the idiosyncrasies that these cars have! And they also, more importantly, didn't understand what I really wanted. Then along comes Jan (pronounced Yawn). What a guy!! These are the kind of people that I want to give my business to and work with. He listened to what I wanted. To resurrect an e36 that hadn't been destroyed by kids and still was in great visual condition but needed more things than I cared to admit. To make it a daily driver but perform well on the track too!! He has been able to diagnose issues no one else has had a clue with. I am saved and you can be too..... I picked up my car just last week and he replaced/repaired my driveshaft, flywheel, crankshaft, rear control arms and fastidiously rebuilt the shifter assembly along with several other important items. The vibration I have had for the last couple of years is gone. Several other mechanics had diagnosed other possible issues but all of them were wrong! Jan was able to get to the bottom of it. He quoted me for labor to locate some electrical starting issues. He diagnosed the crankshaft sensor. So he replaced it and after testing the car another day realized that it was better but still not completely fixed. So he took off the labor (reason being that he didn't really fix the problem yet) and left the new sensor in place. Who does stuff like that. While he had the car he also noticed I only had one key. The original one which was quite worn out. The key was having issues and not being smooth when I tried to unlock the doors or start the car. He made me 2 brand new keys (with the little light button on them) made sure they worked properly with the electronics of the car and did it for less than just my cost for the keys doing it myself!! I never asked for that but he explained that an old worn key can cause damage to a tumbler over time and that would be way more expensive to repair than just getting new keys made. It now works seamlessly and the shifter has never been smoother too. There were several other things that he did which also went above and beyond. He is a very knowledgeable mechanic who happens to be an HONEST mechanic that cares about his work and his customers!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

My 2003 BMW E46 M3 has had the service engine light on for some time now--I knew it was a VANOS issue but after being quoted at multiple thousands of dollars for the repair, I kept putting it off until I could afford it. But I was prompted to address the issues with my vehicle when the battery warning light showed up on the dash the other week. Since my usual shops were unable to squeeze me into their schedules, I turned to Jan at German Autotech and I'm very glad I did. Not only did he address the battery warning light (Jan replaced my alternator with a BRAND NEW alternator rather than a rebuilt or refurbished one), he also was able to fix my VANOS issue for less than HALF the quoted prices I had been receiving. Jan and his team at German Autotech treat your car like it's their own--and it shows. They washed my car, vacuumed the interior, dressed the tires, and when I came to pick the car up it looked like it could have been on the showroom floor. After coming to German Autotech, it would be a crime for me to take my car anywhere else in the future. The guys at German Autotech know their German automobiles--especially the E46 generation of BMW--and I would trust them with my car any day of the week. One aspect I particularly like about Jan and his team is that they explain to you what repairs they make, why they are necessary, and how they approach the problem, which reassures me that they know exactly what they are doing and that they're actively trying to save you money. Moreover, the customer service is incredible--Jan called me the following afternoon just to check up on how the car is performing after the service. Now THAT'S how you do business. Let me start off by saying that I am a mechanic by trade so it pains me to take my car to have it worked on by someone else. But I am a toyota lexus mechanic, I work long hours and I am not 100% familiar with German cars nor do I have the specialty tools for German cars. Besides, I work on cars all day so the last thing I want to do is work on cars when I get home. Therefore, in the essence of time and getting the car back on the road asap I decided to bring it to German Auto Tech to address the issues. I had heard excellent things about this company and I was referred to them by of my own several customers. My car threw a check engine light a few days ago, it started to feel sluggish at higher speeds, I began to hear intermittent clunking coming from underneath and it basically needed a lot of maintenance. It has 130k miles and I'm not sure what services were done to it because I just bought it a few months ago. It ran fine when I bought it then all these symptoms started to appear within the last month. Upon arrival Jan already had his suspicions what was causing these problems. He informed me of the common issues with these cars so he obviously had plenty of experience with them. I dropped it off in the morning and later that day he called to inform me of the current issues and future services needed but not immediately necessary. He gave me a written estimate of the work, parts and he spent a lot of time explaining everything in great detail. When the car was finished I swear it was like a brand new car. Jan fixed all the issues, showed me the failed parts and why they failed and he informed me of some preventative maintenance and things I could do that would help the car's longevity. He never up sold anything. He never tacked on extra work (this means that his initial estimate and diagnosis was spot on). He was always very conscious of cost and he saved me a lot of money. What I really like is that I was always informed about my car, Jan constantly communicated with me throughout the whole process.
