After buying my BMW 335is with ~140k miles, I wanted to do things the right way. Please do not go to him. I had a transmission installed on my 1968 Camaro by him and he was confident that he could do it correctly and did not. 1. The output seal was leaking and i sent him a video to ask when i can bring it in he said he is super busy i said ok. Next week asked him again because i brought it to a 2nd mechanic and the reason it was leaking because the drive shaft was too long and asked Rod when can i bring it in he said "let me figure it out" and i never heard back from till this day! 2. The transmission has a slipping problem and he does not care to even fix it and he did not even try to drive the car because he said it would not start. Mind you we gave him the car when it started and he told my dad and i he can keep the car and figure it out but would rather not work on it, so we had it towed home and to do our own digging we seen that the starter wire was tied up hidden and we put a new starter in and plugged it in and it started up perfectly. So the thought of bringing it back to him makes me think he will sabotage the car more just to get more money out of me. So now Theres a possibility where i have to get the transmission redone. 3. He will ask you to cash app him to pay his workers that he cannot pay himself. We sent him a total of $5k for horrible work that we have to just eat and go get it fixed by people who know what they are doing. He will not send you an invoice so beware! 4. Not sure about all the reviews for RA Motorwerkz and Rod. I can't speak to his diagnostic abilities or his responsiveness for his repair customers. I can; however, speak to his business ethics and morals. I bought a S54 motor from him that he was selling on Craigslist and dropped off a second S54 motor for him to put on a pallet and ship to me. I had a friend check Rod's motor and his shop while dropping off the second motor and everything seemed legit. However, when I received the delivery, I found that Rod had not sent the complete motor I purchased but just the block (the difference is about $1K in accessories that I was planning to remove and sell to help with the cost of the motor). In addition, Rod removed the exhaust manifold from the second motor without my permission--I believe that's called stealing, at least in my book. I tried to reach out to Rod after I received the engines to make things right, but after a feeble "I'll offer you a good trade for the exhaust headers that I removed" he quickly blocked my cell number. While I was visiting family near his shop, I tried to drop by to see if Rod wanted to make things right. I met a fellow at the shop who spoke perfect English until I mentioned that I needed to speak to Rod about a problem. Then he said "English no good". I have no idea what Rod looks like and that could have been him for all I know. I even texted Rod from my other phone number giving him yet another opportunity to make things right, but no response. And here we are--I try not to post these types of reviews as I feel they come off as whining and entitled, but it's the only avenue I have with Rod and RA Motorwerkz to try to be made whole. read more
