My 2014 X1 suddenly died on the freeway at 10:30 at night. I live really far away and towing it all the way home just sounded like a silly idea. Opened up Yelp and found this place was only a mile and a half away. I had it towed there and dropped my key in the dropbox. Called them first thing in the morning and they were great. The first day I feel like was kind of wasted (they spent the day trying to charge my battery apparently), but they had my car fixed and back to me by the second afternoon. It's the first time I've had to have any kind of an emergency repair on any of my BMWs, so yeah it was expensive, but not really sure how that could be avoided. Steve was fantastic and worked with me on the price a little bit. I was just glad to have my car back. Would recommend and will return for any future issues. This shop is owned by CROOKS! STAY AWAY!!! I was quoted $1k for a valve cover replacement for an 54. As soon as the vehicle was delivered, I received a call stating that parts have gone up in price and it's now a $1414.00 job (parts going up over $400.00 in a few hours). After a day, I received another call stating they need more parts and the total cost will be $1717.00. Keep in mind that book for this job is about $900.00. I paid the inflated amount and after a few miles the CEL was on again with the same code that it went into this shop. Scary to think how a more complex issue would get fixed. I own a 2013 Mercedes E350 Cabriolet. Found German Motors via Yelp based on their rating plus interaction over the phone to set an appointment. The appointment was to mount a 1 1/4 inch bike receiver hitch. Based on my error, I had ordered the wrong after market part and Ralph immediately called me to present options. Although none of the options worked the reason for the five star rating was due to the professional customer service both Ralph and Dan demonstrated in trying to assist and problem solve. It demonstrated to me if they take this kind of care prior to install or work on my car - the actual work desired would have been done professionally and right. Bottom line I am shifting my service needs to German Motors as like many, thought my only option was the Mercedes Dealership. Excellent service. Have been taking my BMWs here for over 10 years. They are always up front about what has to be taken care of and what can wait and what I should plan for based on mileage, which really helps for budgeting. I have a 2008 BMW X5. One day it wouldn't start. I had it towed to German Motors. Shortly after they received my vehicle, I received a call. They diagnosed the problem (it was the starter). The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. They did their due diligence to get to the root of the problem and not just give me the run around of what the problem could be. OMG. Pinocchio is alive and well at German motors! Elizabeth pretended she was capable of repairing my car! Although she came highly recommended....she had no idea and clearly had never done this job! She made false claims and " had to hang up and get a drink of water" when her lies where confronted. She kept my car for 2 weeks and then cancelled the job. Clearly NOTHING WAS done in the 2 weeks! Her response... " we learn as we grow"! REALLY! Not on my JAG!!!!!! She made promises she never kept.. "I'll give you daily updates". Never! When I asked for them and for pictures of the progress, she cancelled.the job! Ultimately, it was a 2 week car wash!!! She seemed very sweet but clearly not off more than she can chew! read more

My car was broken down about 2 miles away so he recommended a tow service he does business with. They were also very nice & billed through the garage. My car was at German Motors very early the next morning. Repair began quickly. Car was ready by lunchtime. Here's what's important: - They arranged for me to drop off the key after closing time. (Employee was working late & was expecting me out back.) - They did only the repairs I came in for. - They pointed out that my wheels were out of alignment and my tires were worn and suggested fixing them (without being pushy). - Their price was very reasonable. No upsells or add-on costs. Came in below estimate. - Relationship with the towing company enabled me to pay entire bill in one place. - They did the repair very quickly. Job well done. I have had my MB serviced at a few "boutique" shops and German Motors was the most expensive, ridiculously expensive. Suggested $467 for a front wheel bearing repack, got it done at Les Schwabb (who is qualified to work on foreign cars) for $95 plus $50 for front seals. Extremely snooty, just like MB of Sacramento. I was left wondering if their service was dusted with gold flakes after being made aware of their prices. There are way more reasonable shops out there without the attitude. Why pay a Mercedes Benz Tax when it isn't necessary? read more

Was referred to German Motors by Stewarts Auto & I couldn't be happier! I reversed out of my parking spot this morning and scraped my passenger side along a white wooden pole which left white paint on the side of my car. I was soooo scared it would be an expensive fix as most are on my LR2 and was very nervous about going to a new place. I spoke with Steve & Ralph, both we're very helpful. I'm not sure who helped me when I arrived, I believe it was Steve. He got the paint off my car in 15 minutes during my lunch break FREE OF CHARGE! German Motors has always taken great care of my Z4M. They have kept it in great shape. Regardless of the wear and tear I put on the vehicle, every time I get it back it feels new again. Anyone with a BMW knows the sheer joy of hammering the accelerator, and these guys make sure that smile returns each time I crank the ignition. They've done my filters, oil changes, tires, spark plugs, balancing and alignment, and repair on the S54 Vanos oil pump. All the expertise from BMW certified mechanics, with a much more personal relationship. Wouldn't take my M series anywhere else. read more

I have heard stories and dealt with a number of different mechanics and garages over the years and at this point, I'm always skeptical and general do not trust places, I always go and get a second opinion. With that being said, I took my X5 to get a second opinion after one shop had quoted me around anywhere from 16-2500 regarding an issue with my brakes. I was shocked as I had just had my brakes replaced. I then took it to German motors, they too felt it was the same thing the other guys had diagnosed, but I asked for them to give me a night to think about it. After a few missed calls from them, I finally called and was ready to tell them to go ahead and let's make the repairs. Was looking at around 2,000 if recall correctly. (I also double checked the price of parts (stepdads family owns a few NAPA's) and got an idea on labor from back home East Coast )and I will say German motors was spot on and very competitive with pricing as well. SO I make the return call and I got probably some of the best news I've ever gotten concerning a car. There Mechanic had fixed the issue when giving it one more look over. It was an issue with the actual pedal and something blocking it from fully depressing. So, I essentially went from 2k to under $200 (they addressed several other issues for me as well, was a great deal and cheaper than originally quoted). So these guys very easily could have pocketed 2k like some mechanics sadly do, but they didn't. I can honestly say I trust these guys and that's very difficult for me to do with all the stories you hear from nightmare garages and or mechanics. I can say with 100% confidence that these guys have morals and are as honest as they come. If you're on the fence about where to take your vehicle, especially a German vehicle. You have found the place, I wouldn't go anywhere else. In addition to the above, they are friendly, work extremely fast, communicate well with multiple calls, the place is clean, it's easy to find, and it's accessible. I can't say enough how grateful I am for German Motors. I have a VW Passat Wagon that I dearly love and German Motets is the reason that my next car will also be a German car. Seriously, my decision for my next car is heavily weighted by the fact that I want to stay with German Motors. Everyone at German Motors is so nice and trustworthy. I was recommended to come here. The person that estimate my car first asked me if I know anything about cars...hmmm lesson learned, if any body shop ever ask me that again..RUN FAST! Anyways the person that deal with me was very nice, called me 2 to 3xs a day till I finally brought my car in to get it fix, she told me she was going to call me to let me know what's going on with the car but I didn't get no phone call whatsoever till the day b4 to pick up my car after 3 weeks. Got there, the car look like crap, so very sloppy work, u can tell the paint work was also sloppy too. There's small paint chips inside door area. And at least wash my car b4 u give it back to me. Never ever come here again and would never recommend anyone I know to come here. Smh. read more

After my service experience, I will return here if I need any help or advice with my BMW. Somebody stomped on the roof of my car. (I know it makes no sense.) The staff at German Motors was very kind and friendly, as this was the first time I've had to get body repairs so I wasn't quite sure what I was doing. I was given a great estimate in comparison to 4 different shops I tried nearby. They estimated the job would take a week, which sucked, but I was sent a text everyday with a picture of the progress on my repair, and was surprised to recieve a call only 3 days later telling me my car was ready for pick up! I returned to the shop to see my car repaired as if nothing had ever happened and the guys were also kind enough to completely wash my car and clean my rims too! My wife took her car here for some body work. Elizabeth assured my wife that German Motors would resolve all insurance issues directly with other motorist insurer . On a separate note, my wife had asked about getting a scratch fixed as well. The body work that was preformed was hardly up to satisfaction. Then on the additional "scratch" repair, a quote was never given, consent to do the work wasn't given, yet when she went to pick up her mercedez, she was told by SCOTT (the manager) she is to pay approx $667.00 or she could t pick up her car. It has been over a month of waiting for someone to figure out how to refund the money that was never agreed upon or given consent to do. We have emails of ELIZABETH instructing my wife to file a claim with her insurance company, and they would in return give my wife the $1000 deductible... insurance fraud?
