And then there were tons of food sellers, the knife sharpener, etc. There was a community farm that had crafts for kids with paint made from herbs. We got gelato, bagels, and kettle corn. There were many other temptations, and lots of places were giving samples. Everyone was friendly, it was a perfect day to be outside, and the market is arranged well. Though it is spread out enough to give an old guy's knees a workout. Parking is nuts, but there were occasional spots in the area.

They have granola, veggies, honey, baked goods, tamales, cheesecake, pasta, etc. There's about 10-12 stands. All nicely spaced out down south Dawson Ave. between Main street and Brydn. You can also find a bunch of free parking along the streets in the neighborhood. Prices are typical for markets, as the quality of the items usually go above and beyond. Definitely spot by if this sounds like your jam (and yes they have that too).

The ambiance is very family friendly, dog friendly and includive. Great vibe! It has gotten considerably larger since they moved it to the big public lot behind Jimmy V's. The market was celebrating its 10th anniversary and was giving out free reusable sacks to every person/family that entered, which was a nice bonus! Our small dog, Loki was given his pre market pep talk (by his humans) of no barking and no fighting with the big dogs or taking ice cream out of babes hands.... He promised to be on biscuits best behavior. There were plenty of dogs there.... Loki was happy about that. Kids werent off the rails here, that was nice. However, people need to realize not every dog wants a human, kid or big dog to surprise it to say hello without asking its owner first. there may or may not of been a bit of barking at that occasion. Lol. There was a nice selection of vendors. Many local farmers. Good selection of freshly butchered meats. We left with some lamb, Tulip Cafe desserts and a dozen pierogis from our most fav vendor "Sweet Cle-bus" I have to give the vendor, Tulip Cafe, big props. Seldom do I think a cookie is worth 3 dollars let alone four... but their nutella cookie is completely worth it. I would of been buying this often and by the dozens if my kids were still little. Its the perfect amount of sweetness and you just feel better about it being made with Nutella vs chocolate. Would of had a close up picture for you all but I ate it and did not and would not share. It's not huge, and we easily walked back and forth through the market quickly. We ended up with some delicious sweet peaches (they had both yellow and white on offer), a really nice loaf of cinnamon chip bread, and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. Good stop if you're in the area on a Tuesday or Friday!

I always come away with some happy combo of cheeses, coffee, fresh flowers, and/or baked goods. There are typically only 2-3 produce vendors, so the lines for those do tend to be long. They usually have one food truck onsite. Parking can be tough to find in the Tremont Center parking lot on market day, but the residential side streets are a good back up. Today they had live steel drum music, which really added to the experience.

They had to move it because Littleton's opened, and uses the parking lot, plus there's the new shelter, which is nice but takes yet more of the lot. Now the market is in the street between the parking lot and the church. Strung out, instead of in a more compact rectangle. Not a huge issue if you can walk fine, but with a senior and a kid in tow- hell, with two bad knees myself- it makes it harder. Speaking of walking, the "walkways" in the parking lot are ridiculous, and dangerous. Interrupted by trees taking up the entire width of the walkway, plus rocks at one end. You have to walk across uneven surfaces or out into the narrow, busy lanes of the lot itself. And then the market is directly beside the lane by the mailboxes, putting people right into traffic. Sad to think someone actually designed it this way on purpose.

I finally made it out today, the last market of the season. One of the vendors told me that about…read morehalf of the vendors were absent, possibly due to it being the final day. Still, I had a good first-time visit. We checked out almost all of the booths and sampled several spots, settling on popcorn from Tasha's Carmel Corn. I purchased the Peanut Butter Cup, but I easily saw myself emptying my pockets to buy everything else I tasted. We stopped by Sarah's Sweets, where I tried various chocolates. The real winner to me was the coconut. Very sweet, but a dream for coconut fans. Another great spot was Allison's Challah, who sells Traditional Jewish Bread. It was flavored with honey and I can just see myself trying all kinds of combinations with it. Even though it was the final day of the season, I was delighted to learn that they will begin the "winter season" market, next door, next Thursday (Oct. 5)! Being the first one for the season, I'm sure it should have full attendance from the vendors so I'll be back and will let you know what I thought.

They have pumpkins, fresh apples and veggies, and lots of local Knick knacks through the store including jams, pancake mix, and the sort. Garb an apple cider slushee if you stop by. It's delicious! This market takes place from 9 - 1 pm on the first and third Saturday of the month, from June to October. They have just about everything you'd get from the larger markets, but at a smaller scale. There are multiple produce vendors, several of which are truly urban farmers as they grow their items right down the street from the market; can you get any more fresh than that? Highland Youth Garden is usually here, so you can get fresh veggies from smiling children who are growing and learning about the plants, then taking them to market to sell. We have a local coffee roaster, several amazing jam-makers, local honey, mushrooms, and a fantastic meat/egg vendor as well. The Veggie SNAP program is offered here, so if you bring your SNAP card, you can receive DOUBLE the amount of funds toward purchasing fresh produce. They also take credit cards, so if you're strapped for cash you can exchange credit for tokens. The first market of the month typically has cooking demonstrations from Local Matters, so you can learn how to cook with the seasonal produce you're buying! Lots of available parking on the street or in a church lot across W. Broad St. This market may be small, but it is mighty. Come out and see what makes this area of town so special; affordable prices, easily accessible, and really friendly people!
