Great place to visit and stay a while. Had the pleasure to meet Ken and a few staff members and they gave me and my friend the best tasting experience I have had so far in Temecula. Tried a few wines and chatted up with staff about what their favorite wine is and a little background on how their wine is produced. This place is very fancy and laid back at the same time. Complimentary thin bread sticks and water just give that added touch. I am making it a habit to stop here every time I'm in Temecula. During the summer of 2012, I was challenged by the TVWA to create a video of the area I live in for an online contest, Temecula Valley Wine Country. My wife and I approached all of the winery owners for video interviews and tastings and have since tasted over 80% of the wines in this region personally for vintages ranging from 2007 through 2011 and some from last week. Along the way, (The Middle of the De Portola Trail to be exact, we met the Owners of Gershon Bachus Vintners and their very talented winemaker Joe Vizcaino. What an amazing group of people who love to share their knowledge and commitment to the joy of wine making. Its a fresh breath to be able to sit down with the winemaker and owners to sample their finest wines instead of feeling shuffled at times through an often mismatched menu or pressured to join a wine club. GBV isn't the type of place where roaring drunkards come through in party busses. This is a wine tasters dream. After interviewing 13+ local wineries for our wedding venue, Gershon Bachus was an easy choice. Christina was absolutely incredible from our very first meeting. Here's why you should choose this venue for your wedding: - The owner/coordinator. Christina is amazing at what she does. Right from the start she'll treat you as a friend, not a customer and help guide you along the way and on the day of. - They are closed to the public the day of your wedding. I challenge you to find another local winery that will do this for you....you won't. - The staff. The staff here are like one big family working in unison to make everything go smoothly and offer a 10+ experience to you and your guests. - The food. Sorrel's bistro who caters weddings here is INCREDIBLE. The menu choices are high quality, high class, and the opposite of "wedding food". - The preferred vendors. The preferred vendors were also top notch and absolutely incredible. Christina went well above and beyond her role of coordinator and became a friend. She helped my wife with the expected day of malfunctions (hair, make-up, dress, etc) and even stayed after the event to help my bride deconstruct her hair. My wife and I spent the rainstorm of 2017 at GBV. It's a wonderfully small operation with small production. The quality of wine has been the best in the valley so far. The owner Ken sat with us and entertained us with small talk. The security staff, Franky and Rusty were happy go lucky but never dropped their guard. The wine maker Dakota, aka "Will Forte" knows his stuff and is also much fun. The best was our pourer, Kai. She was knowledgeable, sweet, and easy on the eyes. She went out of her way to make sure we had a special time. So well in fact we joined the Clique immediately and increased our tier after continued tasting. This is the only place in the valley that we visited twice. I would highly recommend this place! read more

What a beautiful, unique setting for a wedding, anniversary, or other special event. I had a reception for an "adult bat mitzvah" here in winter 2010. (I never had a bat mitzvah as a child so decided to do it as an adult and of course needed a fabulous party venue.) First off, the location is simply beautiful. It feels very secluded and quiet because this winery is on the De Portola Wine Trail, instead of Rancho California Road where the busier wineries are. You feel like you're a million miles away from it all even though it's an easy five minute drive from the heart of town. Imagine you had friends who had a winery estate and they turned it over to you for your party: that is the feeling you get when you have an event here. It feels very private and intimate. I appreciate that they purposely limit the number of events they do so they can focus on providing a wonderful experience to each party. There is definitely a lot of the personal touch in the experience. The event room is a roomy converted car garage (the owner is a car collector so it was originally imagined as a place for him to store his cars) and when they have it all decorated, it feels very intimate. The decor is simple and tasteful. The style is "upscale rustic." The grounds are really pretty at all times of year. The owners warned me that in December there would not be grapes on the vines, but the vineyard actually looked so pretty. It happened to be a drizzly, rainy day, but that made for a very cozy, atmospheric feeling. My guests took the most amazing pictures both indoors and outdoors. Complimentary valet parking for the guests is a nice touch. The driveway can be a little intimidating especially to out-of-towners so make sure to warn your guests in advance. (It's steep.) The food! Gershon Bachus uses the chef from Sorrel Bistro for their catering. This is not your typical rubber chicken banquet food. At all! You feel like you're eating a restaurant meal. My guests in particular seemed to like the "grown-up grilled cheese" which was grilled cheese with the chef's homemade onion marmalade. Their own wines are served too of course. We worked closely with the manager Joey V. and he did a great job. He is very personable and easy to work with. The whole day was low-stress and fun. I appreciated that I could relax and actually enjoy my own party. A definite recommend. read more

This winery was a wonderful surprise when wine tasting on De Portola Road. We were told that they are normally only open by appointment however, they would be open one day per month for a charity event. The tasting was a sit down tasting for $11.00 per person. The wine was exceptional for this area and the hospitality was second to none. If you are not in Temecula on one of Gershon Bachus's charity weekends, definitely pick up the phone and make arrangements for a tasting, you won't regret it. Also, they don't allow tour buses on their property! Highly Recommended. read more

GBV was a delightful find, and our last stop on our day of wine tasting in Temecula. It has beautiful grounds, and a large tasting room. I would describe it as a place for people who take their wine seriously. No Party buses. No Bachlorette parties. But, with that being said, do not get the idea that GBV is not a fun place. Our server was a woman named Amy. She was wonderful. Very funny and knowledgeable. The tasting fee was $16, with 5 pours. Their wines were very good. Full bodied and quite flavorful. We bought a bottle of of their Cabernet Franc, which was delicious. I was tempted to buy a bottle of their Cab Franc/Zinfindel blend. Delicious. My only negatives would be that the tasting fee was not comped with a purchase, as the wines are not inexpensive. Most bottles are in the mid $30-$50 range. In summation, this is a delightful winery with very good wines. Definitely worth the visit. read more

They do lots of weddings and events - and it's easy to understand why with the views and the space they have to offer. More importantly, super duper dog friendly. I had originally reviewed this back in 2007 when I had gotten married at the venue but I do not see my review anymore. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of returning to GBV again for our 5 year wedding anniversary for wine tasting on a recent weekend and let me tell you it is still as inviting and beautiful as ever. I will be brief with my words in regards to my wine tasting experience. The whole process was very intimate and it did not feel like I was at a "wine bar". Simply put this is where you need to be if you love good wine with one on one information from a friendly Sommelier. My Wife is a wedding coordinator in Orange County so I have been to a ton of wedding venues and you would be hard pressed to find anything like this one. The area where the ceremony takes place has picturesque views all around. The grand entrance for the bride is through a set of double doors and down 5 steps to the 65 foot aisle. It is truly what everyone means when they say "grand entrance". It was defiantly awe inspiring for our guests. The cocktail area is a covered area below the ceremony area where you guests can mingle and enjoy the tasty hors d'oeuvres while you sneak out to take your romantic photos in the vines. There are also hand painted murals that add just the right amount of details to the area. The reception/dining area is perfect. Doors on both sides of the dining area so it is a great mix of outdoor/indoor with different view of the outdoor scenery on both sides. The wine is fantastic and in my opinion is some of best in the valley and the food is really top notch. The owners were always present to ensure that everything went off without a hitch throughout the night. They really do go the distance for every detail and were on top of everything through the entire planning process. My wife and I toured many of the venues out in Temecula and there was nothing that compared to GBV. They are also closed to the public on your special day. This detail ensures your privacy on your wedding day and no other venue offered that. Still 5 years later when I speak with our guests they still will mention how our wedding is still the most memorable they have ever attended. Quite the compliment. read more

Love this place. Have been tasting here...and also to a wedding here. The owners are pretty friendly...but Joe is the best. This place has some great reds (says my boyfriend). Check it out. It's easy to miss as you're driving down DePortola...but make sure that you take the time to explore Gershon. You won't be disappointed. ps. the tasting is very homey and down to earth, really kick back and enjoyable. if you're looking to purchase any of the bottles, be prepared to drop about 30-65 dollars depending on what you like. read more

I wanted to write an update because for some reason my review was filtered...not sure why. My husband and I got married at GBV in October 2010 and it was great. Christina was so helpful--she organized the vendors and made sure everything was running smoothly the day of the wedding. She also was very quick to respond to all of my slightly OCD emails during the planning stages, which I appreciated. The location is absolutely beautiful, feels very posh and private. People still mention to me how beautiful and special my wedding was... The wine is also great! We go back to visit for the Red Fest or whenever we are in Temecula. We have visited GBV quite a few times in the past few years. On our visit last Fall, we joined their club. We have visited a lot of wineries in Temecula and GBV is my favorite. We are not wine experts, but have been to Italy a couple of times and GBV quality of their wines is excellent. We enjoy their seated tasting and Howard is knowledgeable and personable. Even before joining, we tried wines that were not on the regular tasting menu. Especially enjoy when Kenny and Christina are there. Both are engaging and add so much to our experience. Truly one of the best vineyard and wedding experiences I've ever had! We showed up Friday afternoon for the rehearsal and we were greeted warmly and friendly by the owner Christina. She made sure that bride (and anyone else) had a glass of wine and gathered us to show us the next days events. I was immediately impressed when I met Christina! She's calm, cool, and collected and a strong leader. She put everyone at ease by showing the bridal party and parents what would happen for the procession. She took her time to explain the process, give options and suggestions and made sure we were all on the same page. Once I met her, I knew this would be one of the easiest bridesmaid-ships ever--she just took care of everything we needed and made it easy. Whenever an 'issue' came up (i.e. nervous parents' worrying), I made sure to remind them not to worry, we have Christina and this is not her first wedding here! The tasting room area was set up for wine tastings and I had the pleasure of meeting Ken, Christina's husband. You can see why this place is so wonderful. They both truly care that you have a calm, relaxing and delicious experience! Yummy reds! The dinner and dancing was held in the tasting room and it was set up very well. Good flow to the room and options of closing the doors if it gets chilly. Really, the wedding went off without any problems or worries. Such a great venue for an intimate wedding! I can truly say this is one on my favorite wineries and I will be back to visit Christina and Ken :) read more

My friends and I came in to this winery and it left such a bad taste in our mouths in a matter of minutes. As soon as we parked the owner came out and was being very rude in telling us that we needed to move our car, which by the way, it was not obvious where we needed to park. We had no problem moving our car, but it was his demeanor that put us off. Then once going in, we tried to get a glass and the wine server Howard told us we could not get a glass and that they do not care about us socializing there. I hate to admit it, but the first time I saw the beautiful Gershon Bachus Vinters was on an episode of the Real Housewives of Orange County (that scene where a wine server poured housewife Vicky a glass of red wine and welcomed her "to the dark side" was classic!) At the 2011 Winter Big Red Fest, we were lucky to be able to visit this exclusive winery - they are open only 64 days a year by appointment only, or for special events such as weddings. The stunning Tuscan-inspired villa sets the tone of luxury almost immediately. We tasted their 2008 Estate Grenache (wonderfully dry, heady, and fruity), Villa Vino Tutto Rosso (a limited edition "all red" mélange), and 2008 Estate Cabernet Franc (pale red yet bright in flavor). I noticed Gershon Bachus' wine labels read, "Wine of the Gods", and I concur! For the food pairing, we were served honey-blackberry BBQ pulled pork, accompanied with sweet cornbread pudding and a scallion slaw. After enjoying the food and wine, we had the pleasure of meeting Christine, the owner of Gershon Bachus, as well as the Big Red Wine Fest's chairperson. I was also lucky to have been sitting right across from David Finley, Gershon Bachus' resident wine educator who "schooled" us on the basics of winemaking and explained the science behind the dreaded red wine headache (note to self: never drink cheap red wine again!) read more

My parents ended up joining the "Wine Clique" here last Saturday. We came in for our first tasting experience, and were very impressed with how the tasting room is set up. You sit down to taste, which I liked. The tasting experience felt very intimate. We definitely enjoyed a number of the wines available, and even got to try a few that were off the wine list. My ONLY criticism is that there was a particularly yippy dog in the tasting room, I'm not sure if it belongs to the owners or what, but its high-pitched barking DID distract from the serenity of the scene a little bit. All vineyards offer their own take on the tasting experience. We enjoyed this much more than the our previous stop which had great views, wines and friendly staff, but lacked the warmth and knowledge offered by this hospitable family owned and operated spot. Wonderful views from the tasting room. The wines are dry and well crafted. The vibe is old school Tuscany, with a relaxed atmosphere. The seating is family style here at Large U shaped tables in an open air high ceiling room which allows for interaction with other visitors without being forced. The owners Christina & Kenny as well as Jeff & other staff were hospitable, knowledgeable and fun. This will be a stop whenever we are in town. read more

GBV is my favorite vineyard ever! The wine is amazing! I especially love their Auster, Cacus, and Anteros!!! Their staff is very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. My husband and I attended a wedding here in 2014, for a friend. It was a really nice location, but a little tucked away. Thankfully they paid for Valet so we didn't have to deal with wondering where to park. (You really have to go up a hill for it). Also thankfully we came earlier in the evening before the sunset. If we were to look for it at night, it would have been very difficult. it was a nice place, but I felt it was small. Also the reception room was very dim in lighting. However it's still a beautiful place and the food was delicious. Have not gone regular wine tasting here but they did have an open bar of a lot of wines and it was tasty, as well. My husband Steve and I love this winery! We think the wines here are the best in the Temecula Valley! We enjoy the owners, Ken and Christina and the other employees like Amy and Marcus also. It is a relaxed carefree atmosphere and we especially like that we can sit down at a table, meet new people and enjoy the breeze that blows through. I took a bottle of the 2008 Cab Franc blend to my optometrist in OC and he loved it!! Everytime I go to see Dr. Quon we talk about wine. My husband and I are attempting to visit each winery in the Temecula valley, and we came to Bachus because they were dog friendly in the tasting room. The winery has a wonderful room, but the tasting room does not take full advantage of the space with decor or imagination. Two very cute wiener dogs came out to visit our beagle upon arrival. The room is large but the sit down tasting area is a bit unimpressive. The gentleman that greeted us said they did their tasting different, and that you got a chance to try all their wines. The problem was they only had 5 wines on their tasting menu, one white and four reds. The cost of a tasting is $18 per person, and we felt that was a bit steep considering the small menu of available wines. We tried them all, and my favorite was the Cab. Kai was our server, and she was outstanding. She was very informative and friendly. I felt the tasting menu was small, however, the property itself has a wonderful view. read more

First of all, our server, Howard, was great. He was informative attentive and has a great sense of humor and customer service. I've been to many wineries in Temecula and have wanted to try this one every time I drive by. Today we went spontaneously. There is a great hilltop view (and a Tesla charging station if you happen to own one). The tasting room is a large event space that's has tables set up. They do tastings a little different from other wineries. You are seated at a table where the server is opposite from you and you get a menu with a score sheet with all their wines which you will get an overview and a tasting. You also get breadsticks and water served. The owners and their dogs were also there, it was a nice experience with a friendly atmosphere. I am glad I finally got to visit. I would definitely recommend visiting and joining their clique (wine club). As stated before, they do things different. And this is a case where different is good. read more

I attended a wedding here over the weekend which was stunning. The bride and groom seemed very pleased with everything and as a guest it was very comfortable. They have beautiful views and a large outdoor area.
