While searching for winery wedding venues, we stumbled across Gershon Bachus Vintners. After asking Christina, the owner, questions via email, we scheduled a tour for the following month. We took a tour of the winery the morning an actual wedding was going to happen. When we got into the reception room, little did I know that my boyfriend had secretly planned a surprise proposal for me at this private estate! Christina was gracious enough to coordinate with my now fiance and the vendors he hired for the proposal. If we could have a winery wedding, I would not hesitate to book them at the drop of a hat. Christina really takes heart into helping couples with coordinating weddings, and even setting up decorations and other items that the bride and groom bring for their big day. What a nice surprise this place was! We were driving down De Portola, I noticed the sign, and made BF turn the car around to go back. The winery is a huge Tuscan style mansion, just gorgeous. You do your tasting in the garage of the house. We walked in and saw tables. What? You mean we don't have to stand at a crowded bar? We can sit at a table and taste? As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a very nice man who told us to take a seat. He immediately brought us cups with water. They also provide you with a package of breadsticks, or what they called "free lunch." Very nice touches. Our server, Joe, was super friendly and funny. He didn't rush us, but he was very attentive. The wines were all very good. We tasted 2 whites and 3 reds. I'm not a huge red fan, but these were all good. On the tables they had books to look at, which helped us pass the time. My friend and I enjoyed looking through the "Wine Dogs" book, pictures of dogs that live at wineries. We had a great time here, and will be adding it to our regular rotation of wineries. read more

This is a dog-friendly winery! My friend and I went there for a wine-tasting but it was during the heatwave and we opted for just a glass of the white (we just wanted something cold lol). We brought her wiener dog in hopes it would be friend with the resident wiener-chihuahua dog (no puppy love). The winery is a seated one, so you can just sit with your friends or dogs and enjoy wine. Gershon Bachus is a true family owned and operated Winery. The owners are hands on and responsive regardless. We came for wine tasting and our friends booked their wedding. We just attending the wedding and it ran without a glitch. Christina was a Master in keeping everything on track. At the end of the day we were all fed well, liquidated with fabulous wine and had great fun. Kudos to GBV and their staff. read more

We were looking for a winery that we could sit down and do tastings. This was the only one we were able to find... It was the most expensive of all of the tastings we did, and you were not able to chose what you wanted to taste... they gave you a very small taste of 9 different wines. There was a gorgeous view from where we were sitting, but I think I would pass this winery on the next trip. They were talking negatively about the other wineries as well, which I thought was tacky. read more

Went here recently and had an amazing time. We were treated so nicely by the staff and even bumped into the owner who went out of his way to greet us. The wine is fantastic! There wasn't a single wine that I wasn't fully positive toward, and generally for me at wineries there is always at least one wine that I am just okay with. I look forward to coming back! As far as people lowering the rating because of masks, I find that silly. Yes, we are in a pandemic, but you have the choice to go out and taste wine. That is a luxury. If not, stay home, pick up the wine, or get vaccinated. This is a great business and deserves the positive ratings! read more

Came here for a girls day out tasting. Place was quiet and we were told it would be a 45 minute seated tasting. That's fine, although we really would rather have stood at a bar and tasted. It took almost 2 hours to get through the 6 tastings, complete with what the server tasted when he drinks it and a recipe for his food pairing. All the wine tasted the same except that some you swallowed and made that face you get when you barely can swallow it and others were a bit smoother but still just ehh. The dogs ran around and peed in front of our table-loved having that ambiance. Howard was a nice guy, and he did crack a lot of jokes, but talking crap about other wineries is just bad form. There's plenty of business for all of you. Honestly he couldn't save the experience,. We said during the tasting, and later, that this winery would be on our thanks but no thanks list. It just wasn't any good, but then again wine is subjective. There are better wineries with great views all throughout the valley. We won't be back and don't recommend it at all. read more

I came here at a friend's recommendation. They have seated tasting, where you sit at the table with other patrons and the host will go over the various wines available of tasting. It was a slow afternoon. Besides my husband and i, there were two smaller parties of 3-4 people. The owner has come down and chatted with us. I wasn't a fan of their wines. But wine tasting is very subjective, so it worth trying at least once. The thing that i was bummed about was how the owner offered the other guest a special chocolate and port paring, but didn't offer any to my husband and I. It seemed like she personally knew the party and I know that the chocolate/port was not part of the tasting we paid for. But honestly i felt that it was rude, we were sitting right in front of her and next to the other party. Oh well.. :( However our hostess was very nice and informative about the wines. I truly LOVE ALL the wines there!! The staff, Howard, Janis, Kai, and Jeff are very knowledgeable, informative, and friendly; furthermore, Dakota is a brilliant wine maker! 2/26/2016 We came to Gershon Bachus by recommendation from a friend. When we drove up the closed sign was still up but the gate was open so we still went in. The most hilarious thing happened we got off the car and we heard this loud motorcycle sound coming towards us from god knows where this guy rides up from the vines on an ATV and we break off laughing because we freaked out. Well...ended up being our pourer, he then explained he went to switch the sign we missed each other on the way up. The property is very beautiful, great views. This is by far the first sit down wine tasting ever & it was great! When we got there, there was a couple and our party of 6. We automatically got great customer service from Dakota aka ATV guy ... [later to find out he's the wine maker] The tasting is $18 for 6 wines off the tasting list. We got 3 bonus tasting from their reserve labels. Their tasting list is laminated & it has a rating system from 1 to 5 for you to rate as you taste. The first two wines were not to my liking[3], the last four were good [4]. Due to the smell & lingering after taste. Two the reserved were amazing Aeolus [5] & Erato [5], Sangiovese [4] I personally did not purchase any wine but overall our party did purchase a few bottles & due to our referral they were kind enough to give us the club discount. We, just the two of us, went yesterday. Had a great time. And we found the place perfectly COVID safe; masks, social distance, etc. Didn't see any dog poop but did see several ambassadors of the four legged kind and we loved it! Perfect gentle friendly dogs. The place is charming with nice views. The patios are pleasant and they have heaters. We loved the wines. Not all fantastic, but some were. Reasonable and good quality in the European style of wine artistry. Not California style 'fruit bombs' that our Euro friends call them, but layered subtle wines worth tasting and enjoying. This place is nothing short of "amazing", when I first saw pictures of it, I knew that this was perfect for my 'picnic' proposal. This is one of the 'BEST' Vineyards in Temecula Valley. It's small and quaint and the owners and employees are so friendly. We throughly enjoyed our time with Ken,Christina,Howard and Dakota. They make it seem like they have known you for years. We were so impressed we joined their Clique Wine Club as they will ship out of state to us in Arizona for no charge. Now to the Wine! WOW! We first visited Gershon in April of 2022 when we were looking for a wedding venue and immediately fell in love with the Tuscany feel of the winery! Oh and their Merlot! It is amazing!!! We booked with them and just had our wedding in April of 2023. It was the best day ever. The entire process was so smooth and easy!! They say planning a wedding is stressful and it is but I had absolutely no stress with the venue or food. Christina the owner and Stephanie the coordinator are amazing. They only do one wedding a weekend which is so nice, they allow you to bring decor and all your wedding items as early as Friday. They also allow you to come back the next day to collect them, which was great. Who wants to have to load up the truck with everything right after a wedding. Christina and Stephanie made sure our day was one of the best days ever. The venue is beautiful we received so many complements from our guest. The food was so good. Everyone loved the wine, even our non-wine drinkers loved the sparkling white wine!! We would definitely recommend this venue for your wedding, private event or even just for a wine tasting. read more

The event space and property is beautiful and scenic. The staff not so much. While we were happy to have an all-inclusive venue and a wedding coordinator, my wife and I were left uneasy when we did not use Christina's preferred vendors. Professional as they are, the florist, DJ, and photographers were not our style. Unfortunately, hiring outside vendors was a chore because the venue requires those not on the list to visit beforehand. In addition, we felt pressured to choose the preferred DJ when we revealed we were going with another vendor. Christina was very generous with decorations which made planning a lot easier. We had considered hiring a wedding coordinator of our own, but were assured by Christina that she would be attentive to our needs and walk us through our wedding. She was helpful with planning, the rehearsal and the day of by providing lists and walking us from point A to point B of the schedule. We stopped having a wedding coordinator though halfway through the reception. She and her friends proceeded to drink and socialize rather than seeing us through the entire reception (or at least until after dinner). We had to inform the DJ when the cake-cutting and bouquet toss should begin. Guests even commented on the small dinner party that had gathered that consisted of Christina and her friends. We wished we were informed that her friends were going to be in attendance on our wedding day, as opposed to having our guests point that our wedding coordinator was drunk and hosting a small party. We had an open bar and the servers were quick to bus half-drunk wine glasses from our guests, thereby increasing the amount of wine consumed. The beef was tough and chewy but the salmon and mashed potatoes were good. My wife couldn't even consume the beef because it was overcooked. Overall, our guests enjoyed themselves and the scenery, but we wished it would have been easier to hire our own vendors and that our wedding coordinator was not distracted by her own party. read more

Went for my 31st Birthday definitely recommended this winery, Fun Facts: Don't drink your wine too fast remember it's not beer, swirl with your wrist, Hungarian Oak is the way to go, don't be afraid to rank higher than 5, don't be offended if called kids, it's an endearment, don't be afraid to have nuts in your chocolate with your dessert wine. My fiancée and I scheduled 3 venues to check out in Temecula for our upcoming wedding. It was a looong day and Gershon was the last one on our list. The winery is slightly tucked away up on a hill. From the bottom of the road it can easily look like a secluded but beautiful villa overlooking the vast acres of Temecula. Christina is one of the owners and coordinator and she's super funny and welcoming. She handed us glasses of wine before giving us a tour of her peaceful abode. The property offers two ceremony sites--one is out in the open, right next to the house and the other is inside in case of inclement weather. For the outdoor site, (at the time) I loved the idea of the bride stepping out from the bridal suite with her father and walking down the stairs towards the aisle to her groom. That sounded lovely, but since then I had a terrible knee injury so stairways are very much my Everest right now. As mentioned, they offer a very cute bridal suite. The interior is very feminine and vintage--completely different from what you see from the outside. As for the reception/barrel room it's pretty spacious but a bit too rustic for me. I wasn't a fan of the ceiling draping. If there's no weddings or special events, they use a section of it for their weekend wine tastings. Gershon is a very quaint place. Unfortunately, it didn't "sing" to us so we passed on it, but if you're envisioning rustic, romantic and intimate then you should at least check this place out. Christina is very lovely and a must to meet. I think she filled our wine glasses 4 or 5 times over the course of the meeting. I'm not going to lie but I'm pretty sure I walked away warm and tipsy. read more

David and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at GBV on 10/25/14 and I have to say it was everything I could have dreamed for and MORE! Family and friends can't stop talking about the impeccable views, the food selection, music, and romantic feel. Christina was there every step of the way. Answered every email in a timely manner and truly made our wedding day so incredibly special. Our big day was just 72 hours ago and I catch myself daydreaming about it still. I am still picturing myself standing at the top of those stairs with my Dad at the base of the stairs looking up smiling at me with tears in his eyes. A memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. After the ceremony Christina had wine, appetizers, and cold beer waiting for our bridal party...which they enjoyed very much while taking the bridal party pictures. I am still receiving photos from my guests via email and text and every single picture is stunning! I decided to trust Christina's suggested vendor list and was beyond satisfied with Dennis (Temecula's Best DJ), Julie (Hulse Photography), Kim (Sweet Layers Bakery), and Stephanie (Sweet Pea Floral). All of which were so extremely professional and listened to everything I said and made sure they made my dream become a reality. I sat at our sweetheart table and told my now husband to look out at our guests and take it all in and to cherish every moment. The romance that filled the room with candles twinkling everywhere was just perfect. Smiles on all of our family and friends faces were priceless. Every penny was so worth it. The night went by in a blink of an eye. Oh how I wish I could have stopped time. I did not want the night to end and even asked my DJ to please play just one more song, which he gladly did. Beautiful place, ok wine... now why the one star may you ask... the owners are pushy, only want high end business and are mean to their staff. I went there with a girlfriend of mine. I am regular at several of the different wineries and was visiting Temecula for the day. While driving down De Portola, I saw this vineyard and decided to stop by. At first I thought it was going to be an intimate setting and we were going to be able to meet the owner and converse with him regarding the different wines and varietals they offer... wrong... Upon walking in, there was large table where there was one staff member and the husband/wife owners. The tasting itself is pretty decent. For $14 you get about 10 tastings. A bit much, but whatever. Everything was ok, until the husband owner started bossing around the staff. He was so condescending to his one worker! It was very off-putting. Then the wife owner walked around and she didn't greet anyone. I was actually looking at this place as a future place for a wedding, but not with this type of service. Both the husband and wife owner, never came by the drinking table, unless it was to yell at the one staff to pour them some more wine. I dont think we will ever come back.... read more

Our friends got married here last July and we all had a great time! My wife and I were actually in the bridal party so we were here for the rehearsal and for the wedding. I forget the name of the rehearsal coordinator lady, but she was friendly and efficient in getting all of us together to practice. The venue itself isn't obviously the biggest winery, but it sure is beautiful. Their bathrooms were still being remodeled, but the rest of the exterior and interior were all super clean. Driving on the rocks wasn't the best for some cars, but that probably would've been my only complaint. The pricing of the venue seemed on par with most other venues that we looked at, and I'd definitely recommend looking into this place for a wedding venue! read more

II just recently turned 21 last week and I wanted to celebrate it in a classy way -- of course I chose wine tasting instead of vegas! (because I have a vegas trip planned already!) Anyways, its Sunday afternoon and it was about our 2nd stop. We are driving up the hill, we see a women that is walking towards our van. As a group of 8 women, we were somewhat impressed with the "welcome committee." So, we open the door and not even a foot touches the ground when she says, after noticing the painted windows with "Happy Birthday! Lexi's 21st!" Oh, you're celebrating a 21st birthday, this is a quiet place and I think your birthday should be celebrated in a big way, and not here." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU SAY RUDE!!!!!!????!!!!?! Of course we closed the door and had no second thought of turning back. We visited other wineries and had the time of our lives!! I just wanted to share because I thought that was very very EXTREMELY rude of her to turn away business when they were no where close to closing time and their tasting area was EMPTY!! I guess she was implying that she does not want a small group of diverse women, ages 21-46 at her winery! I read all of these excellent reviews and I wonder why my experience was so awful and lackluster. First of all, wine tasting is $15. Fifteen dollars! Are you kidding me? Now, if they had poured decent tastes (and by decent, I mean more than a half a mouthful) and had they given us a choice of what we were tasting, I could have forgiven the higher than normal for the area pricing. One of the best wineries in that area, Frangipani, charges only $10--the pours are generous, and they make enough varieties of wine there that you can choose what you'd like to taste, rather than having it chosen for you. I digress....My fiance and I do not drink white wine, which one of the seven wines that are offered for tasting. Seven wines--$15. You would think then, that we would at least be poured a large enough portion to be able to enjoy the bouquet of the wine....not so. The first pour we received was the very end of the bottle--the sediment--the dregs--and it was less than a mouthful! Our pretentious, holier than thou sommelier, sniffed that we were receiving a good deal because they gave us SEVEN wines to taste--hello? We reminded him that we were not drinking the white. He grudgingly opened another bottle and added a few drops to the dregs we were given to taste. The entire "experience" felt and was rushed. We arrived at 4:30 and they supposedly do not close until 6:00 PM, but apparently, the owners were attending some charity event Saturday evening and it was clear that they really just wanted us all to leave. Consequently, every bottle we tasted was the very end of the bottle--tiny pours of about a half a mouthful, each containing so much sediment that we had to rinse our glasses between each so-called "tasting." I spent $32.62 with tax to drink sediment and have the sommelier rush us out the door. Way to sell your product. Additionally, from the tiny bit of information we gleaned through the sommelier's parsimonious explanations of the wine sludge we tasted, the grapes aren't even grown on site. As I remarked to my fiance as we drove away, the dead grapes hanging on the vines as you wind your way up to the winery should have been a dead give away. If I could give my experience there less than one star, I would. read more

This is an update to my previous review, which was a review of the winery. Now I am writing a review of Gershon Bachus Vinters as a wedding venue. My husband and I were recently married here and I give it two very enthusiastic thumbs up! (Clueless anyone?). Christina and Kenny, the owners of Gershon Bachus Vinters (GVB) earned every single one of the five stars that I have rated them. Our wedding was absolutely perfect in every way, and much of that is due to the: 1) Gorgeous estate that Kenny and Christina own and 2) Their phenomenal service, and their dedication to making our wedding (and all their guest's weddings) exceptional. On our wedding day, we were blessed with one of the most gorgeous sunsets I've ever seen, and we were able to thoroughly enjoy it due to the serenity of GBV and the 360 degree gorgeous view. One small example of how Kenny and Christina will go above and beyond to make your day special is that I forgot my garter. The next thing I knew, Christina tapped me on the shoulder and handed me a makeshift garter she had put together made of elastic and an orange flower - which even matched my wedding flowers. Christina and Kenny will be right there celebrating with you at your reception, which our guests totally loved. My husband and I looked at many wedding venues, both in the South Bay area and many wineries in Temecula. Gershon Bachus was BY FAR was the best venue we could have chosen, and for an amazing value for all that you get. The food was DELICIOUS, the wine is some of the best in the Temecula Valley (if not THE best in the valley), the location cannot be beat, and the service is outstanding. Your wine making talent is remarkable and the new Barbera is nothing short of amazing however, my favorite is always your cab franc. You're attention to allowing the true beauty of the varietal show in color, bouquet and palate while adding your own insight to taste are evident in every bottle. Hats are off to Kenny and Christina for the unique tasting room setup, wine clique and for recognizing a great wine maker to bring it all together. Great place to visit and stay a while. Had the pleasure to meet Ken and a few staff members and they gave me and my friend the best tasting experience I have had so far in Temecula. Tried a few wines and chatted up with staff about what their favorite wine is and a little background on how their wine is produced. This place is very fancy and laid back at the same time. Complimentary thin bread sticks and water just give that added touch. I am making it a habit to stop here every time I'm in Temecula.
