We initially hired Gerson and his small team to replace the carpet in our room with laminate. Gerson was prompt - he came for the initial estimate appointment and gave us a fair quote that was cheaper than the other two quotes we had received. He was also very flexible - we originally agreed to have this work done on a Thursday and Friday but needed to change to Sunday and Monday and he showed up as he stated (a bit later than he said the start time would be but we could always count on him to respond if we had questions about his whereabouts). Only thing that is a bit hard is that English is not his main language and so things like the contract for a price is a little off. He'll tell you the price but it's not in a contract so it's best you write it out to make sure you're understanding him correctly. He also offers add-on services for laminate such as removing and replacing the baseboards for extra so also good to clarify the numbers when he's offering those services. He finished the laminate and it blended into our current laminate so well we couldn't tell it was just installed! We liked his work so much that we asked him for a quote for the popcorn ceiling removal in all of the rooms in our home -- his quote was once again a price that was much lower than the rest of the other quotes we received. He finished both projects in two days and it was done beautifully and professionally. Gerson has an eye for making sure things are done correctly and is not shy to make suggestions for your next house project lol. Thank you Gerson for all of your great work. We had a scheduling glitch primarily due to language difficulties. But once we had figured that out, Gerson and his helper showed up early on the following Saturday and got the job done perfectly. Gerson installed carpet that I provided for 2 bedrooms and stairs. The stairs were open wrap around stairs. He charged $1200 for one days work. He said he had done this kind of stairs many times before. When he was done, the painters were painting and the stairs were covered. After I paid Gerson, the painters removed the covering on the stairs and I noticed he had not covered the side that faced the living room and the rusty metal was showing instead of carpet. I called him and he said that he would fix it. I had to buy more carpet because he had ruined the carpet on the stairs and when the carpet arrived I called him and he said he would come out to fix it. He gave me a time that he would be out and he didn't show up or answer my texts or phone calls. Also he asked me to pay him $100 for gas! I would never use him again because if you have a concern he is not going to fix it. Obviously he doesn't stand by his work. Awful business practice!! read more

Last week, my bathroom sink exploded from a burst water pipe , and started flooding my studio apt--and I mean FLOODING! 2", 3" in less than 5 minutes my apt was practically underwater. Luckily, Tony Drolapas (best LL ever), was nearby and rushed to the disaster. He brought a fan, a heavy duty heater, some mops, and we started mopping like crazy. It took 2-3 days before the apt. was dry enough to start cutting out the worst of the carpet. Using heavy duty shears, I cut out the worst part of the carpet and Mat, making a nice neat square of bare wood for the workmen to lay the new carpet on. The color wasn't an exact match, but close enough. Gerson Bustillo was thorough, exact, friendly, and everything you'd want in someone responding to a disaster like mine. A bottle of drain cleaner leaked onto our carpeted staircase, removing the color completely in three large spots. Since the carpet was no longer available, my supplier suggested removing a piece from one of our closets and using that for the stair step and then replacing the closet carpet with a remnant that came close to what we had. Gerson was more than helpful. He tried to find a remnant that matched, and when he couldn't, and I had to purchase a huge piece, he went and picked it up, came to the house and installed the carpet. The stair looks like all of the others; the closet looks just perfect. He and Carlos arrived on time, did an excellent job, and left my house immaculate.
