He was very clear not to over sell to me (even though I ended up going a bit overboard in the end on my own accord because I wanted to lol) but Joel was very clear that some of my stuff I didn't really need. I don't know if i can quite capture my Soundings experience in a review, but here goes. It was…read morenothing short of outstanding. The net of it is that there was never any pressure to buy - i had several interactions with the Soundings team over a period of about 18 months and both times they started with conversations about what I wanted to achieve from all perspectives - equipment, usage (music, film), and aesthetics. And at the outset of both interactions, they wanted simply to visit my home so they could understand the environment in which i was working. After the first interaction, i did nothing other than completely change my plans as i was in the midst of re-modeling my basement where i was planning to put the A/V equipment - most of which i already possessed. Once i completed that, i returned to Soundings and started over with Mark, who happened to be at the store when I arrived. Again, never any pressure to buy, but simply a conversation about what i wanted to do. At that point, most of it was related to A/V furniture and installation of a TV. We decided to add a subwoofer and replace some of the builder furnished in ceiling speakers. Once it was delivered and installed, then the fun really began. The Soundings master set process is truly amazing. I refer to the Soundings team now as the Sounder Whisperers. My stereo has never sounded so good. Mark arrived with several known source materials (audio and film) and we proceeded to spend several hours listening and using an organized process, making what are seemingly infinitesimally small movements in the placement of front, center, and sub speakers. This process truly fit the equipment to the room and sounded superb. Even though I was satisfied - i could still tell a difference in my 20+ year old equipment compared to some of the equipment i had listened to in the store. Moreover, my speakers were a little large for the space. Thus, i returned to the store, was encouraged to bring some source material, and then simply spent some time in one of the rooms and listened. To make a long story short, I decided to upgrade both my speakers and A/V receiver. It was a two step process as i didn't quite believe that the electronics could make such a huge difference in sound, but it was truly amazing. After a few months to let the equipment settle in, we repeated the master set process and I now have a sound system that matches the full sound i heard at the store. Whether it's listening to audio or watching a movie - the experience is wonderful. As i said, there was never any pressure to buy anything, just conversations around what i wanted to achieve. Certainly there are different price points to consider, but they have really done all of the research for you and what you'll find at Soundings is remarkable sound at each of their budget levels and a great staff that is truly interested in helping you achieve your A/V goals. Devon is now referring to him as someone I hired who could not do a good job and takes no responsibility for recommending equipment that failed. We worked diligently trying to get him to do the right thing and he ignored us, was rude and refused to return our money. My husband and I finally posted reviews of his theft and poor service. He responded saying I have mental and drug issues. Further, he threatened both of us...."I know where you live...karma is a bitch". We have reported him to the local police and are posting here in case he is foolish enough to bring harm to our house, Do not hire Devon unless you want to deal with a very disturbed young man who has no desire to treat his customers fairly and is merely in it for the money regardless of how he treats people.

They…read morehandled the installation of all the tech in my home theater during its construction -- including the LED strip lighting, starry sky ceiling with shooting starts + galaxy, a 116" TV, 7.2.4 Origin speakers, and full Control4 programming. This was a massive and incredibly involved project with a lot of custom details, and Steven and his team brought my vision to life exactly as I had imagined it. The custom starry sky ceiling was an especially difficult task but they handled the install very well and made sure it was sitting perfectly flush with the ceiling. This theater was a dream project for me, and I truly couldn't have asked for a better team to help make it happen. They were knowledgeable, meticulous, and great to work with throughout the entire process. I had such a great experience that I also hired them to install my home security system and cameras, and I'll absolutely continue using them for future AV projects. I can't recommend Steven, Zach, and the entire team enough!

The last contact that I had with Steven his, new…read moreand very young, assistant dropped a thousand dollar SONOS soundbar on a cement patio and, also, plugged an optical cable backwards, into a six thousand dollar outdoor TV, damaging both. After I texted Steven about it he texted me that we should just part ways. That, unfortunately, is just the tip of the iceberg. Over the last year, and after Steven had started a Thirty Thousand Dollar AV basement project for me, he consistently missed scheduled appointments, showed up late or showed up after getting in bar fights (Steven told me that). His senior tech Chris, who would often show up to work at my house very frustrated and without Steven would tell me he couldn't get in contact with Steven. Also, that he (Chris) didn't know what to do that day and was upset because Steven had a lot of frustrated customers. As you might guess, that basement project, which was supposed to be done by December 2019, is still incomplete and nothing works as promised. You may be asking yourself, "Why did he keep using Steven?". Well, that is exactly why I am writing this review. Although my wife often suggested that we bring in another company to finish the project it is very difficult and expensive to transfer the knowledge about your home AV/automation system to a new company. I wish I had listened to my wife, because the writing was on the wall the entire time and I only delayed the inevitable by continuing to use him. Ultimately, it cost me substantially more. In my opinion, there are much more trustworthy, competent and professional home automation/AV companies to let into your home and to, ultimately, enter into this type of ongoing relationship. Please choose better than I did.
