This is the best place for kids seasonal rentals and we've tried them all. The staff is so friendly and nice.

My friends and I wanted to try out cross-country skiing and saw that Seattle Ski and Snowboard had some we could rent. So I swung in here last Friday to see if I can put some on reserve to pickup the following day and they were more than happy to help me out! Friday I got fitted for the boots, skis, and poles. I filled out a short form and paid $38 for the rentals, and they allowed for my friends to pick them up the following day since we weren't planning on going until Sunday and I was busy Sat. So that $38 rental, means if you pickup Fri, you can return them Sunday for a 1 day rental fee. When I got fitted, the guy showed me how to clip in and out of the skis, and when I asked him if it's pretty easy to xc ski, he said there was no learning curve like downhill skiing and to watch a youtube video lol. Saturday when 2 of my friends and my significant other went into the shop, they said it was quite busy, they got fitted, and were out the door with no instructions. Which surprised me since I was told how to clip in and out of them, and they were not advised of that. Esp since they all mentioned this was going to be their 1st time xc skiing as well. But Kyle not only made my old Rossignols fit again, he actually made them really comfortable by remolding the boot and creating custom orthotics for me right on the spot. Overall ok experience. Daily rate with damage waiver ($15) is a little more expensive than the price in the resort. The skis they gave me are not completely new and has some scratches on the top surface. When I returned on, the guy found a scratch on the back (bottom of one ski). I did not expect that will be count as damage since it is the back. And in the resort, I never saw people check the returned skis that closely. But apparently, this shop does. Fortunately, I always purchase the damage waivers. So strongly recommend people do that with this shop. read more

I was looking for a local ski rental shop (to avoid the long lines and prices at the mountain) and am so happy to come across Seattle Ski & Snowboard! Keiser fitted me perfectly for boots, skis, and poles and the whole fitting took 20 minutes! Since they have everything in the system, it was super easy renting the second time...just gave them my name and everything was ready for pickup upon arrival. How breezy! The price tag is great, too - you can't beat $45 per person per day (go after 3pm and the day is free!). These guys are awesome and professional, and I highly recommend renting here. I don't ever leave negative reviews for small businesses. Oftentimes the bad experience I have had doesn't stick around for too long, but this one is as bad as the rotting fruit sitting on the kitchen counter, and it needs to be dealt with the right way. More people need to hear this. Tonight, I walked into the store because I think it's about time for me to finally own a pair of ski boots. I was then greeted by an older employee, gray hair with a blue flannel shirt, who later appeared to be the owner of this shop and he asked how I could be helped. I told him I wanted to buy some boots but was uncertain about which one to get, so I wanted to go into the store and try on a few. You know like what people do when they want to get some hiking shoes in Seattle - they walk into REI, try some on, and see which one fits them the best. So he sat me down and brought out 3-4 pairs of different ones for me to try on and compare. Towards the end, we found a pair that might work pretty well with my feet, but I wanted to sleep on it before making a final purchase. Then this man's face changed, and you could feel it in your gut that all the pleasant behaviors displayed was a show put on to force a transaction. I could tell that something snapped in his brain. He asked what was stopping me from buying the boots, and I said to him, I am about to drop 500 dollars, and I need to think about it. "You have an Epic Pass, and you can't afford to buy these boots?" He asked. At this point, I am already feeling pressured to make a purchase. I told him I got a discounted Epic Pass, so the cost of the boots was still a big amount to spend in comparison. As soon as he heard that I had a discounted Epic Pass, he snapped. "Oh you have a discounted pass? So then I am just wasting my time on you while I have other customers waiting around in the shop? ... I will meet you at the register up front, and I am going to ring you up for a boot fitting fee of 60 dollars." He said as he walked away from me. I regretted that I didn't make a scene because I paid for a service that I'd not been made aware of. I didn't go into the shop for a boot fitting appointment? I went into the shop to look around and seek answers to my brian's desire to predict what my experience is going to be when making an unfamiliar purchase. And if that comes with an additional consultation fee, the business needs to be transparent and simply ASKS the customer if they would like to continue shopping here. Had this man said "I can help answer your questions, BUT with a 60 dollars consultation fee that can be applied towards the final purchase. Oh by the way, the 60 dollars is non-refundable." I wouldn't have felt like I was baited into doing business with him. When I confronted this man about it, he said "I just spent an hour and a half with you, my time is valuable... I do boot fitting for national ski teams, so you're telling me my time is not valuable?" He then mustered his anger and said "500 dollars is nothing. My boots cost 1500 dollars." We have used Seattle ski and snowboard for 3 years now to season rentals. We went in today to just rent again and my husband just couldn't find a boot that worked. We had talked about buying last year and decided to explore that this year instead of renting. Insert Joe. He is new to the shop from glacier and is AMAZING! Incredibly knowledgeable, takes his time to really figure it all out, and fit my husbands boots to a T. He was personable and REALLY knows what he is doing. Upon reflection I upgraded to 5 stars. Staff genuinely wanted what was best for us. No pressure to buy. Kyle provided great service to us even though it was busy right when the store opened. My 24 yo son has developmental disabilities and a mom in a similar situation recommended this store to me. While I wanted to buy used, in the end there was a relatively reasonable pair of new boots that worked well for us. We looked at new skis but my budget wouldn't allow. Kyle was straightforward in saying that his used option wouldn't perform that much better than what we had already. So he checked and he could adjust the old bindings to fit the new boots and I have left the skis for a $35 tuneup. Now we just need snow on the slopes! read more

This place is incredible! I came here primarily for new, custom fitted boots. Joe helped me out from start to finish, and he answered every possible question I had while explaining details along the way. He hooked me up with perfectly fitted boots, custom footbeds, linings, and everything! I also needed to upgrade all my gear, so he helped by providing great recommendations and picking out exactly what I needed for how I ski. This place sucks. I have not returned here in seven years because they sold me boots that caused permanent nerve damage to the tips of my big toes by sizing me wrong. I still can't feel the tips of them, and refused to help me out, resize me or provide any sort of refund. Avoid at all costs. read more

This place is amazing! I was visiting the area and rented skis for the day and I was in and out within probably 30 minutes even though it was a busy time. I've had this board forever and haven't got around to getting some boots and bindings. I stopped by Seattle Ski & Snowboard and was greeted immediately by Kyle. Being a newbie, I don't know much about sizing, quality, costs, etc. I wanted some advice on the boots and bindings but also had to make it to a Christmas party in less than an hour. Kyle was patient with me as we looked through the boots and I asked for the cheapest ones at first, but found my eyes were looking at the much "prettier" more expensive boots. Kyle had me try on a few so I could see the difference in the boots and it was noticeable different! I left the shop in less than 45 minutes with a brand new pair of boots, bindings including installation. Their pricing is more than fair for the quality equipment they offer. My friend and I were trying to rent skis for a day trip to Mission ridge. The owner, Brian and associate, Kaiser, were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the products. They even helped us identify where we should go skiing, hotel ideas and really helped us plan an awesome weekend. Renting was 45 per person for one day and was just the same price as local ski places. Would suggest renting here instead of waiting in line at the resorts! I am not a regular yelp reviewer. In fact, this is my first yelp review. But I feel compelled to leave a note. I bought snowboard boots about 10 days ago and rode on them promptly afterward. However, they were a half a size too big! I was falling all over the mountain!! I brought them back to Seattle Ski & Snowboard and they graciously returned them and helped me with a new pair. Then! They heat molded the inserts to my feet! Just to make extra sure this new pair fit correctly. The salesmen here know the equipment backward and forward. To be clear, the reason I had bigger boots in the first place was I went against the salesmen's recommendation. I specifically have to recommend Rosie for helping me immensely find the right boot the second time. I must have been a nightmare, but tried my hardest to be gracious. She was helpful and made my shopping experience quite effortless. I will be going back to Seattle Ski & Snowboard for all of my winter sporting needs in the future. read more

I was a little nervous because I don't ski and was going in completely uneducated. I had a few friends who had talked about a few other rental places where the employees were cocky and not helpful. I've been using Yelp for food and business review for almost 20 years. I've never written a single review. I will never bring my skis or buy gear from anyone else. My wife got new boots/skis last year and I got new gear this year. I have worked in the customer service/technical space for over 20 years and know what it takes to leave a customer happy. We had two great experiences with Kyle both last year and again this year. He went above and beyond and made the process so easy. Every time I tried on a new pair of boots, he wasn't annoyed. I rate this store a 3 because when I first walked in and spoke to a gentleman about a string replacement on my snowboard boat , he was not friendly professional nor polite . Said might not be worth the price to fix better off buying new boots. The string string was 10 dollars , the boots are around 200 dollars . Didn't make sense to me . Not gonna buy new boots for a Steinem replacement. Spoke with another guy there that gave me an extra string so two new strings for $10. If I hadn't run into the other guy I would have given them a 4 1/2 but first impressions are vital and he didn't seem pleasant . After reading reviews I'm pretty sure the first guy I spoke with was Brian . Taller guy with brown hair ... not sure if it was him but lots of complaints about a guy name Brian read more

The customer service & expertise I have experienced at Seattle Ski & Snowboard have kept me making the 45 min drive to see them every year since I found them 4 years ago. The owner & staff are all 5 star-Plus! The few negative reviews on here in my opinion, are not accurate at all! I've also been a business owner for over 20 years. So many critics. Updated 6/17/22: They didn't charge me a late fee, a few days after the lower post I got an email with a due date 2 weeks later, which I met. I like the shop and the people I've worked with there were friendly and knowledgeable. I do think the emails and phone calls with miss-matched due dates is confusing and punishes people who try to follow the rules. read more

Belated review but worth it. Absolutely top-notch boot fitting. Got fitted for my first pair of ski boots here maybe 6-7 years ago towards the end of my first season skiing. (Note: if you are learning to ski, err on the side of buying boots early - you will learn SO much faster not fighting badly fitting rentals!) I must've been fitted by the owner or someone fairly senior. I have long and skinny feet. Despite my newbie status, he fitted me in racing boots because they tend to be lower volume for better control. My boots fit *fantastically*, I don't feel like I need to buckle them super tight to get control like I did with rentals, I'm never in pain, and I don't have to unbuckle them in between runs or even at lunch for comfort like other friends do. Once I got my own pair of boots and wasn't fighting bad fit from the rentals, my skiing skills increased MUCH more quickly and after 2-3 seasons, I could ski all the same runs as my friends who have been skiing much longer. read more

This place is amazing. I needed a place to get some bindings set. Every other place I called was booking two weeks out. Brian and his team took care of me same-day. They didn't try to upsell me on the bindings and they didn't laugh that my sticks are from a French outfit that went bankrupt in 2013. Ethan spent a full 40 mins adjusting my friend's board and working over a detailed boot fitting for gear she already owned. It was a super generous consultation - just because. Everyone was really knowledgeable without the ski shop snobbery. Zero mansplaining. Customer orientation. Perfect score. "Binding Guy" was pretty great too. read more

Great local shop. When I walked in, I was greeted and all of my questions answered. I have never had such great service. After doing hours or price shopping online, I came back 2 days later to purchase all of my gear for the 2010 season at Seattle Ski & Snowboard. (and I got a better deal then shopping online, got my stuff that day, and supported some cool local snow lovers!) *another update which I felt compelled to do, Brian and Kyle really took care of me. *they pulled some bindings off another pair and made my favorite old slalom skis see more miles, super happy *on top of it Kyle found a little 3mm bolt for my garments and dialed them in, great service and friendly folks, it's a seasonal shop so yes it will be crowded during (obvious) peak days so understand that and you're good. Some good local yocals A local ski/snowboard shop up north in a discrete looking house. I've passed by here many times and decided to venture in. The staff were really nice and helpful. They gave me a discount on some of the winter gear I got since it was May and the season is done. They definitely know their gear. One drawback was some of the sunglasses I bought I brought them back the next day b/c they gave me a bad headache when I wore them home. He inspected them for a good 5 minutes for scratches and I told him and showed him I bought them the day before and only wore them home. He kept me waiting until he could stare at them for a while. Not impressed. So if you're buying something service is great but when you are returning something brace yourself. I'm hoping the rest of my returns in the future aren't as disrespectful as that time b/c I'd really like to continue supporting them. read more
