    Giving a one have been far less than satisfactory due to lack of customer service and making Your customers jump Through hoops to receive simple assistance. The first issue was mild- charged for fuel even though I fueled the car. Submitted a ticket with no response ever. Second trip I discovered that the car smelled like marijuana and cigarettes (noted in my intake inspection) and also was full of trash. I disposed of the trash but I took photos and reported. Halfway through my trip I noticed a foul odor and discovered a bag of rotting trash in the trunk. I disputed this as well because frankly I was humiliated since it was discovered while visiting my mother. Last was the final straw. The night before Christmas even my trip was canceled by voicemail at 9pm with no effort to rebook me. Reason stated was that the car was impounded. I was thrown in a panic and also was very confused when I went on the app to see what my rebooking options were, to find the same car available but for DOUBLE the rate. I booked the next car I could afford only to get a text from the original car owner asking why I canceled! To be honest I felt confused as to why this person was texting me in the first place, but also then received a call from Getaround offering to help at 11pm. There was nothing they could do and the final solution was minimal returns of my money and no compensation for the incredible inconvenience this caused. Ivan was very helpful and listened to me freak out but I'm spreading the news to others- BEWARE. It's worth the extra money to go to zip car or traditional rental just for the peace of mind alone.

    App is very easy to use and reservations are quick to make. The worst experience I have had with this company is their claims department. They are terrible. I returned the rental in the first week of January and yet a final invoice is not available so my account has been placed on hold because I am under investigation. The vehicle was parked overnight when someone hit it. The damages are very small and yet it's taking this long to resolve. It's a headache just trying to reach a representative. Ticket#4773369

    Rideshare drivers - be aware that these cars are not ready for "ride with Uber" and there is no regard for earnings, driving time, or safety. Maintenance is NOT included or performed. Blown headlights/taillights, flat tire, brake warning lights etc. One vehicle had no rear brakes, bare pads were scraping loudly against the rotors with visible scoring. Support will provide two options - have the repair done at your cost and wait "2-5 business days" to be reimbursed, or return the car as it's taken offline and hope another one is available since no swap is arranged. (If you live in this area, you know how difficult it is to get vehicle service on short notice.) Next comes the vehicle condition. Rarely clean, personal belongings and fast food left behind, and half-filled gas tanks. You must spend the time, money, and lost earnings to clean the vehicle from the previous driver's mess or face additional fees, not to mention the impact on your ratings and tips if left dirty. Sure, getaround isn't responsible for a messy driver, but penalizing the next one into being a cleaning maid isn't a solution. Vehicles must be returned with a full tank of gas to avoid fees, but you'll hardly see a full tank at pickup time. You'll need to cover that difference and wait "2 to 5 business days" for reimbursement. (Most rental companies simply have vehicles returned with the same gas level the car had at pickup time. Seems to work.) Finally, the app can be slow and temperamental. See a common theme? If you're hoping to be on the road earning, prepare to 'getscrewed' and repeatedly taken off the road during periods of high demand, losing time and earnings. Not to worry, you'll get a promo code for a few dollars off the next rental.

    This is my new favorite place to rent small trucks which I do frequently for family business…read more Despite the urban location it's a good-sized lot so it feels safe to get in and out of the lot without getting dinged. (Boston is another story!) My brother-in-law was really surprised by the customer service. He's from out of town and actually said "I didn't expect that from a u-haul on the east coast." I wasn't surprised at all. My first interaction with the business was a chance encounter. I was waiting for a bus a little way down the road and an employee walked up and asked if I needed help. When I said no, he pointed out that the bus no longer stopped there. Wow. Talk about going out of your way and making your business look genuinely good! On my most recent rental, we worked with Justin and this is obviously a long-running family business he takes great pride in. We interacted with other employees as well who were very positive and professional. One thing we thought was really great was how the manager came out and helped validate/adjust our rear view mirrors, walked us through all the steps to getting ready that are easy to forget when you're in a rush to get on the road, but he did it in such a friendly way, it never felt like a waste of time, more like he just really cared about his business and us getting on our way safely. It didn't stop there, he gave us advice on a better place to leave our car, and left us feeling he wanted us to take his advice, not because it helped him in any way, but because he knew it would be easier and safer for us. That's probably never happened to me on the east coast. At least not at a rental place that often just wants you out of the way. For those who were confused and frustrated by u-haul's pricing, it's really pretty straight-forward. True, multi-day rentals get expensive, but for young people to expect someone is going to just "give them a break" and count a second day for free, that's just not the way I've ever seen these things work. So I'm sure there was some misunderstanding. Bottom line: great family run business that is aware of the big-picture around being genuine, and providing customer service so you can get what you need to done safely.

Before that, I stored…read morestuff from my college dorms and apartments over the summer, and used Uhaul trucks for move-ins and move-outs. I've used Uhaul probably 8-10 times in the last decade. But my most recent experience with them was so bad, I will never, ever used a UHaul again. In a nutshell, we were moving from one town to a neighboring town, and we had to move in and move out on different days. When I made the reservation online, I believe I requested that we pick up the truck at 8am and return truck at 5pm the following day. A month later, our contract says we have 24 hours and have to return the truck by 8am, which would obviously be impossible given our moving constraints. We told the Uhaul employee that we wanted to return it in the afternoon on the second day. He said that would be fine. The fee was a flat rate. Now, being generous here, maybe there was some sort of innocent miscommunication, on our part or theirs. Maybe the employee didnt hear or understand us. Maybe he forgot to mention the extra fee. Maybe we weren't as clear as we thought. Regardless, we believed we had permission to keep the truck passed 8am. So when we returned it midday (approx. 1pm), and we were given a late fee of about $50, we were surprised. The really bad experience, though, comes in how Uhaul employees treated us when we questioned the late fee. Throughout the entire complaint process, they were incredibly rude--to the point of meanness, treating us like we were liars, trying to swindle them out of $50 bucks. At one point one employee actually walked away while we were still speaking to him. We were yelled at, shuffled around from manager to manager, had our official complaint "closed" and marked as "resolved" when we'd spoken to none one, only gotten a voicemail. It's one thing to ultimately refuse to refund the late fee, but they did not have to treat us so poorly. That's why they've lost our business.

It was difficult to secure a 1 way this time of year from Cambridge to midwest. U-Haul dispatch in MA confirmed everything the Monday before pickup. Truck in excellent condition. Drove it 2 days west and will drop it next week at another location. We did see 2 big bugs in truck interior but were able to kill these before loading items. I know there are reviews talking about rodents in the storage location here. I am guessing this truck was moved to Cambridge for my 1 way since dispatch was working on my reservation. None sounds good, and several can kill you. ... Foodborne disease is transmitted through saliva, urine, and droppings. In the course of one day's food rummaging, a rat can unload 50 half-inch droppings. I understand you are not responsible for what happened to my belongings, due to the rodent problem.However, my storage unit was infested by rats, rat fences and destruction of my personal property. i.e. my polo jacket, khakis pants, comforter and my suitcase. Due the high probability of transmitting a deadly disease carried by rodent, I was forced to discard my belongings!!! These items were destroyed by rats eating, nesting and probably reproducing inside my storage unit # 366 located at your Uhaul location in Cambridge,MA 844 Main Street. 02139 I complained about my unit having been overturned by rodents, back in October 2017. But nothing really happened. I understand that unfortunately, there is a huge homeless, disenfranchised people that occupy your area. I was threatened by one of your ex-customers that , had a storage unit next to mine, a year ago. They started asking me for money, then the man became aggressive and threatened me! I called 911, a Cambridge, Massachusetts police officer arrived. When I told the officer what happened, they lied and changed their version of events. The officer, let them go with a warning. And I quickly left your Uhaul location and headed home! Another time, I came to your location early on a Sunday morning, I was stuck outside your Cambridge Uhaul location because your after hours access card would not work!!!!! A caucasian man with a seringe dangling out of his arm, stumbled down the sidewalk towards me. He asked me for money, I noticed he had dried up blood on his arm, I told him I didn't have any money and ran away! I contacted your Uhaul customer service number, and explained, I was being charged an extra $5 for after hours access, and still couldn't get inside!!! And I also believe some of them also rent storage units and probably store food items in those storage items, in your Cambridge,MA location. I am not blaming you for the staff at this particular U-lHaul l ocationor what happened to me me or the serious rodents problem in your location. But, my belongings should have been safe and not destroyed by disease carrying rodents!! I have spent in excess of $2,000.00 during the 2 1/2 years of being your customer. I am sorry, I had to terminate my business with Uhaul. But between the rodents destroying and contaminating my entire storage unit, also I am purchasing a home in March, and I am now storing in a friend's home, here in Brookline, MA. I considered leaving some of my personal items in my storage unit, in your Cambridge Uhaul location. Because I could not salvage those because they were too contaminated with rodent excrement and the possible spread of dangerous pathogens and disease! But, after I saw the extent of rodent damage , rat excrement all over my clothing, linens, luggage and basically the infestation and contamination of the entire unit, I decided to end my storage occupancy at this location.
