First of all, his background is very extenstive beyond any of the other docs I interviewed. He truly understands varicose veins, spider veins and the like, to a depth that no other doc could even hold a candle to. This enables him to explain vein issues, and in particular mine, and their REALISTIC solutions in a way that is understandable, caring, warm and with a great sense of humor! His bedside manner, as is his entire office staff and BEAUTIFUL, serenity provoking decor and music are unmatched. He is very honest, straightforward and beyond knowledgeable and professional. He was super honest about the results both good and not that could come from the removal of my varicose veins so that I would have realistic expectations. His staff worked diligently with my insurance so that I could get the most possible work covered. Him and his assistant kept me laughing and at ease through the entire seemingly daunting process of having my varicose veins removed from both legs (not both on the same day!) and with NO SCARRING!!! He left me valleys under my eye because he used the laser too high. He also used laser right under my nose and I had a scar there, but he made the scar five times worse. For the procedure, she didn't have gloves on or clean the area before injecting me which I've never experienced in a medical setting before. She also treated areas that I wasn't concerned with which later caused issues (pain which I had to come back in and be treated again at that site for - the pain eventually went away).

The procedures were much less painful than I had feared (really wasn't bad at all). I experienced only minimal discomfort afterward. I had EVLT and Varithena treatments performed on both legs. Sara was especially helpful with my insurance claim. Dr. Brooks was out of network, and when the insurance company requested detailed visit notes and other documentation, she provided everything I needed to support the claim. The team helped me select the right insurance plan during my open enrollment so my out of pocket would be minimal, and they were incredibly responsive via text to help with scheduling and initial questions. Dr. Brooks' bedside manner is amazing: calm, kind, and reassuring. When you sign forms for a "routine" vein procedure, you never think you'll be the worst-case scenario. I ended up with a few complications, and thankfully I chose the right doctor due to my pre-exisiting conditions. I first noticed vein issues when I was pregnant with my twins 10 years ago, and standing at their sports events recently made my leg pain unbearable. I finally came in and was told it was a straightforward procedure to fix everything. But I have a rare blood clotting disorder and migraines, and I ended up with a clot. Thankfully, Dr. Brooks checks and scans frequently after so they caught it right away, put me on blood thinners, and checked me 1-2x/week until they were sure I was safe. The clot cleared with blood thinners, we completed my other leg, and the team kept checking in on me. When I was anxious and sent photos over text of some swelling, they responded quickly and eased my fears, at all hours of the day and night. The entire office is warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. What felt like a scary journey for me ended with me knowing I'm clot-free and have the tools I need to stay safe, including guidance for flying so I don't have to fear surprise clots. All in all, I had three procedures done. Yes, it was uncomfortable and wearing compression socks all the time wasn't fun, but it was worth it. I feel healthy, pain free, and confident again and will be back for the cosmetic part soon. Dr. Brooks and his team didn't just treat my veins, they gave me peace of mind and probably saved my life.
