There are two Getboards locations in Big Bear, this one is the self launch location while the other one is at the dock. Opted for this location as the other location was completely out of SUPs, and the experience was awesome! Had to fill out the waiver form and pay before you can pick up the rental. The guys working here are cool and took the time to explain the rules before cutting us loose. The launch site is probably 100 feet from the shop, so it wasn't too bad of a walk and getting the SUPs and kayak launched was fairly easy. You do need to navigate your way out of the fairly shallow water (due to low water level at this lake) and abundance of seaweed before you can get to the deeper end of the lake. Overall, had a lot of fun kayaking for two hours at this lake and would certainly come back again! Don't forget to take 10% off the rental rate by checking in to Yelp!

We stayed near boulder bay this weekend and rented both kayaks and paddle boards from here. The service was great and my kids had such a great time kayaking. I was even able to take my 2 yr old out with me, they just scooted his seat a little closer to me. You do have to haul the kayaks down to the lake yourself but they had wheels under them so we didn't have any trouble walking them down. Would definitely go back here again!

Awesome service! And great locations! We rented one single and one double for 2 hours, the kayaks are in great condition they clean/hose it down every use and dock it after you use it. My only complain we not to the company was the life jacket was a bit to big for me as I am on the petite side, so when we go again im bringing my own. Also dogs ride for free!

    Ready for our kayak adventure.

We had a terrific time kayaking in Bouder Bay on a late afternoon for my wife's birthday. Elena was great at the office and when we returned the kayak. Devin checked us out with safety our float vests. We brought our own for our dog. It is 5-minute walk to the launch spot at the west end of the park. Parking can be an issue in the area.

Last week I decided to take kid wonder out on our first kayak experience and figured launching out of Boulder Bay would be the jam. Now there's not much to touch upon when reviewing a kayak rental places, but maybe a few aspects that I reflect on now. - Customer service was extremely friendly throughout the process, reservations, payment process, guidance and receiving the yak. Every employee seemed to enjoy their job and it showed with their stellar performance. - The Kayak itself is ocean style so it's got more power, it's got better handling, its got what, what, its got more leg room for your legs, its got more power. Overall had a great experience with Getboards and cruising around the lake. 4.7 - Will do again.

Beautiful Big Bear Day! Thanks Get Boards!

Thank you for the paddle-boards for my daughters and their friends. We had the most amazing time before school started. Your staff was so helpful and they enjoyed that while the adults kayaked. What a great day!

Mathew and kylee got me and my fiancée on the water quick and with a smile on. I highly recommend coming here if you enjoy good service

Thank you Mathew and kylee for good service and good times. We had such a good time and the kayaks were clean and ready to go

The people who work at the dock are kind, personable, and helpful. Our family rented two, tandem kayaks - we had a great time!

Had an awesome time kayaking w the pup and girlfriend. Absolutely will do it again when back. Staff was incredibly friendly, which is becoming more and more rare these days! Loved this place.

Went here on weekend vacation a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Our Lodging gave us coupons for a discount to go Kayaking and the staff were super friendly here. I was worried about getting tipped because I had my Husky with me and end up leaving my wallet in the car so the guy allowed me to borrow the Dry Box with no fee. Very nice of him 100%. The guys who were at the loading dock helping out were great as well. All very friendly and great first impression for my first trip to Big Bear Lake. The Kayaking was amazing and the view was amazing. I'm totally looking forward to giving them business again. This time I think we will visit during the winter and go snowboarding.

    Ask the Community - Getboards

Are you allowed to just swim in the water and can my dog swim too?

Yes. If your renting kayaks you need life jacket on! Dog is ok to swim as long as he knows how :)

The town is bike friendly and we avoided so much traffic and hassle getting around town for shopping, meals, and exploring. We had a basket on one bike, bungee chord on one, and my backpack made it easy for us to do most shopping we needed for the week without using the car. We reserved our bikes well ahead of our visit to ensure we'd have what we needed. We selected GetBoards because they offered overnight pricing and a range of bikes to meet our needs. We reserved two cruiser style bikes for around-town use but I upgraded to an adventure style bike since it was more comfortable for me to ride. I'm 6', my wife is 5'3", and we were both very comfortable on our bikes. The prices were fair and competitive. We know this because we shopped around before reserving. There was a modest, discounted overnight fee, but with our multi-day rental discount e bikes were an affordable addition to our stay. Matthew helped me when I picked up the bikes and he was friendly, informative, and super patient given it was our first time using e bikes. He ensured I knew how to use the bikes, checked that the headlights were working on both bikes, and set us up with helmets, locks, and chargers before sending us off. We will most definitely rent e bikes from GetBoards the next time we're here. I highly recommend GetBoards for top notch customer service, excellent and well maintained bikes, and a range of rental options to meet any needs (including bikes with kid seats, trailers for children or pets, baskets, and more).

We were referred to Tony by a friend and drove up to Big Bear to view the ski selection and rent several pairs for the entire season. Tony and his crew were incredibly welcoming, professional, and caring. They took the time to walk my daughter and me through all of the equipment she needed. We ended up renting ski boots, GS, SL, and powder skis, and my daughter has thoroughly enjoyed them so far. In fact, the high-quality equipment, along with Tony's expertise in selecting and tuning the right sizes, has been a major contribution to my daughter's great season so far. Thank you very much, Tony, and the team at Getboards.

The bikes they brought out were the perfect size for each person in our group and they provided helmets. It was about $16/hour for the bike rental. Upon arrival we were helped immediately. From arrival, to waiver signature, and getting on bikes took about 10 minutes. You will need an ID as they hold it until you return with payment. The location is on the north shore and it is easy to find. There was plenty of parking and it's right next to an RV Park with a little liquor store in case you forgot anything. If you didn't bring a drink, pick one up as I did not see any water fountains or bottle fillers on the bike path. The paved bike path is right across the road and it is easy enough. There are some hills, not bad, but not completely flat. You can always walk the bike up if needed. You can ride all the way down the north shore which is mostly undeveloped and absolutely beautiful. We packed a backpack with sandwiches and stopped along the way at picnic tables to eat lunch. Keep in mind for you, your kids, and pets, that it's a little harder to exercise/breathe at high altitudes. There are a few benches to stop and rest as well as a few paths down to the lake. The trail is shared with other bikers, walkers, runners, and a few folks walking dogs. Everyone we encountered was respectful. I knocked one star down because I thought $100+ for one adult and two kid bike rentals for less than 2 hours was a little steep. However, we loved our time on the bike path. The exercise was great and the north shore is beautiful. The trees and lake took our breath away. We will return soon.

There's a wall of pamphlets for recreation, restaurant guides and hiking trail maps. I took a couple stickers and a hiking trail map while listening to the main Information Manager speak on the phone in a kind and understanding manner while some entitled person ran the poor woman through the wringer about why this and why that isn't discounted etc. The information manager never broke character on her professional stance and continued for no less than 15 minutes of warding off some maniacal caller. I felt for her. These women deserve better. I originally wanted to go in for their 'Care for Big Bear' kit, since I'm all about that idea. However, the caller took over our visit.
