Renting a boat from Big Bear Marina turned out to be the absolute highlight of our trip and far exceeded our expectations. We rented for an hour and a half to cruise around the lake, and the cool breeze out on the water was an instant relief from the hot weather. Even our two teenagers didn't complain once--which is a major win! They thoroughly enjoyed the ride and loved connecting to the Bluetooth speaker the marina provided so they could play their own music. It set such a fun vibe that I even found myself trying to dance on the boat (much to everyone's amusement). The heat eventually drove us home a day early, but this boat ride made the trip worthwhile. It's the one thing we'll definitely do again the next time we visit Big Bear!

Im not quite sure but I do believe they have a fee for parking. I could be wrong. It's the lake so there's little sandy spot where people lay out and fish. Not a wide stretch but pockets here and there. The boat launch area is quite big so it roomy which obviously it's the point. We didn't see any boats being launch but a lot of people getting in and off of kayaks from it. Most people were out having picnics, there's benches situated here and there looking out to the water. The view was beautiful with the mountains and ski slopes in the background. As well as all the lake front properties. Tons of people out and about enjoying the water in jet ski , kayak, some sailing and boat tours. Like mentioned, pockets of beaches here and there with people laying out and fishing. It was a bit windy but still nice out enjoying the view. It's a beautiful place for boating, beaching, fishing and picnics. If it's not busy, you'll get lucky with a spot in the sand.

UPDATE: Confirmed this business is not in operation under this name, and is a scam - SO BEWARE. Do…read morenot book through their online booking system. We got in touch with the guy who's name was being used to run the scam - he's really close with and previously worked with the people that work at the marina. He confirmed that this company had been sold, and it turns out they weren't taking reservations. The marina is also investigating what's going on. Someone is using the guy's name, Adam, to answer the phone and using a google powered online booking system under this company's name to collect the fee and then doesn't show up, disconnects the phone line, etc. We let our bank know, now the original Adam knows, and the marina does too. Original: ITS A SCAM. We called, told to book online so we did. $300 for a private charter later, we showed up 15 minutes early and the marina said they hadn't seen the guy that runs this in over a week - hadn't even seen his truck at the dock at all today. We're alerting our bank, but beware - this isn't a real company listing. Phone number no longer works, it gives a busy signal that we showed to the marina employees who were just as confused as us. We're alerting our bank and flagging this account.

Canceling due to weather is one thing, but ghosting a customer, hanging up, and refusing to communicate is unpardonable. Lake Gregory Water Day…read more We made the most of our day at Lake Gregory! We tried the inflatable water park, paddle boarding, and a Duffy boat ride and each one was a different kind of fun! Paddle boarding More challenging than it looks, especially when you're trying to keep your balance, but so much fun once you get the hang of it. Duffy boat Definitely the relaxing part of the day! Cruising around the lake, enjoying the scenery, and taking in the beautiful Mountain View's Inflatable water park: The kids had a blast! Unfortunately, this visit was incredibly disappointing. We reserved a cabana and arrived as soon as the lake opened, only to find guests setting up pop-up tents directly in front of the cabanas, completely obstructing our view of the lake. During our previous visits, tents were not permitted in this area--which is part of what made paying extra for a cabana worthwhile. I brought the issue to both the cabana hostess and the office. I explained that had we known pop-up tents would be allowed directly in front of us, we would have brought our own instead of spending the additional money on a cabana. The only solutions offered were to move or leave. I wasn't asking for a full refund--just a reasonable discount because the experience we paid for was clearly compromised--but the manager refused. To make matters worse, the wind later picked up and the tents began blowing around, creating the exact type of safety concern this policy should prevent. We've enjoyed this lake in the past, but the manager's poor handling of the situation and complete lack of customer service left us extremely disappointed. If you're considering paying extra for a cabana, I recommend confirming beforehand whether tents will be allowed to set up directly in front of it. Otherwise, the cabana may not be worth the additional cost.
