Gettin Crabby 4391 Dixie Hwy. NE Palm Bay, FL 32905 3.5 Stars Once again on the Space Coast, my trusty random name generator was on familiar ground. Today I was off to the savage wilds of Palm Bay, Florida, in search of Gettin Crabby. Thanks to Hedy Lamar and today's take on her technological invention, my GPS led me right to their parking lot at 4391 Dixie Hwy NE in Palm Bay, FL. Warmly greeted upon entry, I sat my rotundness down at the bar. Courtney was the barkeep today and she could be another entrant in the Best of Brevard. I may start that up again with two divisions: Brevard and Las Vegas. Let me know what y'all think in the comments. I asked Courtney for an order of Oyster Stew, some Whole Belly Clams and an order of Cracked Conch. It wasn't long before Courtney was ploppin' my seafood feast in front of me. After taking the before pics, I dug into the Oyster Stew. Oyster Stew is a fantastic dish when appropriately prepared. I don't know what was up with this drek, but it was terrible. Absolutely terrible. The oysters were slimy, tough and smelled bad. After one taste, I apprehensively moved on to the Whole Belly Clams. The Whole Belly Clams were as advertised. They were juicy, plump, succulent little buggers fried to a perfect golden brown. They tasted like they were dug out of the river this morning. This was highly unexpected after the drudge that passes for oyster stew in this eatery. Turning my schooled palate to the last item ordered, I stuffed a cracked conch in my maw. This was fantastic! The dredge was tasty, complex and perfectly distributed. The accompanying dipping sauce was on par with the dredge. It was delicious, tying the flavor of the dredge to the mouthwatering taste of the conch like a well-skilled sailor tying a bowline knot. I was shocked at the freshness and quality of the clams and conch served today, as the first item was so dreadful. This makes me wonder if the Oyster Stew isn't straight out of a Sysco can. I have no explanation otherwise, unless the oysters were two weeks old and found under the floorboards. The Big Boy says, "This restaurant overpromises and underdelivers. The fried food was above average (it's the South, expect nothing less), but the rest of it? Not so much."

Everything was sooooo good!!! Thank you! Fabulous service, very reasonable prices and delicious seafood!

Cracked conch appetizer. Fresh and delicious. Great sauce!

This is in the location of the former Ozzie's Crab House. It is a big improvement with a more expansive menu and overall better run establishment. We had the cracked conch appy, an order of wings, and a 1/2 dozen medium blue crabs steamed Maryland style. Service was attentive and not rushed. A very good vibe overall. The food was fresh and delicious. Live entertainment on a Wednesday evening. Prices were quite reasonable!

Snow Crab with cucumber, tomato, pesto salad and French Fries ($32).

One of the first thing I always ask myself and guest is "would we eat here again?), and the answer is YES. I had the Snow crab and it was perfectly cooked, the salad was heavy on the pesto but the meal was very good. My wife had the Calamari appetizer fir her meal and it is a fine line of cooked right or rubber texture - I tasted it and it was perfect. The Key Lime pie was shared and did not last long enough to get a picture. The perfect balance of tart and not overly sweet.

This place is a MUST! Food is so good, I had the bacon scallop Caesar salad (I turned a sandwich into a salad) everything is made in house! You can tell ! It was amazing, if you are questioning it... don't and just go. The staff are friendly and so attentive! There's so much nostalgic memories in the walls. Such a vibe My kid. Said the crab was so delicious

Laid back, casual atmosphere. We took the entire family there (toddler included). Great staff, great service, great seafood! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back! I'm truly a seafood lover and appreciate different approaches and styles to seafood preparation. I didn't get a chance to snap all the pictures but I did get one of my colossal crab with half eaten smoked fish dip in the back

Last time we went they were out of crab. Go figure. Order fish, which was good, but we came for the crab.

Its very light while still creamy, very lobster forward and you know it because its right on top. Both times we went with the seafood lovers and its as it says for seafood LOVERS. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Shrimp, crab, lobster, fresh and cooked to perfection. On the bottom, an immaculate garlic butter with a slight spice (of you ask for spicy) and on top is like an oreganata. This may be our choice every single time, I cant go without it! My son gets his chicken tenders amd fries. Dad tax is a must because the fries are crispy and well made. The chicken is made when you order it and seasoned well. My only regret is not living even closer to!

Seating was available inside and outside. We opted to sit inside but needed a jacket because it was pretty chilly. It must have been a popular spot to celebrate Valentines' day- to our disappointment they were out of some of the dishes we were interested in trying. We opted for the crab cake, which was good with very little filler. The Fisherman's Bounty Platter ($30) came with shrimp, fish bites, oysters, and sea scallops along with fries and coleslaw. Since they were out of oysters, they substituted with extra shrimp and the hush puppies were substituted for extra coleslaw instead. The portion size was good for the price. The fish bites were a combo of snapper and grouper. I didn't know which one I had, but I preferred one over the other. I did think the seafood could have used more seasoning. We really liked the coleslaw. The food was okay, it satisfied my hunger.

The water view was particularly nice. I will say it's a little pricy, but I considered what I paid worth the money as this is not your typical dine-in restaurant. You know "yellow dog" refers to a coward, right? You failed inspection horribly last week. I posted…read morea screenshot and I invite everyone to look for it on Florida Today to see the deplorable kitchen practices here the manager denies so many violations last week. We were victims to their awful cooking and mishandling food. I certainly do give good ratings for good restaurants as much as 1 star ratings for dives like yours. Plus your prices are absolutely insane if I have to leave hungry especially. My steak was overcooked and took too long to get it. 6 oz? You should call that a child's menu item with a side of mac and cheese. Just 6 miles south, The Old Fish House in Grant surpasses the food here, at a fraction of the price with the same damn river view as this uppity location. Vics is another gem in Sebastian, I've been here for 45 years, I know the area better than you. This Yellow Dog "Sample size" Cafe charges a fortune to put your life at risk with ignorant kitchen staff, how can you justify staying open? The country should shut you down! The decor manipulated their decision most likely. I'll look into it, I promise. People only go to this riverfront dive because they're pretentious, not because they expect good food and a drink. I really should have read the reviews and taken the poor 1 star as a big red flag to avoid this place. My date ordered an unrecognizable goo, and she wouldn't touch it. I wonder if we suffered these poor kitchen practices noted in your failed inspection? Thawing commercially processed Reduced Oxygen Packaging (ROP) or vacuum-sealed fish in its packaging is highly dangerous. The lack of oxygen combined with improper temperatures creates a perfect environment for Clostridium botulinum to grow and produce deadly toxins. You're charging customers to end up in the ER as a dining experience here. Look for the screenshots. Edit: added more inspection results from 2024 and 2025, you get busted every single time. This isn't a mistake, its a practice.

I enjoyed the shrimp and grits and my dining companion had a lightly breaded fish fry dinner with fries. The shrimp and grits was a little different than preparations I've had elsewhere. There was not the abundance of Cajun sauce that usually surrounds the grits. Instead there was a smaller pool of butter. The grits were perfectly soft but toasted a little on top. The shrimp were fresh, tender and abundant! Accompanying the dish was a thick slide of baguette with wonderful seasoning. The diner can choose their desired level of heat. I opted for relatively non spicy and it was perfect! We plan to return often. Very pleased and found the mealvery reasonable.

North East, Palm Bay, FL 32005…read more 1- Star As Jamaican and Haitian cuisine has proliferated in the state of Florida, I have come to the stark realization that "We open at 11:00am" truly and more accurately can be interpreted as, "We may be ready and open for business by 1:00pm." In homage to the adage, "misery loves company", Big boy invited the newest member of the Big Boy Dining Out Family (BBDO), Chef X. Chef is a fellow, well-known Brevard County connoisseur of local cuisine. Echoing the general sentiments of our cohorts, he asked, "how often do you run into food like this?" I answered, "It's far rarer to discover 4-or 5-star quality fare." Keisha, our server, was the one lone person who was on top of things; although, I'd argue that it's exceedingly easy to accomplish such a feat, when there is quite frankly nothing to serve. We made several attempts to order numerous menu items, but our pursuits were fruitless, our efforts in vain. I felt like a Yeth encroaching on unfamiliar territory. Nonetheless and not to be deterred, I cautiously altered course asking instead, "What Do you have?" We were presented with fried oysters, on the verge of spoilage, brown stewed chicken and curry chicken. Both: terrible. Big Boy says, "bashing a locally owned business? Yes...the food is horrendous but hey...at least they were open 30 minutes late."
