We decided to visit this little restaurant based on some neighbors' experiences. They said the atmosphere is spartan (it is) but the food was amazing (it IS!). The interior is relatively small with cozy wood booths. The wait staff is down home casual and just wonderful. Friendly and very efficient. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits and my dining companion had a lightly breaded fish fry dinner with fries. The shrimp and grits was a little different than preparations I've had elsewhere. There was not the abundance of Cajun sauce that usually surrounds the grits. Instead there was a smaller pool of butter. The grits were perfectly soft but toasted a little on top. The shrimp were fresh, tender and abundant! Accompanying the dish was a thick slide of baguette with wonderful seasoning. The diner can choose their desired level of heat. We stayed a night at Hampton inn in Melbourne Fla. so we decided to have seafood. The front deck recommended Melbourne Seafood. My wife had the boil which is served in a bucket not a bag a little different than she's used to. I had the fried fisherman's platter. The serving was on the light side for the price. The food was ok but the service needs work. It wasn't busy and waiting to place an order was a bit of a wait. We had Oysters Rockefeller-Garlic Bay Fries. I had a Build your Bowl- Linguine with Shrimp my husband had Chicken with Rice. Each bowl came with two pieces of corn and two pieces of bread. we used to frequent this place quite often, went this evening with a friend from out of town and her son highly recommending it. Quite disappointed. She ordered lob bisque that tasted like tomato soup and the milk was curdled, the seafood crab dip was horrible, absolutely fishy we actually had to spit it in a napkin. I ordered snow crab legs that Wood came out cold and way too much sauce. I felt like I was eating a bowl of garlic and butter. Not the best dinner that we've ever had there. The change from ordering at the counter and getting your own beverages to now having full table service is not good. The wait staff is working out front and in kitchen. Beverages don't get refilled when needed. Everything takes longer and not as convenient. The food is still excellent. The shrimp boil is wonderful, very flavorful. Salmon and garlic shrimp is also very delicious. One other item, the place always feels like a freezer. They have a lot of vents and on top of that they have high speed fans. They did have nice lunch specials and ended up getting the shrimp and scallops over pasta with garlic bread and a drink for less than $10. Food was pretty good and season well with garlic butter. The shrimp was good and the scallops were a bit over cooked. Great flavors. You are able to choose between mild or spicy. Ended up getting mild. Friendly staff members and there are plenty of tables in the resturant. Plenty of other seafood boil items that looked good. They offer items just more than seafood boil, which is great. read more

I came here twice within four days for snow crab clusters, and the first time, I actually got full clusters--legs, knuckle, and a claw, like any normal order. The second time? They gave me just the claws --no legs, no body, nothing close to an actual cluster. And they tried to cover this up with a gallon of garlic (also which was not reminiscent of the first order). Just a pile of ripped-off claws like they dug through leftovers. When I asked the manager about it (very nicely and calmly keep in mind) he shrugged and said, "Sometimes we get full clusters, sometimes just claws," and then had the nerve to tell me there's "no difference in taste." Are you serious? There's a huge difference--walking legs are sweeter, easier to eat, and actually give you full bites. Claws are tougher, brinier, and way harder to pull meat from. But sure, gaslight me into thinking they're the same while shorting me on what I actually paid for. If you're expecting full snow crab clusters, good luck--apparently, it just depends on the day. No consistency, no transparency, and an attitude from management? Yeah, I'm not coming back. read more

Road trip request of my DH- seafood not too far off the highway. Enter Melbourne Seafood Station. Lot of locals which is always a good sign. You order at the counter, pay and get a number and sit down. Get your own fountain drinks including water. Ordered fish fried basket (fish n chips), 1 lb mussels and cheese grits. Everything was really tasty. The grits were not as creamy as I like but they were well cooked and seasoned. I was expecting the mussels to be in a sauce like the kind you dunk your bread in, but there was no bread so I guess no need for sauce. We stopped in before a huge rush came in at 6:00pm. The music was nice. Not too loud to talk but loud enough to hear. You dump your shells in a bucket on the table and they turn over tables quickly. Overall a good stop. They had lots of choices. Sadly no oysters. Not sure I'd make a special trip but if I was in the neighborhood I'd definitely stop in again. Hand washing stations and clean bathrooms. Always good on the road. read more

Wow the food and the staff are excellent here! I'm so glad other great reviews led me here cause I otherwise would have ventured off on a hotel recommendation. The food here is delicious and worth every penny. You order at the counter, and there are a variety of proteins for seafood lovers.... We went for SEAFOOD LOVERS.... lobster tails, scallops, shrimps and dungeoness crab (which we replaced from the snow crab as we prefer it for just $5 extra). He can't handle spicy so they kindly gave me the seasoning on the side. The whole basket was cooked perfectly, not too much not too little from corn, potatoes to the seafood. I don't know how they did it. Also, the grits is a must add. I would definitely come here again should I make it to Melbourne again! read more

I'm more on the 3 1/2 stars camp than 4. You go to the counter and order your food, get a number and they'll bring you the food when it's ready. We ordered the Seafood Lover's item which is big enough for 2, probably big enough for 3. The food was good but there was way too much Old Bay spice on it which isn't my favorite. Although we asked for the spice to be mild, all the Old Bay made it spice. We mentioned that to the attendant and she said we should have told them in advance not to add the spice... except that when we ordered that was never offered as an option. Unlike similar restaurants, you don't get a bib so you have to make do with paper towels so you don't get juice and butter all over yourself. You get a lobster cracker but no pick. I thought the prices were fair for the amount of food and the kind of food you get, so no complaint there. They have a couple of hand washing stations in case you ordered lobster or crab legs, which we did. read more

At the end we asked if we left the trash on the table and the woman working told us yes. I went to the bathroom while the rest of my party went outside. I heard her yell "fucking morons the trash can is right there." It's hard to determine the style of service. We tipped her and we honestly asked her what to do with our trash. Owner was really nice. ordered the oyster po boy and he actually saw the food and didnt like how it looked so he had the kitchen remake it before it even arrived at the table. not gonna lie. it was perfectly crispy oysters and i was really surprised by it. i asked for some extra garlic butter on the side and dipped it until my heart can clog. was pretty damn good. will be back again for those po boys. read more
