I finally made it to The Old Fish House Bar in Grant Valkaria after having it on my list for a long time. Living in Melbourne, I do not often drive that far south, but it was such a beautiful day that it felt like the perfect time to go. The waterside setting is wonderful and the outdoor dining creates a relaxing and scenic experience. I ordered the Reuben sandwich from the specials menu and it was excellent. It was very busy during our visit, which shows how popular the place is, but everything still came out tasting great. I was surprised to see the sandwich priced at over twenty four dollars on the final bill, so I would recommend being aware that some items can be on the pricey side. My husband had the hand breaded chicken tenders with french fries. He said both the tenders and the fries were excellent and the tenders were very large. We each ordered a cocktail. He had the Super Margarita - it was strong and very good. I had the Pusser's Painkiller. The flavor was great, but the chunks of coconut made it difficult to drink near the end because the straw kept pulling in the coconut pieces. It was not a complaint, more of a challenge, and I ended up not finishing it. The outdoor seating has plenty of picnic tables and high tops. We were seated at a high top and enjoyed the view, but the flies were overwhelming, which made that part a bit distracting. Even with that, the service was excellent and very friendly. Overall, it was a very good first visit with great food, strong cocktails, and a beautiful waterfront setting. I am glad we finally went and would return again, especially on a nice day. read more

I love this place, too bad it is far from home (Cocoa). I stop by when ever I am returning from areas down south, this time it was surf fishing at Vero Beach. Server Catalyna helped me with recommendations and the 'specials' available this day. I opted for a cheeseburger, swapped out the American cheese for cheddar. The fries were delicious and I ordered a second helping of fries. The cheeseburger was huge! Fully delicious, too. One of the best I have had. Server Catalyna checked on me just the right number of times, filling my drinks without me asking. I will continue to stop in at The Old Fish House Bar and Grill as often as possible for the food and friendly service. This place has a very nice 'vibe' and feels good to be there. read more

Stopped here for a late lunch while visiting my sister in Florida. We had eaten here before when I was in town on a previous visit. It was pretty busy as it is a very popular locals place for drinks and dining. We got seats at the counter on the boardwalk looking out over the harbor on the Indian River. I ordered the redfish with fried green tomatoes. It was good and the fish was quite fresh. The service was friendly. Sitting outside on a beautiful spring day is the best way to go. This is one of my Uncle's favorite places to frequent. I know this because he checks in there quite often on Facebook. My sisters and I decided to swing by and grab lunch with him one day. It came as no surprise when we decided to dine at the Old Fish House. The place is a hole in the wall. We drove by it twice before finding it hidden behind a jewelry store. I'm glad we did though because it'd definitely a treasure worth finding. The view alone was worth it. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the breeze and scenery. The day was gorgeous and they had live entertainment. It seemed like the place to be for all the locals. We asked my Uncle what was good and he gave the generic answer "everything" which in reality was true. From fish tacos to cubans to burgers, the food was fresh and delicious. The staff was also prompt and courteous. Being that my Uncle was a regular I loved that they called him by his first name and joked around with him. This is a more "local" fish house vibe, right on the river. They have a great selection of seafood and fresh oysters, along with your typical American fare. The vibe is clearly nautical with indoor and outdoor seating. Previous experiences here would have rendered 4-5 stars, but this last visit was not a very pleasant one. First of all boat parking was confusing/full so we ended up driving. Our server was just downright rude, like to the point it was uncomfortable. I ordered a salad which was completely drenched in way too much dressing (in photo). The grilled redfish and it came out broiled and was almost too salty to consume. Been going to Sebastian Florida for years. Discovered this restaurant on Facebook food group. We went three times during our one week stay. My wife says she wants to go more times the next trip. My wife and I have really enjoyed the food eating at this restaurant until yesterday. The restaurant has changed the seating arrangements. Before there was adequate 2 top and 4 top tables with regular tables . Now they have increased most of the tables to the high top tables with bar seats. We were offered a table outside but there were flys all over the table. This is a discomfort for us because of hip, and Knee issues and This has been one of our favorite Restaurants to go to. The food has always been great but due to the seating and mostly high Bar type seating we will have to go to other Restaurants where the seating is more comfortable. read more

Everything is always on point here. I have to eat here at least a couple times every time I come down. I can't wait until I'm around for the whole winter and can eat here numerous times a week. The food is amazing and sitting out on the deck is the best view in the whole lagoon. Also, you have to try the Key Lime pie, it's better than in the pie in the keys. read more

When I was a young child, my grandfather lived on the Sebastian River down Micco way. It was hard to get there as a young lad due to the fact that there was absolutely nothing between 192 and Main Street, Micco. After Cox Truck stop, the demographics changed, and it terrified petit moi. To this day, I get the heebie-jeebies when heading toward Micco. However, the job prevails, so "once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more." The innocuous name blinking up at me was The Old Fish House Bar & Grill. A building affiliated with the fishing industry has been at this location for over 100 years. What began as Jorgensen's Fish House eventually morphed into the Treasure Coast Marina. Over the decades, many families have served as custodians for the fish house. Today, the restaurant looks like a dive packed with rednecks and power day drinkers; however, the food is OUTSTANDING. Ben is the waiter assigned to my section, and boy did I get lucky. Ben is prodigiously charming and knows the menu forwards, backwards, and I suspect upside down. When queried about the specials, his answers were forthright and knowledgeable. To skip ahead a bit, at the end of my "research" on the fare flung forth from yonder kitchen, I asked Ben to have the rest wrapped up, and instead of nonchalantly tossing a box on the table, took the items away, wrapped them, and brought them back. It's a good thing that Ben obviously doesn't suffer from chrematophobia as that immediately qualifies for a 50% tip! Well done, Ben. "Now, the food that Ben so eloquently wrapped for me was the remains of Redfish tacos and the Fisherman's Platter, both crispy. The fish tacos were fresh and succulent, served with the most delectable homemade Pico de Gallo and fresh guacamole I've had in a long time. The accompanying black beans and rice were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The flour tortillas, while I don't think they were made on-site, were warm, supple, and fresh... just the way they are supposed to be. The Fisherman's Platter was equally well-prepared as the fish tacos. Everything had just the right amount of coating and was fried to a golden brown. I particularly enjoyed the Mahi-Mahi, though the oysters and shrimp were equally mouthwatering. The red potatoes were tender and buttery, while the coleslaw had a hint of coconut, giving it a tropical twist. All in all, the meal was impressive and it just lends credence to the fact that many local dive places serve some seriously sensational food! My wife and I had supper on a Monday evening. My wife ordered the 1.25 lb of. boiled shrimp which we shared. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a side of hush puppies. The food was good and it was plentiful as we took home about 1/3 of the shrimp. The outdoor lounge was busy so we opted to eat inside where we were able to have conversation with friends. The absolute best dining experience I've had on the water. Don't let the outside scare you away. Went on a weekday and it was fairly busy. Sat outside and it was amazing, server Chris was very attentive and make sure we were well taken care of. On Monday they have a shrimp special. Enough to feed two. The food was hot and fresh. Some of the best hush puppies I've ever had. The $5 margaritas, you can choose between a few different flavors and they were very well balanced. Two was enough lol after dinner we walked on the pier. We live in Port St. Lucie. We went to visit cocoa beach. In the way home we stopped in The Old Fish house. The place is old. It could use a bit of a fixing up. We had lunch. We both had shrimp tacos. The shrimp on the tacos was very good. Each tacos had three shrimp two tacos were served with a side of rice and beans and neither of us care for that. A substitute was not offered to us. This is probably my favorite restaurant on the river. The view is great, but the food is what has me going back consistently! My favorites: conch fritters, fried green tomatoes (bacon and cheese with balsamic glaze on top, and their chicken planks. I am not big on seafood but my companions are and they got the fried shrimp, another hit the triple tail(?), flounder sandwich and then the pineapple chicken. We also got the gator bites a couple salads. hush puppies, fries, rice and beans. So, we had a wide variety of food! Everything was delicious. The salad was cool and crunchy fresh, the conch fritters as good as in Nassau, the fish fresh and everything was hot! We had plenty of leftovers and I will go back as usual. read more

A nice gem in the Grant area. My usual spot for fish is in Eau Gallie, but this time I wanted to try something new and closer to home. The Old Fish House has been around for a while and I have had many recommendations to come. I opted to sit outside near the boat deck. The weather was nice with a slight breeze and the perfect seating to watch the fish come up. For starters we ordered the conch fritters which is always a must for me when dining at a seafood restaurant. They came out hot with nice fluffy texture and paired with a tangy remoulade sauce. Blackened Mahi was my choice for the entree and chose veggies for my sides... I'm was trying to offset the fried appetizer. LOL. The Mahi was seasoned well, but had a slight fishier taste than what I am used to having. The potatoes were my favorite and the zucchini slices could have been cooked more and maybe even sautéed. Their sandwich options looked really good so I might have to make another trip and try one of them. read more

No wait on a Sat night. Sitting outside was nice. Good view of the water and comfortable for two. New England Clam chowder was not like any chowder we have had. Certainly not New England style. It was more of a tex mex chowder. That said it was very good and had a slight kick of spice. The shrimp cocktail was okay, shrimp were a nice size, but were a bit over cooked. Not a fan of needing to peel the shrimp. The plantation chicken sandwich was okay. Not great. Chicken was dry and fries were meh. The Mahi fish sandwich was also pretty dry. Neither were very good. I went last night and had the shrimp boil. Unfortunately, the server never told me that you had to peel the shrimp. I decided to return it, but she was busy so I tasted a potato and the juice was delicious. It had a piece of soggy corn, good size shrimp, very tasty and it was only $20. The server was not bad, but she wasn't the best. The food came out quickly, but the server got busy, so I decided to peel the shrimp and eat at the same time as the other two people I was with. They enjoyed their meals. One had the teriyaki wings and one had the chicken sandwich. French fries were crispy. The place was clean so I'm going to give it three stars. We live in NV and used to live in Melbourne, we get back when we can, and love to get together with our friends here. We called due to having a large group coming, they don't take reservations. We arrived early and let them know we had 12 coming. You would think they would be happy, but not so much from the young woman that we checked in with. The waitress that took care of us was great. I eat here about once a week. Dog friendly and family/kid friendly and the outside is always cool even on the hottest day. The drinks are amazing, my favorite is the red sangria, it's the best I've ever had and a good size for only $8. My favorite is the fish basket with hushpuppies and add a side 1513 salad. Affordable and delicious! I like music acts that perform too, the music is always relaxing Jimmy Buffet style and the volume is perfect, never too loud. Lots of weekend memories made here. The servers are great too, Ben is our favorite. Melanie is the absolute best, she seats people and clean tables, and is always so thoughtful and nice and gives attention to our pup. She brightens our day every time we see her and I think very highly of her. read more
