Tasting around the Dry Creek region, you don't always want to drive into to Healdsburg for lunch, especially since so many of the wineries have picnic areas with great views. Geyser Peak is a label I know from the local grocery store as a decent bottle of wine for a mid-week meal. What I didn't know was that Geyser Peak offers a picnic and tasting package in their new (1 year old) tasting room. We tasted four wines from their premier tasting list and then decide which wine (a zin) we wanted for lunch. With a nice glass of wine (5 oz) in hand, we went out to the picnic deck where they brought us a tray filed with a selection of charcuterie, cheeses, dips & olives, crackers, and chocolates, plus 2 bottles of water. It was more than we could eat. Everything we needed for a picnic lunch was provided and it made for a nice break in our rounds of wine tastings. read more

Came here on a tour with some friends and we were not disappointed! They let us try numerous wines, all of which had us ooooooing and ahhhhhhing. Were winos. So we like to think we know a damn good wine when we have one and this place matched up. We were then treated to a delicious lunch on their stunning patio and balked in the sunlight while sipping glasses of their Pinot noir and enjoying lawn games. All in all, we ended up shipping a few cases back to Denver with us where I'm happy to report that I'm writing this review while enjoying brussel sprouts with their Tawny port reduction, a tip provided by their staff. Can't wait to grab more of their stuff in the future! read more

Time to update my review as this place is a gem of a winery. The staff here are simply the BEST! Lisa and Darla, were on board the day we went in to taste and it was just downright DELICIOUS, and of course, DELIGHTFUL. There was the most beautiful group of young professionals tasting which was a delight in it's own way to see others appreciating and enjoying the wines. It was a super hot day and starting off with their most savory Sauvignon Blanc, hit the cool spot. I was ready to settle in for the day with both Darla and Lisa, as they are knowledgeable yet patient and friendly while taking their time to explain the wines and such. Nancy and Linda, were not there but these two are quite a pair so when you go, EXPECT to SMILE and LAUGH, and just let yourself BE. We were excited to get a chance to taste at the new location. We had tasted at the old location a year or two ago, so we wanted to check the new place out. It did not disappoint. Because this is off the beaten path (used to be closer to Dry Creek), it wasn't overly crowded. The servers were very attentive and pleasant. They had a nice assortment of both white and red wines. The new facility is very nice. Will definitely be back in the future to try out the new vintages. read more

We attended a music event at the winery today. The band " long time". Was a Boston tribute band that did other rock band covers as well. Totally awesome!!! The band along with food, wine, some tables and a beautiful day was exceptional and I highly recommend it to anyone. The low cost of $10 entry was a great value and we packed a lunch which made it a great value. Food and wine was available. Try the savignon blanc. There are no words for how terrible my experience was at Geyser Peak. In the interest of being fair, I do want to acknowledge the following events happened during the Wine Road Weekend, which I can only imagine is very busy and stressful for all of the businesses involved. That being said, there is absolutely no excuse for the injustice my friends and I suffered there and the behaviour of the owner. On the wine weekend, it truly isn't uncommon for some wineries to offer free little trinkets and party favours. I still have a keychain that was given out during the 2016 weekend. Upon arriving at Geyser Peak, they had a couple baskets on the counter with little odds and ends. So I went and grabbed one of each and walk back to my friends holding both. One was a pour top for wine, and the other was a cheap little bottle opener with their logo (the kind you can buy for a few dollars at Trader Joes)...I notice the pour top has a little label that says $5.99 and realize it isn't a goodie and it's actually for sale so I went and returned it to the basket immediately. I check the wine opener and it has no such label so I place it in my pocket...again, it was a really cheap wine opener so it didn't seem strange it would be free. IMMEDIATELY an employee (very politely) runs up and asks me if I was going to pay for that, I balk, realize my mistake, hand it back while explaining I thought it was a free souvenir, and thought that would be the end of it. No harm done right? Wrong. Within 5 minutes a surly woman with a trollish attitude (and the appearance to match) comes up to my group and asks my FRIEND - not me - to "return whatever merchandise she took." and identifies herself as the winery owner. My friend is shocked and confused, and the owner keeps saying "you heard me, give it back." I immediately jump in and explain what happened to me (as I think a mistake is being made), and reinforce that I already spoke to an employee and sorted the confusion out and I'm sorry for the trouble. She rudely says "Yeah I know what you did, but your friend stole something too." We immediately begin offering to turn out our pockets, empty our purses, anything to demonstrate we don't have any merchandise. She keeps saying not to do that and to just give the merchandise back. I start getting angry because at this point she is just berating us without being constructive, and she snaps at me "DON'T GET DEFENSIVE." So I shortly explained that "defending is what you do when someone wrongly accuses you of something." which completely set her off. She continues to lecture and admonish us, so finally I tell her she can't just sit here and demean us because "she's the boss" and to either give us something actionable (ie. apologize despite our innocence, empty our pockets to prove we didn't have anything, etc) or to leave us alone. She huffs off. She proceeds to tell EVERY single employee to avoid serving us. We kept demanding service (we had already PAID for the event and the wine) and every time we approached the counter she would grab any bottles near us and transport them to the opposite end of the counter while avoiding eye contact. She started being rude to ANYONE she saw even talking to us, and kept pointing at us and whispering things to her employees. It was a really offensive situation to be in, and we were a part of a large group on a bus so it wasn't really within our power to just leave as we had to wait for our buses scheduled departure time. We probably remained there for a solid half hour after the entire argument, and she made darn well sure it was as unpleasant and uncomfortable as it could possibly have been. Again, I understand it was a busy weekend and they were likely overwhelmed, and I'm not offended she approached us if she genuinely thought she took something - but it is absolutely inexcusable how we were treated and there is NO reason for that level of unprofessionalism. read more

I've always focused my drinking on the important items like beer and whiskey. It wasn't until a recent wine tasting with John from Geyser Peak that I learned about what good wine really is. John took my wife and I through about eight different wines explaining how to taste good vs. bad chardonnay's, understanding the types of grapes that are important to good wine and also introducing us to special wine glasses for ports. It was educational, interesting and helpful and definitely worth the visit. The winery, like most had a number of items that were not available outside of tasting room. Our favorites were the Tawny Port as well as the Water Bend Chardonnay. read more

We decided to stop here on our way out of the Sonoma Valley. This tasting room used to be owned by Terlatto, but they have relocated. I was hoping for some sweet wines for my wife, and Zinfandel for me, but they were not tasting them on that day. We were the only ones there on a Monday afternoon. Very beautiful tasting room with friendly staff. Wines were not fantastic, but I did end up purchasing a bottle. read more

We found Geyser Peak while looking for a kid-friendly winery that has sparkling wine and a great property -- we couldn't have been happier with our experience! The tasting room looks like someone's actual living room (or the living room of a model home, for that matter) - so bright, comfortable and welcoming. The staff were also so warm and friendly, even so kind and sweet to our child. The backdeck and backyard area was very relaxing - quiet and low key without being pretentious. The tables on the backdeck have umbrellas for shade, fun music lightly piped through. The backyard area has a few cornhole & ladder ball sets and lots of room for little ones to run around. We did not bring our own food with us (lack of planning on our part for our hunger needs) but noticed other people brought food with them. The salesroom has light snacks for sale like crackers, cheese sticks, packs of cured/uncured meats, chocolates - enough for us to nosh on during our stay. And, o, the sparkling wine was DELICIOUS and perfect for a hot summer day. We hope you enjoy this winery as much as we did! We can't wait to go back! read more

Absolutely terrible location filled with snobby and rude staff. They falsely accused my friend of stealing, which was fine they are trying to run a business and are with in their rights to ask amd protect their product. The problem was what came after, they refused half the people in my group service and proceeded to scowl at us and treat us poorly for the rest of the time we were there. Would not recommend attending this judgmental location. read more

Over 40 years ago my grandfather visited this winery. He came back with 12 bottles in 3 wooden boxes. I visited Geyser Peak today with the same wooden boxes ready to be refilled. It was late on a Thursday. I didn't expect much from the staff. The staff on hand was beyond knowledgeable. I enjoyed the hour I spent with him and knowing my grand parents did the same over 40 years ago. I left them with a wooden craft. Pass it on. Thank you GPW! read more
