Picked up a chicken shawarma wrap here after hearing that they had one of the best ones in the city. I liked how they grilled the wrap to get the saj crispy. The shawarma is not bad but nothing particularly outstanding in terms of flavour or portion. Also, this has got to be one of the worst parking lots in Toronto. Watching the lot is entertainment in itself so good luck!

Ghadir is a long standing restaurant/grocery story at the corner of Lawrence and pharmacy. They have meats and restaurants side, a seating area with multiple tables to eat and a fish and seafood side. Inside can be a bit chaotic, the layout is not super intuitive but the staff are there to help amidst the busy ness. We got the mixed shawarma plate, the chicken and beef were fresh and plentiful although I felt a little underseasoned. It was sitting on a bed of rice which was cooked well. Side of pickles and pickled turnips, coleslaw like salad. Comes with garlic sauce and hummus - both were amazing. The pita bread is nice too. We ask for some hot sauce on the side which was very good. Overall, the food was fresh and tasty. I did find it a bit more expensive than other shawarma places but still really good and authentic.

For some reason I'm always craving Kebabs. Decided to give a shawarma place I've been to before a try! Price $10-$40 per person Items ordered: -Lamb Cubes Skewer Platter (2 skewers with half fries/half rice and salad) -Chicken Kafta Skewer -Lamb Kafta Skewer -Chicken Tawook Skewer Food Quality (Menu, Taste, Portion size) - 4/5 When I say their menu is massive, I'm not lying. You can get almost anything and everything there! They're known for their shawarmas, but also offer kebabs and manakeesh among other things. Their portions are pretty good, always adds a lot of meat and sides. Taste wise, I think they're good. I feel like I've had better kebabs with more char but still really good! The chicken Tawook wasn't as flavourful as it could be but the lamb was really really good. The kafta skewers weren't as soft the last time I went but will try again. Atmosphere - 4/5 It's a restaurant combined with a grocery store/meat market. They have a separate seating area that is connected to their fish restaurant. It's almost always feels chaotic there but it's a nice market style vibe. Service - 4/5 The staff is generally nice but I did have an issue with pickup. Called and ordered and came in 30 minutes after and found out that they didn't even start, had to wait another 15 minutes. The cook was super apologetic though so I appreciate that, but I would be careful about ordering pickup. I did it on the site, so I recommend doing it by phone instead. Will I go again? Not my go to but will go again to see if the Kafta skewers are better at a less crowded time. Lash's Recommendations -Lamb Cubes Kebab -Chicken Shawarma

Updating to say that they have modified their seating area and now it's a bigger, better and much cleaner space. Their bbq whole chicken is still very popular with the fries and dip and we still keep coming to eat just that! Their shawarma wrap is also good and very light. It's kinda a self service concept where you place your order, they call the number on your receipt and you go pick up your food and sit down to eat. Service is still quick and good though.

Wow! The roast chicken here is phenomenal and so lovely to enjoy right there on the spot. It gets really busy the but the staff are always so kind and helpful doing it all with a smile on their face. Their shawarma is good too, but their chicken was definitely the star of the show. If you like seafood they also have a fresh fish station where you can choose your favourite selection to get grilled or fried. Don't sleep on their baba ghanouj!! So delicious!

There guys deserve a five star rating. The meat counter is SPOTLESS and has all your favourite Middle Eastern prepped meats like lamb kibbeh nayeh (sort of a minced lamb tartare) and prepped kebab. Prices were very reasonable. I splurged on oxtail - the quality was on point for purchase. They have a bakery attached - got a basbousa. Will try their savoury manakeesh next time. There is a fishmonger adjacent with the same name - possibly the same owner (smart white Bentley parked outside). Service at the butcher was a bit slow-ish but friendly.

I can't believe I never heard of this place, and what is so interesting when you go in they have two different restaurants one is a fish restaurant and then a meat market where they sell shawarmas, right when I went in this place was jam packed you couldn't even stand, so what does that tell me, it means this place is legit. I got the beef and chicken shawarma wrap mixed loaded with everything imaginable and fries, vegetables all the hot sauce, pomegranate molasses, garlic sauce, spicy garlic and we got side of French fries and yellow rice. The fries were so crispy and delicious, and the yellow Rice I don't know what they put on it but it was so good, now I'm gonna be dreaming of this shawarma all night, starting with the fresh baked saj bread, oh my god, I've been living in Toronto so long I feel guilty I never tried this place, but never say never. When you come here make sure you order the mixed shawarma load it with French fries and get everything and spicy garlic and pomegranate sauce, honestly I'm definitely coming back here, top ten shawarma places I tried so far in Toronto.

The one bad thing about my neighborhood is its lack of top-notch Middle Eastern restaurants, so I was excited to make the trek out to North York for some quality shawarma. We'd heard that Ghadir had a terrific selection of Middle Eastern eats, so we popped in on a recent Saturday. The layout is initially a little confusing but we quickly figured out that we order at the cashiers and not at the food counter. I decided to go with a mixed shawarma wrap and I got that with everything. It was ready about 15 minutes later and sure had some heft to it. This is one first-class shawarma wrap. It's loaded with quality pieces of both beef and chicken (albeit pieces lacking in that crisp you hope for with a shawarma), and the other components complement the concoction really well. I especially loved that tangy garlic sauce in there. Do I wish it had some kind of hot sauce to give it a bit of spice? Yes, but that's a minor complaint for a wrap that's otherwise worth the long drive.

This place is as authentic of a Lebanese shawarma spot as you can find in the GTA. It's a no frills spot so don't expect too much on the service side, but the food is absolutely delicious and hits the spot. I tried both their cheese manaeesh and their chicken shawarma (with extra garlic sauce of course) and both were top notch. Their Kunafa with tea was also a nice choice for ending the meal. Highly recommend this spot!

Would you be interested to explore a grocery and butcher store that also serves fresher shawarma meals? - Its Ghadir Meat & Fish market. Ghadir can be your #1 attraction for its service,  fresh meals, and cleanliness. From a small grocery store to serving high-quality halal meals, Ghadir has the best options for everyone since 1991. This place is such a hidden gem for shawarma lovers in the city. You get your money's worth here!  I enjoyed the shopping experience because I felt the real and sincere generosity of everyone who works at Ghadir.  We ate the scrumptious family shawarma platter of four.  Everything is freshly made and perfectly cooked. I am returning soon to explore the fish restaurant.  1848 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1R 2Y4 Website: http://www.ghadirmeatmarket.com/

This is a long overdue review, when eating inside restaurants was still allowed. I'm not a big fan of carbs and since we came here to have lunch, we had to be strategic on what to order so no food goes to waste. My boyfriend and I shared a chicken tawook plate (which comes with rice and pita) and hummus with chicken shawarma (which comes with pita). They grilled the tawook and shaved the chicken shawarma once you place the order, so no dried up chicken shawarma here! They even timed it so that both our orders were ready at the same time, a service I didn't expect at a take-out/self-serve restaurant. We shared the food but because I like the chicken shawarma with hummus so much, my boyfriend surrendered the dish to me early on during the meal. The hummus was creamy and super smooth. The chicken shawarma wasn't overly seasoned like most places and I didn't have to constantly drink water afterwards. The tawook was chicken breast meat and it wasn't dry. The vinaigrette dressing in the side salad was refreshing and helped cut the "heaviness" of the excessive hummus I was eating

Great chicken, great beef, great hummus, and thus, great shawarma. This is the place you need to be in Scarborough (and arguably the entire city). It doesn't matter whether your heart desires a plate or a sandwich, your needs will easily be met here, and then some. Follow @foodpharaoh on Instagram for more food

Amazing food! Good portion size and staff is super friendly. It's inside a grocery store but defiantly a place to go to if you love Mediterranean food. For roughly $15.00 you get a salad, hummus, garlic sauce, a choice of fries or rice, and the meat. I loved the shish Tawook! The chicken was very flavourful and the rice was very good too. I absolutly loved the garlic sauce and hummus. Defiantly Will be going back!

Jumbo shrimp were grilled over charcoal. They were very fragrant & pretty tasty. It came with 3 (!) sides. Rice was good - fluffy & spiced with a noticeable cumin flavour. It was not salty despite its look. Batata Harra (spicy potatoes) were good: a bit crispy. The dish also came with bread (for the baba ganoush, maybe) so don't overload on carbs with your choice of sides. The bread was a bit old & pre packaged but I just took it as a bonus anyway. The baba ganoush itself was decent. Portions are big here. If you choose mixed vegetables they're just tossed with olive oil and garlic. The red sauce on the side was slightly spicy - more tart. It was good too. You can get whole fish sold by weight here too. They have some Middle Eastern drinks, like Mirinda Green Apple from Egypt & Mirinda Citrus from Saudi Arabia.

Before committing to a $1,000+ spread, it's worth visiting to explore the more accessible offerings. The roasted suckling pig with jellyfish is a dish of contrasts: warm, rich pork paired with cool, crunchy jellyfish. It may have been my portion, but the pork leaned slightly fatty. Still, it was moist with a delicate, crispy skin. Instead of the usual deep-fried crab claw, Queen's serves a scallop with shrimp paste. It's easier to eat with a knife and fork, and while the sauce softens the crisp exterior, it adds a savoury depth without overwhelming the seafood. The crispy salted egg yolk prawns were impressively large and well cooked. I don't usually gravitate towards salted egg yolk, finding it heavy, but here it added a pleasant richness. Since the coating sits on the shell, it's easy to control how much you get. I also appreciated the inclusion of vegetables throughout the meal. The scallops came with gai lan, while the prawns were paired with broccoli, helping balance out the richness. Swapping out the usual shark fin soup, the bird's nest soup with minced chicken and egg white was a welcomed change. The broth was thick and silky, but the minced chicken added some much-needed texture. This is a long review for the rest go to Gastro World.
