Mutton Dum Biryani Palak Paneer Butter Chicken Beef Seekh Kabab Garlic Naan

I have been to Devon a million times but this is my first time posting a review. I ordered takeout but from what I could see the restaurant was clean, and casual. The service was friendly and fast. I ordered mutton biryani, seek kabob, butter chicken, palak paneer, and naan. The biryani was more of a pulao (not Sindhi/Karachi style you get most other spots on Devon). It was heavy on cardamom, not soggy at all and I loved it. The butter chicken had just the right balance of creaminess and spice. There was this unique flavor to it, it had depth, it wasn't just cream. The seekh kabob (or maybe the whole meal?) came with 2 chutneys, one green and one yellow one. I'm used to the green one (mint - and thick not watered down) and the yellow one was so unique and different, it almost had south Indian flavors and it was so delicious! The yogurt sauce had perfect little shredded carrots, and maybe some other vegetable in it. Again, they did not water it down like other restaurants do, it was thin, but still remained creamy. Lastly the standout for me was the naan: it was enormous, had the perfect texture: crispy at the edges, pillowy soft in the middle. It's evident that everything here is made from scratch. Im so excited I found a spot that takes a lot of pride in their food.

Amazing food in little india! As a someone intimidated by unfamiliar culture. The service here is super nice. I saw a group of uncles going in and I instantly knew this place was going to be good. Then, I saw two guys eating a big bowl of chicken stew. Hence, I ordered the chicken kadai and king kabab platter. The platter had toasted chicken and a couple kinds of kebas along with bread. The price is truly affordable also. On Fridays, I saw they have a buffet. Ummm yea... I'm going to try that too!

We were nervous walking into this place because it was practically empty, which is a bad sign for me that a restaurant isn't great. However, I was completely wrong! The food here is delicious, the meat is tender, and satisfying. We ordered butter chicken, with amazing naan, chicken biryani, and the kabab king combo platter. It was more than enough food for 5 people. I would definitely come back! The service was great. Also, when we left, the restaurant was completely packed. We must have just walked in on an odd time. Lastly, this is definitely Hyderabadi food.

Hadn't been to Devon since I used to regularly visit with my father back when I lived in Chicago. It's changed (Viceroy is long gone) but it hasn't in that walking into a random restaurant based on the other clientele still results in a good to great meal. Walking past this odd set up (looks like two different narrow restaurants when looking in) I saw men on one side, women on the other. It wasn't official, but seemed pretty Muslim and no one was Gora so I popped in. I made an error in judgement based on the name and had some really good kababs. The mistake was not waiting and observing before ordering, these two different groups of South Asian women were clearly enjoying the Kadai chicken, and that's the dish that makes this place truly great. It's an ugly duckling of a restaurant but the service is good by Indo Pak standards but the ambiance and service really don't matter when this sort of highest excellence in Kadai chicken is here. It's halal.

Another gem on Devon St! The Mutton biryani here is absolutely fire-flavorful, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. Must try for any biryani lover!

So we Recently drove by the neighborhood and thought we gave this place a try. Ordered the chicken biryani, tandoori chicken and the zeera rice. Took it home opened it and lo and behold A BLEEPING COCKAROACH IN THE CHICKEN BIRYANI!!!! Like WTF?? We called and told the worker there about the incident and they pretty much played dumb and denied anything to do with it. We ended up throwing it all in the trash and wasted about 50 bucks of food....DONT EAT HERE the place it's just filthy...

Came in on a not very busy Friday night with some friends. Plenty of seating available as it's winter and Chicago and peak Omicron season, but they will allow dine in. We ordered Mutton Dum Biryani, White Kadai Chicken which is one of their specials, Chicken tikka (not pictured because it was delicious and I forgot lol), and 3 parathas. The first to arrive was the chicken tikka which fair warning is on the spicier side, but teeming with flavor. The edges that were crispy were my favorite part, and the chicken itself wasn't too dry. Next came the Kadai chicken which we ate with fresh parathas. The steaming parathas drizzled in ghee coupled with the fresh Kadai chicken really made this whole experience even better considering that it was 10 degrees out. Kadai chicken was probably my favorite dish, just so creamy and the chicken pieces are nicely marinated too. If it's your first time here, it's a must order. Last but not least, the mutton biryani just topped the meal of nicely. I do wish they added more mutton pieces but that's just me being picky. Overall amazing meal. They were unfortunately out of Haleem that day otherwise I really wanted to try that. But definitely will come back again. Thank you!

Kabab King Combo Junior- delicious, perfectly grilled, tender juicy chicken

Kabab King Grill is hands down one of my favorite spots on Devon. It's a smaller locally owned hole in the wall type casual restaurant serving Pakistani style cuisine. Every time I've been, the food has been amazing. Most recently, I tried the Kabab King Jr. Combo platter which was one of the best grilled kababs I've ever had. The kababs came out perfectly grilled and were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the kadai chicken, which like it's namesake comes served in a kadai. This was also delicious and came out very fresh. My major complaint about this place is the customer service, which can be very hit or miss. When the crowds are small here, the customer service is good, but once there's a crowd, the service and wait times become really poor. Regardless, I would highly recommend trying this place out! Definitely a gem on Devon.

It's an incredibly popular Turkish sandwich, loved and adored in the city of Berlin, Germany of all places. Our son, visiting us here in Chicago (from New York) was taunting the virtues of this rather large and tasty sandwich and of course, the city of Chicago has a restaurant making this; just right up the street. Döner 97 on Clark Street adjacent to Lincoln Park is serving up this delicious, sloppy (in a good way) sandwich with all of the fixings. I had their Combination Döner Sandwich a combination of both beef / lamb and chicken kebab sandwich with tender, seasoned meat, fresh veggies, and flavorful sauces in warm flatbread. I really liked it. We also bought a Chicken Döner Sandwich with delicious chicken döner kebab sandwich: tender, seasoned chicken, fresh veggies, and flavorful sauces in warm flatbread. Also very good. These Döner sandwiches are huge like a massive Mexican burrito, messy like a sloppy Joe sandwich, but fun like French Fondue. Döner 97 was a first for me and I was pleasantly surprised!

The food is where Ēma really shines. From the Happy Hour menu, the Charred Eggplant Hummus and Crispy Potatoes were generously portioned and great for sharing. On the main menu, the Indian-Mediterranean fusion Bhel Hummus was a party for my taste buds, while the Hot Honey Halloumi and Chicken Kefta rounded out the table nicely. The halloumi is more of a side than a main, but that sweet-and-salty hot honey combo was chef's kiss. For our finisher, the Chocolate Torte knocked us out.
