parking up in Devon is very hard but it was easy because I rode my motorcycle today so I could squeeze in certain parts of a parking space on Devon. Also beware this is not a buffet and I was craving more for a buffet than an individual sit down this eating at an Indian restaurant that way I feel that was lied at. Anyways I ended up eating the mutton biryani rice which was decently good it was semi-formal and service was actually pretty quick and responsive the mutton biryani dish is very spicy especially with the complimentary sauces when I ordered some buttered naan. overall it was your average passed semi-formal Indian restaurant on Devon originally like I said I wanted a buffet but it wasn't what it was so I felt lied to on an Yelp. We had an amazing breakfast here of masala dosa and omelette paratha. The dosa was perfectly crispy and we loved the different chutneys -- the coconut chutney seemed especially fresh. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this biryani was a complete letdown. The rice was dry and overcooked, the meat was either missing or barely edible, and the flavors were completely off--bland and greasy at the same time. It honestly tasted like it had been reheated from days ago. No aroma, no proper masala balance, and definitely not worth the price. I was really looking forward to this, but it ended up being a total waste of money. We went there for all you can buffet, and were not happy at all. There were maybe 6 or 7 dishes served atop tables that were not clean. When dishes were being replenished, they could have used that opportunity to wipe off the area around the food and make it look more presentable. Very sloppy. There were a number of dining tables that weren't even cleaned off. We were there for maybe 30 minutes, and it took them that long to send someone to clean them. Well, where to begin. The food was a little spicy (I ordered mild) and kind of watery. The taste was OK but the quality of the chicken used seemed either low or was just overcooked. Then it turns out that they do not include rice with their dishes/dinners. Since I live in the Devon area and eat a lot of Indian food, this is the first time rice wasn't included. I also contacted the restaurant and their customer service was a disappointment. The person on the phone was less than friendly and seemed in a big hurry to get me off the phone. House of Biryani is a late night, divey diner on Devon ave. If dining in, there is ample seating for larger groups. Though the place looks like it could use a good application of Pine Sol and grout cleansing. Not a traditional restaurant. More of a take-out kinda place. When I see a bunch of dudes crowding the counter, I always think.. there are aspects to the business that can be attended to. Prepping or filling orders, cleaning, etc. No wonder... I'm not seeing what others are. Their biriyani is decent but it's not in any way superb. Five stars?! Naw. A load of rice with less than 5 meat bones is rather pathetic. Of course, whomever is filling the takeout container has direct control over that aspect. With this said, ordering an appetizer of marinated meats or a gravy would help the biriyani. I got an order of chicken 65 as a side. It helped. Back to the biriyani, I can't believe how poorly mixed the rice with meat is. All anyone looks forward to is the biriyani seasoning which should coat the rice. If properly doused with the meats and thoroughly mixed with rice, the biriyani should sing to your nostrils and create a rush to taste. Such is not the case, IMO. Another question I have is whether they're making it (truly) in a "dum" or that they're utilizing biriyani essence.. Some people use essence so that they don't have to go through the process of adding all the necessary spices & seasonings. It's a shortcut which most will not detect. In any case, one and done for me. I may not return for biryani but I may stop in to sample their falooda. When it's late and your feeling like dessert, a good falooda can brighten horizons. (Falooda is a kind of ice cream sundae dessert. Akin to Halo halo) read more

I brought some Biryani lover friends here and the verdict is that they very truly impressed. My friends said the chicken Biryani was authentic Hyderabadi style, 5 points for the Biryani. They got chicken 65 which they said was close to authentic... I got vegetable pakoras and was satisfied. So here comes the buffet review.. friday lunch buffet is everything a hyderabadi would love. (bagara khana, daalcha, phalli, dum ka chicken, marg, sheerqorma etc etc) A must try.. u will not b dissapointed! It was not good at all. The rice was bland. I had asked them to deliver a spicy chicken biryani but the place delivered something that was completely opposite of what I had ordered. One of the newer restaurants in Devon. I highly recommend the Haleem and the biryani. Until recently they were not offering dine in but it is now available. Service is very fast but only problem is they only take cash - so please do remember to carry some bills when you visit. Street parking is available but it is on a very busy street and finding a spot is purely luck! read more

Nice staff but did not provide napkins and had to ask for water multiple times. Masala dosai and idli were great. But chicken Biryani was very disappointing. I really like this place, my wife and kid too. I first visited with my wife for lunch during the week. We had chicken briyani and spicy chicken masala. It was wonderful ! Just went for the Sunday brunch buffet. Many very tasty dishes. My kids are 11&12 and they loved it too, the briyani, butter and tandori chicken, beef, lamb, goat and the fresh naan was amazing! Probably one of the best places to get Chicken Biryani, rice is cooked perfectly, chicken is very tender and flavorful. One order is large enough for two people, price is fairly reasonable, can be a bit on the spicy side but we'll worth the burn. read more
