    Raw chicken

We thought we would try this restaurant as it had some good reviews. I ordered butter chicken and when we opened it up at home the chicken was raw also asked for mild and it was "hell hot". I took the food back and they offered to remake it. Got it home and the food was literally swimming in grease- the texture also looked very weird - not like anything I have seen before, also spicier than before. Took food back again and asked for full refund. Not recommended.

Hands down to the best BIRYANI here in USA. Had Goat biryani with Goat haleem,Chicken 65 and they tasted ammmmazing. Highly recommend this place when you're in Chicago. Friendly staff,It's bit difficult to find a table as the dine inn is small and always crowded, be prepared to expect some wait time. Added some of my snaps from this place.

Came to yet another Indian restaurant on Devon Avenue. It seems like this is one of the newer ones. Tawakkul is a pretty small place. Has two sections that are the dining room, and to order at the counter. Looks like the menu is a combination of Chinese and Indian. After looking at the menu, we decided on one of the few vegetarian choices. It only has a few to choose from. The rest of the menu is meaty like chicken, goat, and seafood. Ended up getting the Bhindi Masala. It's about $9 for quite a lot of this. This includes rice with an entree, which is something that's becoming rarer unfortunately. Good spice to it. This also came with sambar, which added some even more spiciness. Good as far as being authentic. It has a few Chinese items such as noodles along with the Indian food. There's not a whole lot but there's a few items for vegetarians.

Had the chicken and lamb mandi, visited on many occasions and always loved their food.

Food was amazing, especially for the price and huge portions. Service was eh. The samosas and chicken biriyani were soooo good.

I arrive within twenty-one minutes buying only a quarter's worth of time at the parking meter thinking surely that would be enough time to grab my carryout order? Guys, why was I waiting an additional twenty minutes for food when nobody was in this restaurant? I hate when a restaurant draaaaaaags without giving any reasons. Thali shops have literal fast food. Not in the American sense but the foods are as simple as crepes (dosa) served with chutney. The other items would need more time. Curries, biriyani, etc Ordered an onion dosa and a masala dosa. Texture was different from what I'm accustomed to eating. But I'm wanting something similar to South Indian style. The onion dosa contained what looked like a full, medium sized onion. In Southie style it should be pan fried till brown, sometimes incorporated into the dosa or stuffed inside, this was barely translucent. Didn't slap. The masala dosa was mid. Didn't touch much. Hate throwing away food but.. Not wasting the stomach on barely good. Something about the texture of the dosa wasn't... It just wasn't good. One and done. If a restaurant offers dosa, it's gotta be great. Maybe their other foods are better?

We tried their chicken dosa, aloo samosa, and mutton thali. I love dosas but I think I prefer dosas from a different restaurant in the neighborhood. However, the mutton thali was delicious and I would come back here just for that. Which makes sense, it's in the name. I will be back!

When I say Tan you say Dory…read more Tan! Dory! Tan! Dory! Yes I know it's spelled different but the message here is to get the Tandoori. Easily the best Indian I've had. The highlights were garlic naan, Lamb Vindaloo, and of course the Tandoori Chicken. The only criticisms was that the Chili Naan was way too spicy. I like heat and Indian heat never really gets my mouth burning. This Chili was really just raw hot peppers in the Naan. Tikka masala was actually not great either. Favorite of the below was the lamb vindaloo followed by the tandoori chicken. The somosas were my favorite I've had to day- gotta get the lamb. They had those funky little indian pickles too which were great. Super aromatic. I felt it seeping through my pores (in a great way) for the next few days. Momo was solid but I'd either switch to chicken chili fry Momo or chicken 65 next time. This was our order: 2 orders of tandoori chicken 1 order of chicken tikka masala 1 order of lamb vindaloo 1 order of palak paneer 1 order of Momo 3 orders of samosas 1 order of onion pakora 4 orders of naan 4 orders of chutney 1 order of raita 1 order of pickles 1 order of dessert And we ate it all! 6 of us. Shoutout to the incredible staff and chef. We were able to meet him which was an honor and a privelage.

Well seasoned, grilled, meat soft, juicy, the fat is nicely rendered. I would get this again but it's so expensive. Probably only for special occasions Chicken kebab bihari $26- super super super good. I would come just just for this. The meat is super soft, tender, moist. I've never had kebabs this moist and tasty. High way chicken kahari with bone $22- white meat, lots of spicy, some heat..complex flavors. Good with rice or naan. Lots of ginger Garlic naan $4- average

The restaurant was quite packed and full of patrons. Overall the restaurant was very loud and it was hard to hear in there. We ordered the Chicken Biryani, The Highway Chicken Karahi, the lamb kebabs, the chicken Bihari kebabs, chicken Tikka and the beef Seekh kebabs. Although the food looked good, it wasn't quite up to the mark. The chicken biryani was dry and had too much essence in it, the chicken Tikka was dry. The chicken Karahi and the lamb kebabs by far were their best dishes. Honestly though for $228, we felt the food was overpriced and the quality of the food, fell well short of our expectations. Overall, we give Bandoo Khan a 3 out of 5 stars. It is a one time for us. There are better options out there with better prices.
