This place. The atmosphere and location had us excited from the start. The beer selection was fantastic, and then the pizza was truly the cherry on top. We tried the carbonaro Detroit style which was a huge hit at our table, followed by a wood fired Med. Slow service. We ordered 3 different pizzas, my hubby pizza comes out...20 minutes later mine comes out. We waited another 20 minutes and finally inquired about my daughter's, was missed! Our server was very nice and friendly. We were VERY disappointed in the pizza. We were excited to get Detroit pizza but the inner crust was extremely dry. Wow!! My husband and I were yearning for pizza tonight and our usual go-to was not taking orders, so we got online and found Ghost Box Pizza. We're never going back to our old place! Honestly the best GF crust I've had, with a real bread-like texture, with a generous amount of toppings, and wood fired for extra tastiness. My husband loved his Detroit Style crust,--great bread-like, a-little-crunchy-and-doughy-at-the-same -time texture. He is referring to the crust as having "that pizza -crack thing going on". I was hoping this place would be good bc we are missing a good pizza place in the area. The patio is really nice and the service is fast and good, but unfortunately, the pizza not so much. My husband had the wood fire cheese pizza and he said there was too much sauce, which was super acidic by the way. He had to take Tums after eating it. I had the wood fire veggie pizza but with a gluten-free crust. If you are gluten-free, don't waste your time there. It was by far the worst gluten-free crust I've ever had. I don't know what that was, but it was not a crust. It looked like it was made with eggs tapioca flour and a lot of gum. Super weird. read more

Went to Ghost Box for the 1st tonight and will never go back. We ordered a pizza to go and sat at the bar for a drink while we waited. When our pizza came out it was missing a topping, so the bartender said she would get it fixed and took it back to the kitchen. When the bartender returned with our pizza all they had done was take the cold topping from their prep table and place it on top of the pizza. I realize the meats are all pre-cooked as I worked at a Pizza restaurant for 8 years, but never once did we ever place a cold meat on top of a cooked pizza and hand it to a customer as if the problem is now fixed. For a pizza that cost 3 times the cost of any of the national pizza chains I would expect them to care about the quality of product provide to customers. If the cooks and the bartender can't care enough to provide a quality product and placing a cold topping on a cooked pizza is acceptable, then I wonder what other poor practices are acceptable at Ghost Box Pizza? read more

Hard to say what the pizza is like because we never got beyond the TERRIBLE service....twice. About a month ago we thought we'd give it a try and the poor kid at the host stand just could not figure out how to get our number in the reservation system. We ended up leaving after about 4 tries...bummer. Fast forward to tonight. We walked in, they had a table and wow, we were excited to get to try this awesome pizza even after a failed first attempt...we were seated, they brought water and then......... Crickets. Nothing. No one greeted us. No one looked at us. The server hit every table around us - asking how the food was, can I get you another beer, etc but never even made eye contact with us. After 20 minutes (which is REALLY far more generous than we should have been) we gathered the kids and left. It took us about 3 minutes to walk to our car and head back by the restaurant towards home and we saw that our table was not only bussed but reseated. WHAT?! You flipped a table in 3 minutes that was never served. Hope those suckers got better service than we did. So to recap. Food? Who even knows. Service. Really terrible. We ordered 2 "wood fired THIN crust" pizzas. The toppings were very good, fresh mushrooms and really good pepperoni. BUT the crusts were too doughy for our tastes. They are not THIN crust. Staff, on the phone and in person, are great. The pizzas were hot and ready when I arrived to pick up. Make sure you read the descriptions and order red sauce if you want sauce and mozzarella if you want mozzarella! Parking is a real pain, especially on a Friday night. There is a public parking lot around the corner but it is small. On the street parking is hit or miss of course. read more

We really wanted to like this place- great concept & location. We went to Ghost Box within the first two months of opening. The cheesy crust expected from a true "Detroit-style" pizza was missing from all of our orders. We decided to give it a second try tonight after hearing positive reviews from others. Service was painfully slow even though the dinner rush had already passed through. Our family of 4 each ordered our own pizzas which were delivered at least 30 minutes apart from the first to the last. Kitchen timing was way off & we were approached twice to restate our order. The kids ordered traditional wood-fired which were both overdone. Our Detroit-style pizzas.... one was a play on an Italian roast beef sandwich: shaved roast beef, giardiniera, horseradish sauce with an au jus dip. The pizza dough was dry, flavorless, & covered in a horseradish gravy. Au jus had more salt than jus. The other pizza was described as potato & rosemary. It had an overwhelming amount of garlic that covered any of the other intended flavors. My husband & I ate two slices to satiate our hunger, but all leftovers were on the table. No need for a box. $164 for sub par pizza. We won't be back. read more

Must try! Our family lives in Lafayette and had tried Ghost Box when it first opened. At that time, the recipes/chef included a ton of garlic in everything we ate. We did not return for a long long time. At the recommendation of a friend, we tried them again. In the last 2 months, we have gone to Ghost Box 2 times and have had take-away once. Each time we were impressed. We enjoyed the wood-fired Margarita pizza, the Spicy Pepperoni Detroit style, the meatball sub, 2 of the salads, Cheesy Bread, and tonight...the Carbonara Detroit Style. Whoa! It is by far the most exciting. Also, I can't wait to try the Nutella and Banana calzone! It looks amazing! Additionally, while dining in, we tried a few cocktails and they were quite tasty (they do have a few To Go as well). Finally, Ghost Box has a fun arcade area in the basement for kids and kids at heart. This little Lafayette gem is worth it! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! read more

I want to love this place so much. We live in the neighborhood and were excited to see a new place open up a year ago. We came right away and then a few times after that hoping that our first experience was just new restaurant jitters. But as perfectly located and decorated as this place is, the food just isn't that good. The few times we've been the service has been really friendly and helpful although it seems like they are a little understaffed at times. It's really the food that seems to be the issue here. Everything is overpriced and takes way longer than it should for the quality of what you receive. The Detroit style pizza lacks sauce. The wood fired pizza lacks flavor and seasoning and the dough is more like fry bread than pizza dough (I love fry bread but...not for a wood fired pizza). And that balsamic reduction overpowers the bruschetta and the burrata. The Caesar salad and the winter salad are good. As are the drinks and the ambiance. As a Lafayette local, I desperately want to love and support this place as a local business, but...I can't. It's mediocre at best. read more

Our family was so excited to try Ghost Box Pizza and support a local place but it was very disappointing. I love deep dish pizza however the crust was more like dry bread than yummy thick pizza crust. There was very little pizza sauce and we typically enjoy the average amount of sauce but sheesh! We ate very little. On the positive side, my single glass of Chardonnay was yummy but that's hard to mess up. My daughter ordered the banana & Nutella calzone for dessert but she didn't care for it. When it was time for the bill, the waitress came to our table and announced the amount with the electronic device in her hand and said they were saving paper, a bit sketch and odd. I like to at least glance at the itemized bill, but in this case I didn't want to make it an issue so I handed over my card. To top things off, the next morning I woke up feeling nauseous and vomited which is extremely rare for me...like 10 years ago. I'm honestly not sure if it was the bit of pizza from scary ghost place the night before but all signs are flashing ...Beware of Ghost Box Pizza! It will haunt you the next day and beyond. read more
