Wow!!! What a great evening. We were met at the front by Patton, who told us it would be a bit of a wait. We found a seat at the bar and were welcomed by Mattie and Liz who were kicking butt at making drinks and making sure everyone is welcome. Our waiter was Mitchel - he was welcoming, knowledgeable, attentive and made great food recommendations. But the cleaned it up and Addison star of the evening was watching the expediter get everybody's food out. I've been visiting this place since it first opened and surprised I haven't reviewed the place! This is a hidden gem in Tempe. The place looks really cute and have always had great service. I've always loved everything I've tried, but my favorites are the short rib and cowboy steak. When I feel like I want a little bit of everything, I go with the sampler. Brunch is also super tasty (steak and eggs, burritos, tres leches French toast) but I like that they also keep a good amount of their popular diner options. Oh their cowboy platters on Monday nights is the best! My family of 3 share this and we are always beyond satisfied with the portions, delighted with the quality and flavor. We are so excited every time it comes, that we always dig in before I get to take a picture. You'll just have to trust me on this one and order it. Parking can be a little tricky and sometimes they have a wait, but it's ALWAYS worth it. We usually try to get there early, especially if we are a larger group. We dined here for a girls night and had the best time and the most amazing service! The wait was long! On a Friday night we waited over an hour but it was worth it. Our food was delicious, we all ordered different dishes and were all pleased with our orders. I ordered the Beef short rib; I'll be dreaming about this smoky spicy sauce with the smooth polenta. This was incredible. The chips and guacamole were epic, the salsas were pretty good! We all shared the churro ice cream sandwich dessert and agreed it's probably the best churro we've ever had. Went here this past week for my birthday at the recommendation of my coworkers. They allowed me to come in with a big party, which they really hooked it up for me as, to my knowledge, they don't really take reservations. We arrived around 6 and they were able to accommodate us and fit the 8 of us in (me, my lovely girlfriend and 6 of my friends). The service here was exemplary, and our waitress was very sweet and welcoming. I asked around the cocktail menu and wound up with the Mezcalita which was on the stronger end but very good. I decided to get a sample platter for our table for everyone to try some of the enchiladas and the skirt steak. Each thing we all tried was hitting, the steak was so tender and very delicious. The enchiladas were schmackin. My buddy Jack ordered the Aztec cake which was immaculate, and tastes even better than it sounds on the menu. My boy Matteo let me try a piece of his swordfish, and it was quite good and well seasoned. My buddy Josh got the SW Chicken Pasta which came with a half a chicken in it, 2 massive breasts still hanging onto the bone for dear life, on top of some penne pasta with Oaxaca cheese blend. I didn't try it but it looked just as delicious as everything on the table did, good thing he got it when he did as they changed the menu and no longer carry it now. My buddy Gabe got the same thing as my girlfriend and I, which was the short rib, and it was the entree I had been wanting to try the most. It was braised beef on top of creamy polenta with some green chile ragu mixed in, it was very flavorful and very filling. And lastly my buddy Caleb got the swordfish tacos which looked delicious as well. The server asked if we had room for dessert, which we were all running out of by this time, but our eyes were too big for our stomachs so I ordered the chocoflan for the table to share, and they brought me out a complimentary fried ice cream ball as well. I had maybe a bite or 2 of the fried ice cream ball which was a bit much for me but it was delicious nonetheless, and the Chocoflan was absolutely stellar and tasted as good as it looked in presentation. Overall, I'm really looking forward to retuning to Ghost Ranch as they've got a fantastic menu with some elaborate dinner/drink options, and I need to check out the brunch menu next time and get the Dirty Horchata! The decor throughout the restaurant feels very unrefined and cozy, and though it's a smaller restaurant, the food is very big and the portions are admirable. The service here was quick and efficient and our server was awfully considerate and made my birthday event a fun memory that I'll gladly look back on for years to come. If ever in Tempe, head to Ghost Ranch. It's not a matter of if, but when. You all need this place in your lives. read more

The outward appearance was very nice. Rustic, located in a really nice area, I walked in.They need a door hop.Because the glass door is super heavy. I was greeted immediately, my server was very polite. I could not decide if I wanted salmon or if I wanted a steak.However, I had set out today to have a steak. After my waitress returned, I asked, what did she suggest? And she suggested the steak. When the plate came, I was pretty amazed at how much food was on the plate. I make a 45 minute drive at least once a month for the cowboy steak! My wife has something different every time we go and constantly tries to get me to try something different. She is convinced I am missing out but I always tell her "if it aint broke dont fix it". What a creative delicious steak! Burger was amazing, the Wagyu was nicely cooked and the grill flavor came through well. I was delighted to have found this place. Tonight the wife was craving a burger so I suggested she try the Green Chili Burger. Off we go to Ghost Ranch. I was excited to have another tasty burger. We ordered the Egg Rolls app, as the family had enjoyed them on our previous visit. We were served and everything looked nice enough. Cut my burger in half, and it was cooked to my liking. Anticipation! First bite, and realized it was not as good as I had remembered. Disappointing in fact. Juicy tho! I popped over to the bar and grabbed salt, wife asked for some as well. It really helped, so am thinking that the cook must have missed seasoning this round. Wife had said earlier that the Egg Rolls were missing something as well. Neither of us had much of our Ranch Papas, they were really weird this time. Once you got through the char (intentional, not a mistake), the potato inside was mushy leaving the sauce to overwhelm. Not nearly as enjoyable as the first time we had them. Sadly GH has now fallen from a favorite, to a maybe. We may try again at some point, which is why this review is a 3 and not a 1. A couple of notes for management. - The large granule salt will not come out of the shaker, had to remove the cap. - Our waitress was heavily perfumed to the point of over-powering all else. Was attending a broadway show at the Gammage theater at ASU and saw that this was nearby. Went out on a limb and picked this place; I couldn't be more happy I did! My dad and I picked their mule cocktail and a jalapeño margarita, with the recommendation from our awesome waitress Bailey, both were to die for! We both ordered the Sampler Platter and it was a delicious, filling combination of the best dishes this establishment has to offer! We got lucky too and got to try the last churro icecream sandwich they had available, where they artistically made the churros look similar to a rose. We had been coming to this restaurant for at least a year like a regular customer, the place was great , excellent management, great bartenders, good service and food, the key word is " WAS " , since the restaurant changed ownership the place had been going down. Let's talk about the menu Chips and Salsa : The chips are super salty like no kidding someone just dump the whole bottle of salt on them, the salsas don't taste not even close to what they used to be, green salsa the tomatillo is super blended and super goey , red salsa leave a horrible after taste on your mouth and is all chunky. Enchiladas : Are they enchiladas or are they hard roll tacos dipped on green goey sauce ? , I don't think I have to explain anything else , for anyone that had ate enchiladas knows the difference. Pozole: you guys know this is a soup right? Where is the broth ? , it was just a very thick beef and powder stew, you can taste the chili powder doesn't matter how many lime you add in it. Chicken Taco Plater: Tortillas super cold, the beans where all burn, not just taste, you literally was able to see black burned beans on it, now let's talk about the start of the plate the chicken, it tasted super heavy, weird aftertaste, kind of if they just added Knorr on the chicken because the new personal doesn't know how to cook the chicken. It's very sad that so such good restaurant, is going through this change, everything was good before, to who ever bought this restaurant I am assuming you bought it because it had good reputation and good customers, let me tell you we went there because the food was good don't change it. read more

The food was delicious but we had a food error and a long wait for food to get to our table. Let me preface this with we were one of the last tables of the night. The appetizers came out after about 30 mins and they came out room temperature which was a bit disappointing. When the dinner came out 45 mins later, there was an alcohol wipe in the sauce. They took it back and made another one which was only about a 10 min wait. The food is all delicious. We got the cheese crisp which has pickled onions, picked peppers, pico, chorizo, and avocado. The southwest egg rolls were full and tasty. The pork chop I got was delicious with perfectly charred broccolini and cheesy grits. My husband enjoyed his steak dish. I will say the tip option rips people off if you aren't doing math. Because we had the error, it shows the initial charge $48 that was comped due to kitchen error, the second redo steak $48 added was comped so it inflated my pre discount total to $210. My bill was only $120, it has the 20% tip option at $45. 20% of 120 is not $45. Even if there was no error, my bill would've been $160ish. 20% of 160 is not $45 either. I don't mind tipping my server a little extra but that's a substantial difference. I did not enjoy the extensive wait and the husband eating separate from the family with the error. I think the way you comp should be reconsidered especially since it inflated the tip based off of pretotals. Perhaps you can consider zero'ing the redo to not increase the bill inadvertently. Despite these issues, the food was soooo good and I would absolutely go again. It was packed on a Thursday so I'm sure weekends would have a super long wait. read more

Ghost Ranch Benedict - Mixed in this one. I'm not a huge Cornbread fan, but love Eggs Benedict. So I had to try. This came loaded up on a Roasted Green Chile Cornbread, loaded up with a perfectly Poached Egg, Schriener's Chorizo, Avocado and a Chipotle Hollandaise Sauce. Really good but, haha, I wasn't diggin the Cornbread. If you love it you'll love this. Promise. Chilaquiles - Chicken in a Tomatillo Sauce, topped with Oaxaca Cheese, Crema and Sunny Side Up Eggs. IMO, you can never go wrong with this order. Super yummy. Roasted Chicken Green Enchiladas topped with Cabbage, Peppers and Crema. Delish. Chile Rellenos - Steamed Anaheim Peppers, stuffed with Mushroom Duxelle, Goat Cheese Sauce, Chianti Chile topped with Crunchy Leeks. Fire Tres Leches French Toast - The show stealer. Must order for me. 3 stacks of French Toast, topped with a Blackberry Compote, Fresh Strawberries, Whipped Layers, White Chocolate Crumbles soaked in a delicious Tres Leches Sauce. Yooooo! This place blew my taste buds away! Friday night wasn't too busy of a wait (about 20-30 minutes) for a party of two. The service was great and a good atmosphere (although I wish they had more than 2 TV's at the bar for sports consumption). We started the meal off with queso fundido (an absolute MUST!!!) and pozole. The pozole was good, a little spicier than we like, but solid flavors. The queso fundido though... the texture of the tortillas and the hot melted cheese with other sauces and flavors.
