There are many large sculptures throughout the gardens, they are all labeled with the name of the work, the artist and the material. There is a large market with sculptures of all sizes for sale. The exhibit is so large it is only displayed in one location per year. While we were there, there were two sculptors working on new pieces, both took the time to speak with us. Love is in the air at the Bonnet House, while we were there they were setting up for a wedding and we saw a proposal. A beautiful setting for both. They have special events throughout the year, including an orchid show and Christmas holiday wonderland. Guided and self guided house tours are available,$30-40, we opted for the grounds tour only, $15. The gardens are well shaded so even on a warm day our visit was comfortable.

Old Northwood is one of Palm Beaches oldest neighborhoods. It consists of over 320 buildings from…read morethe 1920's. This event included a food and house tour of the neighborhood. I was so impressed by how well put together the tour was. Unfortunately I found out about the tour after it was sold out. I still followed the Facebook page however and the morning of the event messages started popping up from people who couldn't make it and had to sell their tickets. I was able to secure three VIP tickets that included the tastings at the restaurants and the home tour. the VIP ticket was $75 and the home tour alone was $35. If you can swing the extra money for the VIP ticket that is definitely the way to go. The VIP ticket included food and drink pairings from seven restaurants in the Old Northwood District. The restaurants on the tour included Bistro Bistro Cafe, Malakor Thai Cafe, Cafe Centro, Mestizo Peruvian Restaurant, Grilled Cheese Gallery, Sunset Bar and Grill, and Table 427. The night started with wine and cookies at the Circa Who furniture store. There was free parking in a lot only a few feet from the store. All of the food and drinks I sampled were wonderful. The restaurants were so welcoming and I enjoyed everything. I definitely want to go back to each restaurant and try more of their menu. I was beyond full by the time I finished the tasting tour. The second part of the evening was the house tour. A perk of the VIP ticket was a band that let you cut to the front of the line of the house tours. There were ten historic houses on the tours The ability to cut the line was fantastic because some of the lines were extremely long. Without the VIP ticket I am not sure that I would have made it to all of the houses. The houses were amazing and the owners were welcoming. My favorite houses were the mayor's known as the Mansion, the Mango Tango House which has an Airbnb out back, and #4 and #5 which are two properties that have been combined into one compound with six aviaries, a koi pond, and gardens. All of the houses were tastefully decorated for Christmas and they all served wine and water. In addition to the house tour there was entertainment in the form of Victorian carolers and a marching band. There was also a pop up shop selling merchandise. Snacks including churros, soft pretzels, and popcorn were dispensed on the street. Molly's Trolleys provided transportation up and down the street. I definitely feel that you get a value for your money with the VIP ticket. I wouldn't want to tour without it. We arrived at 2 and didn't get finished until past 8 so it was a very long afternoon/ night. This tour is very popular and the lines to get into houses got quite long so the ability to skip the line is critical to seeing everything. This event also sells out so start looking for tickets to be posted in September. According to my tour guide the houses and restaurants change every year so I will definitely be back. This was one of my favorite events that I attended this holiday season.

I was creeped out by the Native American mannequin holding the gun on the second floor. There was so much to read I just couldn't keep up with everything. The floors are the original Dade County pine wood like Old... ...Davie School and everything is still originally built except for the electric and water running thru the building. The third floor had a beautiful painting display in 3 different rooms and there was a model.... ....room of what this building should've looked like during it's early motel era. I was told customers only paid around $2 to spend the night here which was alot back in those days. Before you tour the building there's a historical short film about Fort Lauderdale in the lobby downstairs which was exciting. Only downfall, you have to pay for parking outside. Another thing was, none of the staff... ...told me that there were two more houses outside to look at, everyone stayed quiet. I was charged my $3 with food stamps to see this. But I'd recommend you ask what is available to see before going on your own.

The tour guide (my apologies I don't recall his name) was very knowledgeable. The museum has a number of cool artifacts within it's collection. The top floor had local working artist studios which was fun to explore. Give yourself about an hour to an hour and half. There are nearby restaurants and parking is convenient.

After story time, we were able to see Laura the Docents paper crafts which are available for sale and we were given a walk-through tour. It was incredible to see Cheryl's childhood bedroom and the phenomenal collaboratively family built dollhouse, which was her mothers and then hers. Matter of fact, of all the gay bars in the city and there are a lot of them, there is only one straight bar, Red's, but about as gay friendly as any straight bar can get. So, it's really nice to know how it came to be and how it evolved which is where Wilton Manors Historical Society comes into play. The history of Wilton Manors isn't very lengthy, actually not much to it, but enough to hold ones interest. The Society will explain it all from its beginnings back in the 1890's with early settler William Collier and its first significant 345 acre plat by E. J. Willingham in 1925 right on down to the present day. The Society has all sorts of books, records and early day pictures of Wilton Manors and the all-volunteer offices and members are more than will to share the stories behind each and every one of them. As the Society meets or sets up at different places it's wise to phone in or check their web site for current information. As a membership society, $25/year and may be paid online by clicking "join/donate" on the main web page. The one thing about the history of Wilton Manors that sets it apart and makes unique, unlike any other city, is that present day Wilton Manors came into being, developed around and because of a gay bar, Georgies Alibi, though I haven't heard the Society go into that facet with any detail. As they really provide such a wonderful as well as valuable service to the community, or as they put it "Yesterday's history is today's reality," Five Stars.

Our guide, Marc, was energetic, extremely knowledgeable, and very considerate of our individual interests, which made the experience feel personal rather than scripted. Pickup was easy and convenient at a location near the Miami airport, and the clean, comfortable van made the drive across southern Florida along the Tamiami Trail enjoyable. The airboat ride was a highlight--we got up close and personal with alligators sunning themselves despite the chilly weather, which was unforgettable. The day ended with a phenomenal boat ride with an excellent captain on the west coast through and around the mangrove islands, where we saw dolphins, white pelicans, cormorants, and an impressive variety of other waterfowl. Overall, this was a highly educational and entertaining day from start to finish. A perfect way to experience the Everglades and Florida's unique ecosystems.
