I enjoyed my visit to Dryft in Wellesley. The vibe was modern, upscale but still approachable and the interior was beautiful. The shopping center itself was nice and felt modern and clean. The parking lot had sufficient parking availability on a Tuesday night. I hadn't made reservations in advance but despite it being pretty busy, they were able to get us a table for 2 inside (there is some outdoor patio seating available). The service was friendly and helpful though not very proactive (but it was busy so understandable). The one major turnoff was the staff aggressively spraying cleaning solution onto nearby tables. That stuff can waft over to someone and set off an allergic reaction, it can get into food/drinks, and the chemical smell that lingered was not great for a higher-end restaurant. On the other hand, it was a clean restaurant! We got shrimp cocktail (they charge by the piece). It didn't come with the standard cocktail sauce - not sure what it was - maybe vinegar-based(?), but it was just OK - my friend didn't like the sauce at all but we thought the shrimp was good. We each ordered haddock with green beans and mashed potatoes. The haddock was nicely prepared with breadcrumbs on top and cooked such that it was still flaky, moist, and had a nice light flavor. Mashed potatoes were good (as other reviewers have noted), and the green beans were ok - maybe a bit undercooked. The team accommodated my friend's nut allergy by leaving off the almonds, which we appreciate! I didn't love the tomato confit but it wasn't bad. I'm glad that I could visit this beautiful restaurant! I hope that they can find a better way to keep the tables clean. read more

Came in for late lunch on a Sunday. We just missed the brunch (11-3) so it was nice and quiet. I know this a seafood restaurant but OMg they have THE best mashed potatoes! Perfectly whipped with the right amount of butter. Get them!! Everything on the menu looked so good it was hard to choose: - crab cakes had a really nice crust on the outside but I wasn't a fan of the shredded crab/stuffing inside. Lump crab would be so much better - we split the mussels which had a flavorful sauce and came with 2 pieces of dense grilled bread - calamari was okay - Love that they do half/full orders for the house made pastas. Reservations were made online 2 weeks in advance and our party of 3 arrived right on time and was seated promptly. The restaurants decor is modern & whimsical. A comfy, vibrant & busy atmosphere that was fun and open. We had assorted appetizers and 3 entree that all were spectacular! I am a lover of oysters, and the assortment offered at Dryft was unmatched! Best I've ever had. Nicely prepared dishes served by friendly and attentive staff in a modern space accented with calming ocean blues. The octopus starter was really tender and flavorful, and the halibut over risotto was fresh and perfectly cooked. The coconut panna cotta was creamy, but light and had a good balance of tropical flavors. The only miss for me was the pear mezcal cocktail which was a bit too sweet for my liking, but everything else was spot on. Gorgeous restaurant, loved the sea-themed decor from the octopus mural to the water-bubble lights. Food is great too. We enjoyed the crabcake starter (served over a nice slaw), seafood risotto, mahi-mahi and corn mango salsa, and the peppercorn beef filets. Food came out fairly quickly. The restaurant wasn't super filled for lunch but there was a big group that took up two large tables that the servers were attending to, so we got a little less attention than I'm sure we would've otherwise. We went to Dryft Wellesley and had a great experience from start to finish. We began with oysters as appetizers. They had two different kinds available that day and both were fresh and full of flavor. We also ordered the crab cakes which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside with a rich, flavorful filling that didn't feel heavy. You could really taste the crab and the seasoning was on point. They were served with a light sauce that complemented them well without overpowering the flavor. For our main course, we each had a chicken entrée that was well cooked and nicely seasoned. It was served hot and plated nicely. The kids ordered from the kids menu and really enjoyed their meals too, which made the dinner stress-free and enjoyable for all of us. The service was great. It was moderately busy when we arrived and it picked up as the evening went on, but our server stayed attentive, polite and kept things moving without delay. Our plates were cleared on time and we never felt rushed. The atmosphere was cozy with a modern touch, making it a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a meal. Parking is limited because of the other businesses in the area, but depending on how busy the day is, it should not be a problem. We would definitely go back. read more

This place dazzled me and I can't wait to return! I have been twice -- once at the bar and once at a table across from the bar. Our experience at the bar was good, but I wanted to try more on the menu so I went back with a friend. We started with the burrata (excellent), shrimp scampi crostini (amazing), wings (incredible), and crab cakes (really good). We then moved to pastas and had the mushroom fusilli, sausage rigatoni and the short rib Bolognese -- all were spectacular! We were so stuffed that we didn't even get to entrees, but I will definitely return to try those. We capped it all off with a warm brownie thing + a cake with fruit -- I don't even eat desserts and I couldn't stop going back for bites of both of these -- OUTSTANDING! I've come here a couple times before and it was fine. Nothing compared to the first time. Sometime in the late spring I believe. I had the best drink ever and was impressed by the menu. Since then, the drink menu has been eh. I suggested it to my friend and she thought it looked good. We started with the octopus starter. Honestly, it was more of like an entrée. It had like a mashed potato with it... it was good but would've served better as an entree imo. For the pasta dishes, they offer you a half portion or a full. A half is $19 and a full is like $28. I got the shrimp Limoncello. It was not creamy as the menu described and it tasted heavily of chicken bouillon. But it did have the tang of a lemon. I was also really Dumbfounded that the difference between the half and the full was 2 shrimp! LMAO ARE YOU SERIOUS? I remember saying that I would bring it home for my boyfriend if I didn't finish it. Yeah right. Another complaint of the night was that my friend stated her lychee martini was all vodka. She's Russian but even that was too much. Honestly, I'm embarrassed that I suggested this place. There was no one in there that night either so there's no excuse it was that bad. Also if it's not that busy, please do not come up to the table 50 times. Sometimes your guests are catching up for the first time in months or years so let them enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
