Superb food, fancy service, and wonderful atmosphere! If you're in NJ Gianna's is a must try. We came after the Giants football game for a birthday dinner. The staff were super knowledgeable and accommodating. A chef's kiss to everything we tried from on menu from the soup to the salad to the salmon you can't go wrong with anything. It a tastes like it came from an Italian grandmother's kitchen..yum! I will definitely be back! #enjoygoodpeople

Conveniently located less than 2 miles from the Meadowland Sport Complex, this classic, family-owned establishment is just the kind of place one would want to find when visiting North Jersey. Our last visit was 4 years ago, and my partner, our friends and I made a return visit yesterday with friends at Gianna's, situated in Carlstadt. Reservations were easily made the day before via Open Table. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff and made our way to a table by the front window. The menu is classic Italian, with either single or family-style portions, and is made with all the attention to detail and quality of ingredients one would expect. We decided on Chicken Parmigiana, Filet of Basa Sole Scampi, Chicken with Fettuccine, Steamed Vegetables, and a side of Broccoli Rabe with Sausage. Complimentary bread started our dinner. Our meal came with a salad. The food was absolutely delicious, well seasoned, and the closest one will get to home-made Italian cooking. Some of us saved room for dessert, as most is made on site, and decided on bread pudding and giant cream puffs. The staff was very funny with a sense of humor. We never felt rushed, and the service was good. We had a great meal as our stomachs were satisfied, which we can continue to recommend.

This was an average place. The pasta was cooked well, but the shrimp was over cooked and extremely tough to chew. I ended up not really eating any of them. The cannoli was great! In terms of table service, our waitress left a lot to be desired. She didn't come to our table unless we called her over. There was another waiter who was telling her to be more attentive but she started a whisper argument with him...right next to our table. It really dampened the mood. We left shortly after that incident happened.

Gianna's is a very small, fancy, and expensive Italian restaurant. The staff is extremely amable and try to make you feel at home. It seems like they tend to get a lot of regulars and get to know you. The menu online greatly different from the restaurant menu. The restaurant serves both single and family sized meals. This place is for like a fancy family dinner. They also give you a small loaf of bread. We got the chicken parm with linguini francese and rigatoni with broccoli rabe and sausage. The chicken parm was very good. I liked the lemon sauce with it. The pieces were very big too. I thoroughly enjoyed the rigatoni plate, which had a very oily sauce though. I loved the broccoli rabe and sausage, which had lots of flavor.

We really enjoyed this place! The lasagna, ravioli and stuffed peppers were REALLY good! The stuffed peppers were really unique and I'm glad we tried it because we really liked it! I have to say, the only thing we didn't like were the meatballs. It just didn't have the right taste to them. Everything else was really good! Loved their wine and prices of wine! The service was great and fast and the inside of the restaurant has a really cute authentic Italian feel to it! I would most definitely come back here again and really enjoyed my meal!

Always drive by here and never went inside until this day! What an amazing experience!! The food was delicious and it was so much that we had leftovers. They started off with warm bread and butter which was hard to stop eating. Then our meals came with salads and pasta (penne vodka was a bit extra). Overall had a great experience and enjoyed the food. Looking forward to going back!

this restaurant was suggested by a coworker who has eaten here many times. As my first time I was willing to try. You really can't go wrong with Italian. However, this wasn't just any Italian restaurant. Gianna's is authentic; like grandmas cooking. Wonderful service, atmosphere and meal. Highly Recommend.

The specials were too many to remember but I ordered the Seabass over greens. The fish was extremely tender and the lemon garlic sauce complemented the greens and the fish perfectly. Others had the seafood risotto, lobster salad and sausage over broccoli rabe. Everything was delicious and our waiter was fantastic and attentive. This was honestly one of the best sea basses I've had in a while. The owner even popped over to say hello, which was very thoughtful. Very warm, welcoming and chic. The service was great, our waitress was very helpful with recommendations. For my drink I got the Sage Whisper. It was delicious. I would definitely recommend if you enjoy gin. We ordered the Feta cheese turnover. It was good but could definitely be better. The block of feta was so massive that it overpowered the dish. If they use like half the amount of feta and added more honey it would've been perfect. I was also expecting apricot to be incorporated into it, but it was just on the side. If they had a layer of apricot jam inside that would literally take it to the next level. For dinner I ordered the Bistecca. My steak was could perfectly but the flavor was a little lacking. Luckily I love steak so i still enjoyed it but I think if it was sliced and topped with the chimichurri and some flaky salt it would've been a lot more flavorful. The steak was also a very generous portion. I did have my eye on the Orecchiette Rabe e Sausage. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back to try it.

There's just something about them that you can't recreate. Yesterday, my buddies and I were supposed to hit The Belmont Tavern, but they were closed for the week. Rather than scrap the plan, we pivoted to Matthew's Italian Restaurant at the suggestion of one of the guys in the crew. What a great find. We were pleasantly surprised that an old school spot like this had somehow escaped us all these years. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, the staff was awesome, and most importantly, the food delivered. We came out swinging with Clams Oreganata, Meatballs, Stuffed Mushrooms, Mozzarella Carrozza, and two different types of Ravioli. Needless to say, the table filled up pretty quickly. For dinner, most of the crew went with either the Veal Parm or Chicken Parm. A nice touch is that they'll do the parm with vodka sauce if you want to switch things up. I went with the steak special and had absolutely no regrets. Dessert was on point too, but I'll leave a little something to your imagination. Garlic knots were perfect. The pizza tho. Ugh, it was so bad. They made a cheese mushroom pizza with way too much cheese and then put the vodka sauce on top after!!! Like a drunken grandma pie. That's not what I wanted. I asked for, "a cheese pizza with vodka sauce." It was so soggy that it soaked through the bottom of the box. Stayed soggy even after reheating in the oven. THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Food flavors were solid, but there were definitely some misses and things that could have been a bit better (mentioned below). ++++ Calamari wasn't spectacular, but it was still decent. It could have been a bit crispier. ++++ Lentil Soup that was served with our entrees was very good. It didn't come out hot, but instead lukewarm, however it was very flavorful. ++++ Chicken Parmigiana was hugeeeeee! It was 1 gynormous piece of breaded chicken on a plate to itself! The linguine was on its own side plate. The chicken parm was fantastic though - lots of sauce, crispy exterior and delicious. ++++ Filet of Sole stuffed with Crab Meat was exactly how I like it, stuffffed to the gills with crab meat! It was basically a giant crab cake wrapped with a filet of sole and it was mmm mmmm good. It came with a vegetable medley and a round potato croquette. ++++ Surf and Turf was to my liking, but not my better half's. The steak was requested at medium, but it was definitely medium rare. I was perfectly fine with it, but not my wife. The lobster tail was excellent though. ++++ Ricotta Pistachio Cheesecake was delicious! Very soft and different than your average solid cheesecake. Get it! + Restaurant is suppppper spacious with 2 dining rooms and lots of tables. + Huge parking lot all around the restaurant. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Undercooked steak mentioned above was a semi-biggie.
