I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at the restaurant in June. We had a reservation for 25 and arrived at approximately 5:30pm. The service was absolutely horrible. We did not receive our dinner until 8:30pm; we had small children in our party. We asked the owner several times and the chef where our food was, they said they were "busy." We took note there were approximately three other couples in the restaurant. The owner became defensive and very aggressive . The owner was extremely unprofessional and non-apologetic for the entire evening. His excuse was, they are not used to a big party. I do not leave reviews on anything, but this deserves one for sure. I have never in my entire life been more disrespected by staff at a restaurant before. I was verbally harassed by the "manager" or whoever she is. She made rude, disgusting comments about what I was wearing. I will not get into detail at the moment, as there will be several complaints filed with the restaurant. I am so disappointed that someone like that woman, who refused to give me her name, works anywhere at all. Wow!! My husband and I were dropping my daughter off at MetLife and we were hangry!! I was in the mood for Italian and Gianna's didn't disappoint!! We had rigatoni with sun dried tomatoes and artichokes (love the garlic) and the chicken Parmesan! As an appetizer we had the long Italian hot peppers stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella and baked with breadcrumbs!! You can order single servicing or family portions. AND very reasonably priced!! Once you walk in you feel like you are at home or a relatives cozy basement at Christmas time. There is Frank Sinatra playing in the background at a nice low level Christmas lights around the bar.........This was a good start!!!! Very comfortable surroundings. (Old School Italian) The owner bought the restaurant 19 years ago and named it after his 6 month old daughter Gianna. The evening I was there I ate at the bar and had a very pleasant conversation with the manager. A woman who has been with the family and restaurant since they opened. The food was excellent!! This is our New Year's Eve "hot spot". Ever since we started dating we always came to Gianna's for New Years Eve. We were trying to find a go to date spot and that's what lead us here, and now it's our last meal of the year! Their calamari is crispy and our go to appetizer. You can't really go wrong with any of their dishes. On New Year's Eve there is a family style menu, we switch up our protein dish but we always get the gnocchi with vodka sauce. Completely amazing! We ordered the eggplant rollatini...oh my goodness...seriously, it was extremely delicious from the marinara to the perfect amount of cheese. I'm salivating just thinking of it! The restaurant has personal and family style portions, but two people could definitely share one entree. The main course consisted of chicken rollatini and chicken francaise...I requested the penne as my side and for it to be served with the same sauce..mmmmm....WINNER, both dishes were spectacular and came with a refreshing salad. OMG Where to start? I know.. first : I don't have pictures with the food! Had lunch at Gianna's twice and because I was starving and the food looks soooo goood and smells sooooooooooo good I started eating right away. I had: - long hot peppers with prosciutto and parmesan - delicious! perfect cooked, tasty prosciutto - penne alla vodka - small size ( even the small size is more than I can eat so I always share .. ) . I swear these are the best penne alla vodka I ever had in my life! - a chocolate cake desert with ice cream - very good :) Pasta comes with a small garden salad - always perfectly seasoned. And, like any truly Italian place they have warm bread . The ladies that served us are sweet nice ladies, a real pleasure to go there. Tried the fra diavolo, and the shrimp had the consistency of mashed potatoes. Spit it out. Scary & creepy! Request al dente linguine and it was non-edibly over cooked. Sauted artichokes appeared jarred, not fresh and were so sour they also were also inedible. Rund away from this place! read more

Wow what a phenomenal meal . We started with a gorgonzola salad which was so big, we could of shared. We had the hot antipasto which comes with clams shrimp mushrooms artichoke and stuffed pepper. It was the best Ive had. We rested a while and had our entries which were veal cutlet parmigiana Best I've had. My wife had the penne vodka. What great vodka sauce. Gianna's Restaurant: I ate at Gianna's once and once was enough: here's the breakdown Food: 2 Stars: I ordered Veal parmesan which was ok but nothing special. They did not use enough cheese in my opinion and it tasted processed. Service: 0 Stars. Our waiter was one of the rudest food service people I have ever encountered. This person was so rude to my ex-girlfriend (otherwise now known as BBE or Biggest Bitch Ever) that I immediately spoke to the manager and asked that they be fired. It was awful. The food also took a long time to come out. Atmosphere: 2 Stars. Standard atmosphere. Restaurant was quiet but bar was quite loud I probably wouldn't eat here ever again even if that rude waiter wasn't there. So, this is a local place that the wife and I have been meaning to check out for a few years now but for one reason or another never got around to until last night. We arrived a little after 9:00 pm and were seated immediately as there were only 2 other occupied tables in the fining room at this hour, although the bar was fairly active. My first observation was that the folks here need to be a tad less conservative with their thermostat! It wasn't all that cold outside (mid 40's) but it was cold enough inside that we wound up eating with our coats on! We decided to pass on an appy and ordered 2 entrees. I ordered the Linguine with White Clam Sauce and the wife choose the Eggplant Parm with Linguine. . the entrees each came with a house salad which was OK. Fresh & balanced. The bread, was another matter. A round Italian, it would have been far better if it had been hot, or even slightly warm but it was really cold. Our entrees were served fairly quickly. And that may have been part of the problem. I was served a nice sized portion of linguine with copious amounts of clams and even a couple of little necks on the shell, which I though was a nice touch. My first issue was with the pasta. I actually like my pasta a bit al dente but this stuff really could have stood another minute or two at the boil. Next was the clam sauce. I've been thinking about how to describe it since last night and was having trouble putting my finger on it. Then I realized that the reason for this was exactly the problem. While it didn't completely lack flavor, what little there was just didn't grab me. Frankly, when I was the amount of coarsely chopped garlic mixed in with the clams, I was afraid it might be a bit overwhelming.As it turned out, I barely tasted it, or any other seasoning. My wife had similar issues with her choice. While she found the eggplant itself quite nice, the fresh tomato sauce it was served with was very bland and rather unappetizing. Her linguine was also undercooked to her tastes. The over all theme of the meal being that everything seemed to need more time cooking and allowing some flavors to build. I don't know if it was just that it was late and the kitchen staff was rushing the meals looking to get out or what but the end result was a completely unremarkable and unmemorable experience that I have no desire to repeat. read more

First things first- their website needs to be updated, especially for finning on holidays (family orders ONLY) Their "free" salad is basically a bag salad from a supermarket with dressing on the side, no effort is put into this salad- total disappointment. Gianna's is a local place very close to work, so it was an easy choice for a business lunch . This was my second trip to Gianna's and the second time I left happy. On my first trip there, I had the rigatoni with broccoli rabe and sausage- which is a dish rigth out of my childhood. Today I opted for the Gnocchi Bolognese. The tell for me was how light the gnocchi were- a heavy gnocchi, or a gummy gnocchi would be a problem- these gnocchi were just right. The sauce was a lighter tomato sauce, with only a little ground beef. I'm used to bolognese with much more meat init, but this version ended up working well - a little lighter and well balanced than the heavier version I tend to make- which turned out to be a good match for the gnocchi. The dining room is on the small side, but is well kept, and has the right amount of old-world charm. The wait staff was attentive and friendly- their only flaw was that they left us waiting for a long time for the check (and we eventually had to ask for it). The restaurant is situated in an area that is mostly business/industrial just up the road from Giant's Stadium, so I believe most of their business happens around lunch time, or when there's a game or event at the stadium, so I doubt that they get particularly crowded for their dinner service on most nights. read more

Had dinner here last night and loved it. There was a big party going on upstairs but it didn't bother us. We could not hear them in the dining area where we ate. The bar and TV area is also separate from the dining area, which is a plus to me. I saw stuffed peppers on the menu as an appetizer but was kind of shocked at the price. I could almost buy six prepared stuffed peppers in COSTCO for almost the same price. But I ordered it anyhow and when the dish came I was pleasantly surprised. I could have made a meal out of it instead of an appetizer. The pepper was deliciously stuffed and was in a very tasteful red sauce surrounded by mushrooms. Delicious. Glad I ordered it. For the main course, I ordered Veal Saltimbocca. Gianna's is one of the few remaining restaurants that put egg on top of the veal. It was amazing. They also served bread, salad and pasta with the meal. The sauce for their pasta was wonderful. The service was fast and friendly. I loved everything about the place and will be back. And yes, I will be getting the stuffed pepper again. read more

Earlier in the week I set up a reservation and was able to call in and pick items I wanted right off the back. When we got there, we were seated right away at a great long window seat. Everything we ordered was amazing. So much flavor. Great portion sizes (we ordered family style) chichen parm -2, chicken piccata, filet of sole, and penned vodka, and salad. They had great warm bread too! We even left with food. Since it was my nephew graduation we wanted to bring our own dessert and they were totally ok with that. I had to become a regular after my first visit.. Every single aspect about Gianna's is purely IMPECCABLE - truly a dream. The owners are so sweet and have such a good flavor palette that really reflects on the menu choices. Every drink is nice and strong (but not too much!) and the cappuccino's are to DIE for!! Very intimate for a date night, call in advance and ask for a booth- it is the most comfy and cool place to sit and really sets up a private and romantic atmosphere. The Penne Vodka and Chicken Balsamic are absolutley immaculate Italian dishes that I literally can't stay away from..... I order extra just to take home to have again it's just that good. Never again will I have to overpay at this establishment. The decor was pretty but the tables had a poor layout. Our appetizers took 1 hour 35 minutes to arrive. At least the measured drinks showed up on a semi regular basis. One appetizer tasted so off we sent it back and were assured it was removed from the bill. Later we needed to ask again for it to be removed. The portions are large enough to be shared but the quality lacked. We were not offered coffee or desert. I wanted to spend more money but they were not interested in allowing me to do so. read more

It's been a while since we ate at Giannas. I am so glad we went back. The food was awesome and they really treated us very well. I bought a Groupon for Giannas which gave me the reason to go back and I am glad we did. They offer family style portions or single portions. Since it was just the 2 of us, we ordered the single portions. The main dishes came with a salad and the choice of vegtables or pasta. My wife ordered the Talipia special with clams and mussells and she could not stop bragging about the dish. I ordered the Chicken Contidina which was chicken on the bone, sausage, potato's, mushrooms, onions in a very light tomato sauce. It took a little time to make but it was worth the wait. I'm glad we went back to Gianna's. We'll be back again real soon. read more
