Really clean grocery store. This reminds me of Winn Dixie in Miami, Florida. There have many discounts and sales on selected food and items. My Mom came to pick up several items for her house to cook and I tagged along. I really love their green seedless grapes which I picked up a pack. Giants also has a rewards and savings card for groceries and gas for your car. They have the bakery where you order cakes and etc., deli where you can purchase sliced sandwich meats and etc. They also have customer service where you can take care of other businesses for your needs. There is an employee name Arshi that makes your shopping experience extremely uncomfortable. She stood less than 10ft away from me making sure i scanned each item in self checkout while other customers were also checking out not being HAWKED over. It was behavior of profiling. I only came here to pick up a few items - fruits, veggies and milk. I was able to find what I needed - got some grapes (trying the cotton candy ones again - in the plastic case), baby carrots (wished they were a little bit smaller in size) and milk (they didn't have much selections to choose from). I didn't interact with any employees (the ones I saw were more near the check-out areas - didn't see any walking about the store). I checked out my items using one of their self- check-out lanes, so it was quick. I don't usually come here to do my main grocery shopping - only visit to pick up a few items if I am near the area. read more

We were just at the Shady Grove Rockville MD store. They had ONE register open at 2:15 in the afternoon on a Saturday with a line of 4-5 people with full carts. So we went to self checkout with our full cart of almost $300 in groceries. But there's only room for a few bags at the self checkout so the system keeps hanging up when you remove bags. They need either more cashiers or a better self checkout process. Otherwise I'll just go back to Safeway. We spend way too much there to be treated like this. read more

It depends on the branch. Personally I prefer Wegman's to several branches of Giant. The one in Derwood has some very nice employees, which for me counts as much as products! read more

I prefer going to this grocery store rather than the other nearby. The layout here seems more logical to me and it is easier to navigate though the wider aisles. I've never had bad customer service and they are usually very nice. I appreciate the fact that they offer a free piece of fruit to children who are shopping with their family! read more

Eh. No seafood or meat department. This Giant offers only frozen seafood or prepackaged meat. Not a fan. None of the staff here seem to like to smile or greet you, especially the ones working check-out and bagging. Next time I'll be driving a few more miles and minutes for my grocery needs. read more

It was unsettling to see chemicals sitting unused and noone wiping down the self check registers as customer after customer use those machines, one after the other, the staff sat idle on the windowsill right there, chatting and playing on their phones. Dissapointed in this grocery store. Items are frequently out of stock, the store is usually a mess, and on more than two occasions I've bought items only to discover they are out of date. Prices are higher than other nearby stores. The store also needs a remodel and the parking lot needs to be paved. I try to avoid this store when possible. read more

This location is the closest to me so it's really convenient, plus they are cheaper than Safeway. In addition, I don't like the meat from Safeway. But it's kind of crappy. Anyhoo, the place irritates me. The set up is antiquated, there is no self check out, they have a limited supply of EVERYTHING, and for whatever reason Coca Cola products there are gross. They somehow manage to have the flattest or near flat soda on the planet. I don't know how they manage this, but they do. If you have an allergies, or if you like speciality items, you're not going to find it at this location. It's a really scaled back low budget Giant compared to the other locations in Gaithersburg and Rockville. read more

This is my closest Giant and I shop here often because of the convenience but I must say that the employees at this store are so mean! I've had the worst possible interactions with some of these people. I am not a confrontational person at all so I avoid talking back or arguing so this store is not for me. I've been treated so badly by cashiers and service managers. I will avoid certain cashiers when possible and same for customer service but it's getting to the point where I'll start shopping somewhere else. I hate walking on eggshells so I don't upset the employees. It's like they treat you like you're a loser for shopping here.... like they're doing you a favor by helping you out or checking out at the register. I dunno. I'm not sure what this attitude is about by I'd rather not shop here. This is not a good store if you want to be treated kindly and with respect. read more

I go there all the time and no issues and convenient and close .The other day I had Bad experience and which was a shocker to me , staff are friendly. It was raining and I had brought with me a cart from the parking lot and came in saw that there was no spray or paper towels to wipe the cart down with . I i asked the staff which she was sitting or resting N1 of the electronic's chairs for handicap (short with glass Caucasian )and asked if she had spray or paper towels to wipe the cart down and she said i don't need spray or towels because all carts are clean and i said i pulled the cart from the parking lot , so its not cleaned and rolled here eyes at me left that day . This location is very convenient. It's located right by the Shady grove metro station, directly off of shady grove rd, and accessible exit if you're coming from MD-200/ I-370. Staff is helpful and friendly. It would be helpful to relocate the redbox closer to the entrance/exit. They could use one or two self check outs. GIANT IS CHEAPER THEN MOST GROCERY STORES ON MOST ITEMS! I was here buying some strawberries real quick, and the price rang up wrong. I told my cashier Josh the right price and he took off that amount which was $2.5/box. He was speedy and I also saw him helping some other customers out even though hes a cashier. Very friendly and nice. He was very quick too and saw that I left my grocery bags so without asking gave me a bag which is nice cause asking people if they want a bag is tacky. I had 17 items don't think I can hand carry it to the car without a bag. On the way out I saw a coupon spend $25 or more and get a 24pack of water for $2.88 and a box of strawberries for $1.88. Went to customer service and asked them if I spent another $4 would they accept the coupons for me and of course they did. This store is very clean and they also seem to have more cashiers then most grocery stores. Probably to build a more personable relationship. I am moving to this area, and this is the closest chain grocery store. I am familiar and have been to other Giants. This particular one is very disappointing. I went to the deli to get cheese, and the kid behind the counter looked hungover, and his pants were sagging. I literally can tell you what kind of underwear he was wearing! The scales were dirty, and so was the cheese slicers. I walked down to the meat section, and the floor was stained with meat blood. It looked like someone dripped meat blood without mopping it up. The checkout was slow, and there is no self-checkout. I will not use this location for groceries. I will travel the extra miles to a cleaner grocery store. read more

I've been here to this supermarket and thought it was acceptable in the past, though I was never impressed with selection. However, today I saw three staff members wearing masks low over their mouths, not covering their noses, two of which were handling food. One of the three was handling raw vegetables and was wearing disposable gloves and stopped to sweep the floor with broom and dustpan and then resumed handling raw uncovered vegetables without changing gloves. I would think during the COVID 19 situation handling food safely would be a priority. read more

This is a cool little Giant Grocery Store located in MoCo Suburb. It resides in a strip mall with a number of other small mom and pop stores. Also, a couple of larger franchises such as McDonald, Subway, and a couple of banks. My experience the grocery store has always been clean and well maintained. The staff and cashiers are "lifers". Mostly all long term employees with Giant. Everyone is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. This is one of the smaller Giant Grocery Store which probably coincides with the community. There is no bank tellers or automated self checkout registers within the store like some of the larger locations. read more

New to the area and this Giant is the closest grocery store. On my first trip, I purchased items only to find them moldy several days later. Okay, my fault for not checking the expiration date. On my second trip, I checked for expiration dates. Very few items had dates on them and the ones that did were to be sold by that day or the next. My third trip will be my last trip. Items purchased on Thursday are now moldy or rotting. Staff is not friendly and there are no self check out lanes. The entire store needs to be updated. read more

I live in about 15 minutes from this store but I come here to get my prescriptions filled. Lydia is the lady that works the pharmacy counter and is an absolute delight to work with. I had posted a review previously and although much of the shopping experience there REMAINS a disappointment, the Pharmacy was a saving grace. SCRATCH THAT! Twice my Rx was misplaced and rather than simply apologize for the oversight, they blamed my Doctor's office. By the time it was all straightened out, those who were working were rude and UN-apologetic - including the Pharmacist himself. Ordered a 1/2 sheet cake on Friday, came to pick it up today (Sunday) and they had not made it. The order was "accidentally placed in the wrong pile." The cake decorator had already gone home for the day (this was at 2pm). The woman behind the counter was mortified and suggested I pick up a frozen cake. Since I was on my way to the party, I didn't have the 3-4 hour time frame for the cake to thaw. I drove up to Wegmans where they had refrigerated, not frozen, half sheets that were half chocolate/half vanilla like I had requested already prepared. Very disappointed in Giant. read more

I've shopped at this particular Giant for the past 37 years because it is convenient to where I live. It's not a huge store but it takes care of 95% of my routine shopping needs. If I am in need of some special off brand I go elsewhere. My biggest gripe about this particular store is the lack of checkers, and the fact that they do not offer self-checkout. Also the express line is often not open. This is inexcusable. Despite a few earlier reviews, I find the staff to be friendly, and there IS a fresh fish department. read more
