I've been shopping at the Parkville, MD store weekly for 12 years. This past 6 months or more have been intolerable! The staff is incredibly rude and unhelpful in Deli, Meat and Front End. They never have all sale items in stock. Tags are in the wrong places so you end up paying more than you thought you were going to. Be sure to check ALL expiration dates. EVERY week I find items that are passed the "sell by" date in Deli, Dairy and Grocery. I'm fed up and after today, NEVER shopping there again!!! read more

I think this Giant A-OK. I did have asparagus on the grocery list today and was unable to purchase any. They had a big display area for the vertically stored veggies, but there was no water in it so the stems were like wet pasta and no good. I really like their homemade meals to go, the rotisserie chicken, and the bakery. This location always has a decent selection of pastries and bread. I also like that you can buy local cookies like Berger and Otterbein. The flower and plant section here is also Very Good! I don't think they had frozen bread dough which I really wish some grocery store somewhere in Maryland offered this so I can make pepperoni rolls. This store is in my neighborhood and I am here regularly. I enjoy shopping here and the employees are super nice at the self checkout. The parking lot is huge. You open at 6am...but are you prepared for business? Not. Even. Close. It was a waste of my time to go out this morning. The fruit and vegetables were picked over and many of the vegetable bins were empty. The salad selections are getting worse each week - most look like they were purchased as seconds at best. Brown, wilted vegetables overall at premium prices. Who is the produce manager there?? Ugh. I would rather drive the extra few miles and go to Aldis, Walmart or Weis for quality produce. It's been like this for the last few years, but it's actually getting worse. Terrible location. Produce section is terrible. The "fresh seafood" section stinks. There are never enough cashiers here. The self check out line is always 10+ people deep with 1-2 cashiers working at most. I try to avoid this place as much as possible and only come when I absolutely need to for a few items. read more

Hello all! My name is Rachel and due to Corona my now husband and I decided to push our big wedding celebration back a year, however! We decided to go ahead and get legally married now. So what does that have to do with Giant? We decided to use Giant and this location for our catering as well as for flowers as well! The flowers were a surprise as my Mom asked them florist Cherie (I hope I got your name right!) to make me a BEAUTIFUL bouquet (see pictures)! And the food tasted great (cheese and fruit tray, veggie tray, had couple trays of sandwiches)(also see pics). Only stopped in this store just before my hair appointment. It was a rather large location. I didn't get a chance to look at everything. I felt like I needed more than the time that I had to browse through this store. It was extremely clean and stocks were well stocked. I was very happy when Giant renovated and opened up as the anchor in this strip mall. It's in an accessible location, has plenty of parking, and there's a liquor store right next door so you can get all your supplies in one stop. There's really nothing to distinguish this store from any other of the chain. The staff is okay - they're doing okay but can be absent when needed, and the help behind the deli counter can run hot and cold. Generally things work out fine but not really blue ribbon. The produce is decent and the layout is clean and relatively well organized. The prices can run a bit high, but hey in this economy what isn't? It's a chain grocery store - it is what it is. read more

Just left there are 4:25 pm on the 4th of July. I went to get the 8.99 show crab legs. The display was empty and they only had the frozen ones prepackaged by the store. I grabbed those and asked the older white man at the seafood department if he could steam them. He told me no. I asked why, since they were the same frozen one in the display case yet proceeded to tell me no.he wasn't friendly at all. Down right rude. I will never patronize this place again read more

Very expensive compared to Walmart up the street. The self-checkout machines need to be replaced ASAP. They require you to place everything in the bagging area, while it weighs what you've scanned, and you've got to do it quickly... if you don't do it fast enough, or you try to bag something separately, or you run out of room, the thing will start blinking and requires a staff member to reset it. This is frustrating, mainly because Walmart's self checkout is so smooth, it makes you really impatient dealing with the Giant ones, but its also frustrating because the staff aren't very attentive or friendly. They only open one regular cash register, and the other line is for self-checkout... both lines stretch halfway to the back of the store many times. All in all I'd skip this place if you can. Go to Walmart instead. read more

The opening of this new Giant located in the former Superfresh location in Parkville that also was home to a Fresh and Greens for a short period of time was eagerly anticipated by the community. I appreciate the fact that Giant took the time and money to do some remodeling of the out of date Superfresh store. They opened this store the right way unlike their predecessor Fresh and Greens. I like the changes although I can see the neighborhood people (myself included) wandering down the wrong aisles to find things that have been moved. The produce section has been improved upon the most and the produce offered there is better that what Superfresh had previously. My complaint with this new store lies with their prices. Sale items are good deals but a lot of essentials are overpriced. For instance, $2.89 for a dozen large eggs. $4.69 a pound for 80/20 ground beef only sold in 1.5 pound packs, $1.99 for a green bell pepper, etc. I was in there the day before Easter and needed to get some of that fake grass stuff for Easter baskets as well but it was $3.00 a pack. Instead of paying these ridiculous prices I went to the Bi-Rite down the road and paid $1.39 for jumbo eggs, $2.69 a pound for 84/14 ground round, $0.59 a pound for green bell peppers and $0.69 for fake Easter basket grass. I realize that the Giant is a larger, nicer store offering better selection but that doesn't justify nearly triple the cost. I understand that if I'm buying aged prosciutto, Australian leg of lamb or another specialty item like that that it'll be more expensive but the prices here seem out of line with what the neighborhood is used to paying. Total for all items at Giant: $14.92 Total for all items at Bi Rite: $5.06 C'mon now Giant...you didn't expect us not to notice did you? read more

The store overall is clean and serviceable. Cashiers are OK but not super friendly. One big issue is the presence of panhandlers in the parking lot. The management really needs to lean on better security enforcement. read more

Great Customer Service! All three employees I ran into were very friendly and helpful. They even offered to help take the bags to my car. Because the employees geniunely seem to enjoy working there and want to help you, it makes the entire shopping experience better. 5 stars. Keep it up Giant! read more

Lines are always obnoxiously long in the evening. Produce is not top quality. Bakery has amazing Rosemary bread when I went before. One plus is that they seem to have the self scanner you can take with you now. All we have close to the area so guess we have to deal. read more

Giant disappointment. After 25 years grocery shopping at the Parkville Shopping Center it's time for a change. Poor customer service (e.g. today a bagger walked away when I asked to use a frig bag for my frozen food), weekly entry errors from the cashiers, and generally cluttered aisles. I live near the Giant grocery store on E Market st in York and have seen it go thru 3 "remodels" over the past 10 years . None have really been an improvement, but the most recent one is the worst. The entire contents of the store have been reshuffled, seemingly to no purpose. Many shoppers appear frustrated when trying to find items. Some long- staple items apparently have disappeared from the shelves altogether or are in hiding. For example, my husband came home from shopping there last week and informed me that the baked beans (typically found with canned prepared foods) are now in the same aisle with the potato chips. ?!? And, potato chips can now be found in 3 different places. Why? There is now a large "beer garden" area where shoppers can sit & drink. Who needs this? Since opening about a month ago I have yet to see anyone sitting & drinking there. However, the ability to buy 6 packs of beer is a long-overdue improvement and it seems popular. The last straw was a week ago when my husband brought home a 1/2 gallon of skim milk - when I opened it the next day, I noted the "sell-by" date was 3 WEEKS earlier! Needless to say, I immediately took it back . The manager agreed that this is unacceptable and gave me a $10 gift card. That was appreciated by me. I am hoping that the latest remodel is not just a facelift and that the quality and freshness of food sold there improves.
