I recently purchased a bike at Giant Santa Monica and Elon and crew were nothing short of accommodating. The first thing you will notice about this bike shop compared to some of the other shops around the LA area is how clean it is. The store itself is well kept and everything is organized in a fashion that doesn't look like someone threw a bunch of stuff around. The next thing that is going to happen is you are going to be greeted by one of the staff pretty much immediately. This is a completely different feeling than what you get at other bike shops where the staff is more concerned with people who are very familiar with cycling and you will be left to wander off and try and find what you are looking for. The crew here will let you know they are there if you need them and they won't be hard to find when you actually have some questions that need answering. On my initial visit, I spoke to Elon and told him what I wanted and within 10 minutes I was sized for the bike and placed an order. They didn't have the particular model in stock so I was given a date when it would arrive and I went off on my way. A bit after placing my order for my bike I decided I wanted a certain set of features on my bike that my initial bike order didn't have - so I shot Elon an e-mail and voiced my concerns for what I wanted. His first priority was making sure I was happy with the bike I was ordering and he was able to work with me to get me the bike I REALLY wanted. I then cancelled the order for the first bike ordered and placed the new order all via e-mail without any hassle. In the process of waiting for the bike to arrive I had noticed that they did have stock of the bike I wanted but one size above what Elon had sized me for. Being a little impatient, I contacted Elon and told him I was willing to get a bike a size larger if I could pick up the bike sooner and he flat out told me he would not sell me a bike that was the wrong size. Make no mistake they are there to make money (they are a business) but they are not going to do it at the expense of their customer and their integrity. I was actually shocked that he would turn down a quick sell to make sure that I had the right sized bike. Most other stores would have given you the bike and took your money without even thinking about it. I really appreciate the honesty and bluntness and that's not something you get much anymore. Elon kept me updated of the status on my bike and when it arrived he contacted me immediately. Since the bike that I ordered needed to be cut to the rider I told Elon I would need a bike fitting and he scheduled me right away. When I arrived to pick up my bike I got my bike fit done by Carly. Now, I have been fitted by one of the other bike shops in the area and I felt they rushed me in and out because I was not a hardcore cyclist. Carly was the complete opposite. She took her time, measured me up, adjusted things all while explaining everything she was doing and how it would affect my riding. I definitely felt like I paid for what I got with this fitting compared to the other shop. I have been riding on her fit and everything has been pretty flawless and my rides have been painless. Do yourself a favor and if you are getting a bike that you plan on spending a lot of time with get a fit it will make a world of a difference. After I took the bike home and put a couple of rides on it the bike needed some quick adjustments. I dropped by unexpectedly without an appointment and all the adjustments were immediately made by Elon and their service tech (his name escapes me) with no questions asked. It was an all-around great experience ordering a bike from here. If you want a bike with no BS and a shop that will work with you every step of the way do not hesitate to come to Giant Santa Monica. They are in the business of selling people bikes that they want and not moving massive amounts of volume at the expense of their customers. This bike shop is hands down the best bike shop of ALL TIME bc of the people, customer service and bike selection/availability of supplies. Elon and Willie are both a 10/10! They are both knowledgeable, friendly, timely and precise. I've known them for probably at least 5 years now and only go there to have all my bikes serviced. I recently purchased a custom Indy Fab from their shop (do not be mistaken by the name Giant SM - it's a bike shop of collectable, high end museum type of bikes too). The bike was fully outfitted and is one of a kind. Additionally, Willie is fab with bike fits as he fitted this bike for a solo bike tour and I had zero pain or issues. This is the place to go! I got my Giant TCR Advanced 2020 here. At the time I was looking at a few different options and visited several other shops. I ended up going for a bike that was just out of my budget for one reason: Willy! Everyone here is great, but Willy went through everything I needed to know, and even showed me comparable competing bikes, and explained how they may be better options. In the end I came back to Giant Santa Monica to complete my purchase from Willy. Later on I came back to have my fitting and once again the customer service was beyond stellar! We must have spent well over an hour going through every detail, ensuring my fit was not just comfortable, but that I understood the changes that were being made, and why they made sense. Came in on Monday June 15 and was helped by the super friendly Elon! He definitely knew a lot about bikes, answered every question I had, and helped me find the perfect Giant bicycle for me. I was able to test ride Giant's Momentum, Alight 2 and Cypress DX W by just giving them my Driver License while I test rode it around the block. Although I first chose the Alight 2 (for women), I later changed my mind. They were kind enough to let me exchange it (I had not ridden it yet) for the Cypress DX W, which is so comfortable, easy to ride, and smooth (no wobbling! even though I haven't ridden for the past few years). After I purchased my bike, Elon offered to help me fit it into my trunk and showed me how to remove the front wheel. STORE Has a good variety of Giant bicycles, though call ahead to make sure they have the one you want in stock. They even had a small corner for children's bicycles! And throughout the store, there's bicycle accessories like patches, tires, air pumps, bottle holders, etc. OVERALL For anyone interested in getting a bike, I highly recommend Giant (go Taiwan!). Remember to ask for Elon. :) PARKING It was pretty easy to find close street parking when I went in the afternoon during the weekday. read more

I've been to Giant Santa Monica a couple times and they've been great each time. I have a Giant TCR and got a tune-up and a bike fit (Willie helped me with the bike fit and has a ton of knowledge). A few months later I came in because my bike broke while on a ride and they helped me get a part replacement through warranty within two weeks that I thought would take much longer. The owner, Elon, is very active and makes sure everything is running smoothly and is very communicative. The best bike shop in Santa Monica? Yep. My girlfriend and I went around town looking for a new bike during these weird COVID times and most shops were dismissive and uninterested in selling new bikes (perhaps understandable given the situation). However, we made an appointment to look around in Giant and the customer service blew us away. Beautiful, clean shop with incredibly friendly and knowledgeable employees. Larry is the best mechanic in the region and Elon (Owner) and Willie bring years of experience and knowledge on bicycles and on training to the most experienced rider and to the beginner rider. Folks at this shop are both very knowledgeable and helpful. They've helped me out with a number of recent issues with my bikes. First, they straightened out my King bottom bracket which had been incorrectly installed by another local bike shop -- these guys know their stuff. They also handled a warranty repair for an FD on a bike that I had purchased at another shop (no longer in business). They've also advised me on some new wheels (as well as finding them in-stock, a difficult task these days). I've referred a friend to this shop who purchased a new Giant and couldn't be happier with both the bike, the fit, and the service. They're also avid riders. This is a modification of my previous review. In talking with the store owner, the store was not open in its scheduled time because the employee was hit by a car on the way in. This fully explains the missed opening time, and is understandable (and particularly tragic for a bike store). I am told the employee is okay. The staff was extremely helpful! I called to get some advice on how to go about mounting a SRAM eagle drivetrain on my Giant Trance, which came with a Shimano direct mount. The staff member searched the Internet while on the phone with me to help me determine that I would need a different derailleur hanger. I wish to thank Giant of Santa Monica, in particular Willie who assisted me with the sale of my new Liv Langma. For the last three weeks I had been researching women's specific road bikes size XS or 44cm. I have a women's specific already and so wanted a second bike that is just as sleek and nimble. The sizing I need is really hard to find in stores as stock. Most bicycle shops do not carry them but will try to get you on to a larger frame. Willie will not do that, he has a keen eye and experienced enough to know exactly what sizing you need. So my husband (who loves bikes) and I drove there a two weeks ago and were greeted by my salesman Willie. I told him the type of bike I was interested in and he walked us over to the Liv section. I fell in love with the Langma but I wanted to test ride it. It felt really good even though it was not fitted to me. So we bought the bike and last Wednesday I went in for a bike fit. Willie had me take in my Amira so that both bikes would have the same measurements and thus I can switch bikes with out a problem. He even changed my positioning a little. This weekend I took the Langma out on Saturday for a 30 mile ride and it felt really good so I rode it again on Sunday 75 miles with climbs and guess what? No pain!! I was a little noodled leg on Monday but that is to be expected. So I have to give Giant of Santa Monica and Willie 5 stars. Thank you all for your help. P.S. About a year ago, I purchased an Open Wide gravel bike from Giant Santa Monica. I worked with Elon who I believe is the owner. I waited until now to review the place, because I wanted to see how the follow-up service was. I can now attest to how amazing the experience was and continues to be. Not only does Elon know his stuff and can really educate you on all the little details for a custom built, but he continues to be there to help you after the purchase. No matter what degree of normal maintenance is needed, Elon continues to make time for you. Even when the shop was boarded up during the riots in Santa Monica, Elon opened the backdoor to make sure his customers were taken care. Don't let the name "Giant" Santa Monica fool you. I purchased my first road bike on Friday 8-14-16. Brand new 2017 models that were not out yet. I wanted the Giant fast-road SLR 1. 2016's were sold out, but no worries, Elon got the 2017 model in ASAP. By Today (Tuesday)Got it off the fedex truck, put it ahead of other bikes that were on que and got his guy to assemble it. He then called me to pick it up. RIDES GREAT! I bought my Defy Advanced 3 here (better deal than any other store btw) and everyone at the shop has been beyond helpful from the jump. I split my inner tube a few days after purchase ('cause I was having too much fun w my new awesome bike) and Giant SM replaced it for free. Another for instance: recently my gears were slightly sticking, and they serviced the bike. Again, free of charge. Not only that, they're a chill group of knowledgeable/patient peeps over there (big ups to Elon). And that goes a long way.
