The items to put into the hotpot were fine, though we couldn't tell some of the meats apart. The spicy sauces they had at their sauce bar was not spicy at all. They also didn't have sesame oil, which was a bit surprising. The most annoying part was that their credit card machine wasn't working that day, which they never said up front before we started ordering. I used to love this place but the past few visits are huge disappointments. First and foremost, the condiment bar is dirty. There are multiple gnats hovering above the uncovered sauces. I notified our server and he just shrugged "it's been like that". We were the only customers in the restaurant. He was mostly just hanging out by the cashier, he could have cleaned the condiment bar easily. I lost my appetite after seeing the bugs flying around the condiment bar. Even though we were the only people in the restaurant, they did not check on us at all. The table next to us was not cleaned up until an hour after they left. Meat quality is subpar at best. Beef slices are either super fatty or not marbled at all. Each plate of beef tongue looks different, their quality is not very consistent. They used to bring out ice cream with the check, now you have to ask for it. I think the fact that it's not very sanitary sealed the deal for me, there are plenty of places in the area that are much cleaner. What a great way to bring in the New Year! Over a nice Hot Pot! I decided to play it safe and went with chicken broth, which I ended up regretting becaus it was quite bland. We selected our meats including marinated pork, thinly sliced chicken, thinly sliced beef, shrimp, white fish, chicken dumpling, kimchi dumpling, nappa cabbage, carrots, bok choy, white radish, mushroom, and egg, and ramen. They have a condiments bar so I gathered my scallions, cilantro, garlic, and sauces like oyster sauce, hoisin, chili oil, sesame, garlic soy sauce, etc to add to the bland tasting chicken broth, and we were on our way! Everything was fresh and delicious. It's such a cool experience because you can make everything exactly to your taste buds. The atmosphere is quite casual. I saw groups of 4-6 people, a few people eating solo and groups of 2. They do a good job of bringing things out, but don't really check back on you yo see if everything is ok. Very casual. When I asked about some of the other broths, they were not able to explain them very well and you can't sample the broths either. I guess I will experiment and try another broth next time. How is this place 4 stars? We should've turned around when we saw the place was almost empty, but figured we'd give it a shot. The first red flag was no rice. What Asian restaurant doesn't serve rice?! It didn't get much better once the food arrived. We got the tonkotsu and the tom yum broths -- both were extremely bland, no hint of richness from pork or coconut milk. I have never had to season broth at hotpot before, but I added salt, soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions from the sauce bar to give it some taste. The sauce bar was dirty and sticky, even had gnats. The food was very bland. We got pork, brisket, and lamb...and they all tasted the same. The seafood wasn't worth eating. The service was lacking. We had to keep calling our server over because he didn't check on us, hanging out at the cashier the whole time. He also gave us a look when we came in like he didn't want us to be there. First time at a HoT Pot! I didn't regret it. My husband and I had something to celebrate so we decided to go to this highly rated it place on here. We went with chicken broth for base soup, 4 types of veggies including tofu and 3 types of meat. We weren't sure how to make the sauce, so one of hostess made it for us!!! So sweet and helpful our dishes came out so delicious I want to go back again before winter is over. Ambience is cozy and with holiday decorations. Everything was kept clean and organized. I think is family owned/run. We went around lunch time on the weekend was able to find parking and seats easily. This place is usually very packed. My soup base [I ordered the Tom Yum] was extremely bland which forced me to add extra sauces and seasonings to make it at least a bit appetizing. The menu options are now very limited and the meat quality has also changed drastically throughout time. There was only one server working the time I visited so it was somewhat difficult to flag them down when my table needed to order more or needed our water refilled. The only good thing that stood out to me was the speed of service provided by the workers prepping the add-ons. All the items I ordered came out fairly quickly. As the place is owned by Koreans, they were playing both mainstream pop and K-pop music, but with very raunchy lyrics - many songs that kept repeating the F word, p***y, etc. When we asked our server, Judy, if this is the norm, she said they are pretty much uninhibited with their music selections when there are adults with no minors/kids around. We went the first week of Feb but they had cute valentines decor everywhere and because we got there a bit early at 6:30 we got to pick our seating. As for the table set up, you have your own individual hotpots and you can pick your own type of broth (when you get refills of your broth It will only be the shabu shabu). I got the spicy broth which I thought was great for a rainy day and the refill didn't decrease the spice or flavor. They have a sauce station with housemade sauces, but they also have sesame sauce, cilantro, green onion, garlic, jalapeños, fish sauce, salt and more for some DIY sauce options. Since its AYCE we ordered pretty widely over the menu- I liked the pork, chicken, octopus, egg and jumbo shrimp (they're shell on so it's a bit annoying to have to peel yourself). The Napa cabbage, tofu, rice cakes, glass noodles and mushrooms were also great! I think per person It came to be 46$ after the automatic 20% gratuity for parties of 6 which is a fantastic deal. I will definitely be back here. We went the day after New Years Day and it wasn't too busy. We got sat at a table that seats four but since there weren't a lot of customers, we had the table to ourselves. The staff explained how the process goes and took the order. It's all you can eat so you don't have to order everything the first time. You order you broth first and then choose meats and sides and veggies. Since we are vegetarian, we order almost all the veggies. There are A LOT of options for everyone. I'm just not sure if many of the items are exclusively vegan though. Other staff brought out the broth pots and we started the heating elements. While the broth came to a boil, we went over to the sauce and dipping station and made out sauces to dip the hot pot items in before consuming. When we got back to the table, we put in all the veggies and sides and threw back several shots of alcohol while we waited. The staff here are VERY attentive. You just look at them of wave and they come over to help you. We asked for a few more items like udon noodles and ramen and eggs to add to our pots and within seconds the items came out. Now all the food was super fresh and tasted amazing. I think I will try another broth next time because the standard mala spicy broth just wasn't hittin'. It wasn't spicy enough for me. We joined the waitlist estimating a time of 16-32 minutes, but we're seated very quickly as only a couple tables were taken. The bar area has fun seasonal decor and there is a dark ambience with upbeat music playing. The quality of the meats were very good, and the veggies were fresh. The broth/soup was flavorful. It was quieter when we came, but things picked up towards 7:30-8pm. The lower stars are for our water which had sediment in it (you could feel it in your mouth actually) and service. We didn't really know exactly who was our server, many times were overlooked or forgotten, and even trying to pay and waiting for the check took 15-20 minutes. The service was good. Waiter was helpful and brought items right away. I was disappointed they didn't have a couple of the items I wanted. All food I had was fresh and good. Although the broth, meats, veggies, and sauces were still good, the environment (loud music and little flies everywhere) was bad. Firstly the music was so loud you could barely have a conversation with the person next to you. I don't remember if it's always been like this but the loud club music was distracting and annoying. Also there were a bunch of tiny flies flying around my food and it was annoying trying to swat them away for the whole meal. The flies landed on my food several times :( The restaurant was also out of several of the ingredients (vegetables and non meat add ins). Maybe they order less in the summer? No one ever came to even check on our water, and although one table got a pitcher, we didn't. The chicken breast slices and scallops were frozen. Only 6 meat choices (2 beef, chicken, lamb, regular pork and marinated pork). They were missing vegetables but never told us they just didn't bring them out. Sauce station was weak... we were there late on a Thursday night... maybe they were just done refilling it for the night but they were barely labeled and there was barely anything in there.
