Update: Since our first trip to Gia's we've been back several times. The food quality has gotten a lot better since they first opened. I definitely recommend this hometown pizza joint. We eat there about once a month or every other month. Original: Gia's is somewhere between a hometown pizza joint and a hipster place. Overall it was pretty average. The food was ok. I had a supreme pizza. Some of the ingredients, like the green peppers, were huge. I they'd been chopped a little more. My wife ordered the cheese bread. It was basically a cheese pizza with no sauce. We were expecting a little more garlic flavor. We had ranch to dip it in -- it was from a bottle. Despite ordering a couple small thin crust pizzas, it took about 30-45 min to get our food. Pretty long considering the place wasn't horribly busy. The service was good though. Overall, it was average. Not a place we'll be counting the days to go to ag

I moved away from the Southern Illinois area several years ago, but when I lived there Gia's was one of my favorite pizza restaurants, due to the freshness of the vegetables on the pizza, the great thin crust and the generous amount of toppings placed on the pizza. I was in town for a short visit, so I decided to order Gia's due to the high quality of their pizza. Their pizza has always been a little pricey, but in my opinion the quality matched the price. Unfortunately, this was my first visit in over a year and the pizza did not have the same quality I experienced in the past. The pizza I ordered had a large amount of toppings but the pizza was a bit overcooked. I was disappointed that the pizza was overcooked but the pizza still have good flavor. It was not the quality I expected but I would still order Gia's, their pizza is still a cut above the rest.

Salad with 2 half full cups of dressing and the 2 extra i bought. Sad

But the best thing is that it's on the same street that I live on :) I'm not crazy about sweeter pizza sauce so I get their jalapeño sauce and it is amazing.....
