To their credit, the hostess and staff prove to be generally pleasant and helpful, but this joint's underwhelming food offerings rate as passable at best and mediocre at worst: and we've tried all their entrees except the bangers and mashers. But BEWARE of that ridiculously atrocious Coffee and Donuts travesty in their inexcusably MIS-leading dessert menu! A handful of very SMALL sugar-coated doughy rings together with what at first glance looks like a miniature plastic coffee cup that turns out to be chocolate, supposedly, and partially filled with some nasty, bitter-tasting goup that's presumably the coffee. If you're expecting anything even remotely resembling Dunkin' or Krispy Kream donuts, much less a decent tasting cup of coffee, you're in for an incredibly RUDE disappointment. We can anticipate their lame excuse here and now: it's IRISH, not American coffee and donuts. Well, it sure as HECK is most definitely NOT! Okay, fine: just forget being Irish-centric, expecting everybody else on the planet to be privy to your bogus Coffee and Donuts, and print some cautionary and honest DISCLAIMER in some fine print beneath that ludicrous, extremely DIS-tasteful item to give unsuspecting customers some FAIR WARNING! This is a cool place with a ton of potential. Great location and appealing atmosphere. Love the decor and set up in the piano room. A couple friends and I came for the dueling piano on a Friday night. Be sure to make a reservation online and note that a deposit is required for Fridays and Saturdays. 20% gratuity is included in the bill and the deposit is applied to your final bill as well. There's a small area near the bar for people without a reservation to stand. The pianists were fun and played a decent variety, but it also depends on the requests from the crowd. Love having dueling pianos in the area though! All the staff members we interacted with were very friendly and pleasant. Where the stars fall is with the food. Some of it was decent, some was a bit lacking in flavor. I had the Shepherd's Pie and felt that it was missing seasoning on the meat. Our table also shared Brussels sprouts which we felt were also lacking in flavor. However, feedback was decent for the Reuben sandwich, fries, and Irish stew. The coffee and donuts dessert had great flavor, we just hoped for the donuts to be soft/fluffy. They had more of a dense texture than expected. I did come back a second time to try the brunch and we had a lovely time but again the food had a couple misses. According to the menu the Bloody Mary should have come with shrimp but did not. I also requested sausage for my classic breakfast but was informed that they didn't have any. I opted for bacon, which was a little floppy for my liking. I love a good fish and chip and my standards are pretty low. I'm talking Safeway frozen aisle low, I just want a crispy battered piece of fish and some crispy chips. Fish was soggy and chips undercooked. I came here with my friend mainly to watch the Knicks game. Unless you're seated at the bar or the tables all the way inside where the large monitor is, you'll have to play a game of twister to get the right view. Service was--well incomplete, server was new, can't judge her but seemed nice, but kept going around filling up water instead of asking if we needed a refill for our 10 minute empty glass of Diet Pepsi. The place has potential and my friend comes here a lot more than I do, always giving it a good review but suggested a possible off day in the kitchen. Awesome spot for a night out on a Saturday. Our dinner reservation was at 8pm. To book a table in the piano room, it was $50 per person, which ends up being credited toward food & drinks on the night of, non-refundable and cannot be used for the tip (20% gratuity applied to all bills for the piano dueling experience). It looked like visitors could come for the dueling piano show without a reservation and stand at the bar, but there was very limited space and it got crowded there quickly. There's also a second bar in the main dining room as well as outdoor seating at the venue. It was super loud in the piano room at dinner time, with chatter echoing throughout and multiple large screen TV's playing sports. But with a good sound system and speaker setup, the room would be filled with live music later that night, no problem. The staff took care of us during our visit. Melissa was our waitress, and she checked on our party of two regularly. I appreciate the effort. She started us off with cocktails. My bf enjoyed the banshee's maid. I tried the elder sunset (with grey goose upgrade) and purple heather, both of which were tasty, but I preferred the former. For dinner, we ordered the irish boxty appetizer, fish n chips, and shepherd's pie. All of our items were delish! The croquettes were so yummy and cooked perfectly with a nice consistency of mashed potatoes and a hint of cheddar. The shepherd's pie was filled with lots of juicy ground beef mixed with peas and carrots. And the fish & chips dish was quite satisfying, with three pieces of delicate flaky fish in a light and crisp batter and potato wedges (not fries) which was better than expected. The dueling piano show started around 9:15pm, presented by West Coast Dueling Pianos. Three hours of live entertainment by Travis and Dave, great musicians able to play a nice range of songs requested by guests. Dave was especially talented as we watched him do his thing on the keyboard, with our table directly behind him. My musician bf says he's probably a jazz player based on his technique and the impressive sound he creates. Some of the tunes performed by the duo on stage included Wonderwall, California Love, Livin' on a Prayer, Hotel California, Mr. Brightside by The Killers, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by the great Whitney Houston, and a mashup of Usher's Nice & Slow and Golden from Kpop Demon Hunters. I've been to better dueling piano shows, but that's cuz I've been to a lot, both inside and outside of California. And here, they strictly play the requests with highest tips first, which ranged from $20-30 for the first half of the event, unlike other spots that mix it up if the variety of music is not appealing to the different audience tastes (i.e. three rap songs in a row... really?!?). But all in all, this was still a great spot for delicious Irish fare, lively sports viewing, and an engaging performance of live music. read more

We went to Gibson's Irish pub mainly because we wanted to play trivia on Tuesday. It was the first night that they had had Trivia. Trivia was amazing. The venue is really beautiful, but the problem is you have to buy dinner and it was so expensive. I got fish tacos and pretzels to share at the table and it came to $42 with Tip and I just can't afford to spend $42 each week to play Trivia so I won't do that. The food was just OK nothing special. The service was just OK. I do want to add though that there was maybe it was a manager going around making sure everybody was happy and enjoying Trivia so he was really great, but my waiter was just OK. The other thing was there's such a difference between watching Trivia here and where we usually go, which is Morgan territory. I felt like it was constantly having the quizmaster giving advertisements for Gibsons Irish pub I don't know it was just kind of odd. Maybe you don't have to buy dinner every time you go to play Trivia but it's sort of felt like it was expected. I won't go back, but I do wish them luck. read more

Came for an 8 pm dinner on Friday night and confirmed we would be able to stay at the table for Dueling Pianos. We were not charged a deposit. Our server seemed very tentative and new to the profession. Did not bring a cold glass with a can of beer, did not bring bar napkins to keep the moisture off the very small table. No salt and pepper brought with the meal. All easily resolved, but seem like things that should be standard with service. Ordered the Pretzel Bites with Cheese Sauce for an appetizer .. nothing special. Entrees were Cobb Salad and Irish Stew. Salad was huge and great, and stew was enjoyed. Even before the music, the noise level in the "dining room" was extremely high. Once the music started .. yow!! The piano guys were great, though we didn't know a lot of the requested songs. The constant reminders for prepaid tips as the one sure way to get your requests played were tedious. Speaking of tips .. an automatic 20% tip is added to the check. And when the final receipt comes to be signed, they have a tip line .. I guess hoping you won't notice you have already been dinged for 20%, earned or not. The atmosphere is very comfortable here. The service is excellent and I will definitely be back to enjoy it. I had a Guinness that was properly served and it was excellent as expected. I also ordered the Irish stew and found it somewhat wanting. It was lacking in flavor and didn't have the depth I normally associate with stew like this. It wasn't bat just not great. My wife had the fish and chips which was definitely above average. The fish was not over cooked, the batter was excellent and the sauce was good. The slaw was just as good and really fresh. I'm genuinely disappointed by the experience and the apparent misrepresentation of a menu staple. Charging for what was described as "corned beef hash," yet serving sliced deli corned beef over deep-fried potato chunks, felt misleading at best. I initially attempted to address this privately by reaching out to management, but unfortunately received no response. We visited for breakfast on a quiet Sunday, as the only patrons, and ordered what we expected to be a traditional corned beef hash--especially given the Yelp photos and menu description referencing roasted potatoes. Instead, the dish was overly salty yet somehow lacking in depth of flavor. While our waitress was kind and attentive, she was new and understandably unable to resolve the concern. A more senior cook--though not a chef--insisted that what we were served was indeed their version of the hash. Came here to watch the USA World Cup match and was excited for the atmosphere, but the experience was hard to enjoy. The pub was absolutely sweltering the entire game--easily felt close to 90 degrees inside--and despite multiple people commenting on it, the air conditioning never seemed to come on. The crowd and game were great, but spending two hours sweating through a World Cup match made it pretty miserable. An Irish pub showing a major futbol event should make sure guests are comfortable, especially when it's packed. Disappointing experience overall. Both the kids were out at birthday parties at their friends' places, so I had part of the afternoon free one weekend, and spent part of it at Gibson's Irish Pub. Had a late lunch, so the place was mostly empty. The space is gorgeous - some screens, a lot of decor, fancy bar area, and plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors. I had their Purple Heather to start, a nice and pretty gin based drink. They didn't skimp on the gin here, yay! I tried their Irish Boxty, an appetizer of stuffed potato, and it came out different than what I had imagined. It was more of potato croquette balls, which was pretty good, but I expected more flavors based on the description. For entrees, I tried their coastal mussels and their Irish stew. Both were made pretty great. The coastal mussels had a nice rich creamy bisque-like feeling to it and the flavors were really good. There is a slight kick to it which made it even better for me as I love some spice. They do put chorizo in this dish though, which may not be appealing to some people, but the flavors were great. It also came with a couple slices of toast, used to scoop up the extra thick broths. The Irish stew was a nice mix of potatoes, carrots, meat, etc. The potatoes really was great to really get all the stuff together into a bite. I'd definitely come back here to try more of their menu and more drinks, though it'd be another pricy time here at Gibson's! read more

We had a great time celebrating my bday with a group of 8 on a Saturday night. We made a reservation in advance on Open Table to have a table reserved in the piano room. Highly recommend this, and the minimum $250 charge for food and drinks was super easy to meet. (Click on the Experiences tab to get the piano room reservation). We more than doubled that amount. Our table/booth was super close to the pianos and they called out all the birthday folks. The pianos are supposed to start at 9pm but I think it actually started at 9:15. We had a great time and basically closed the place down. Our server was very busy but did a nice job paying attention to our group. The owner came by a couple of times too. The way we were informed about this wasn't - it was dismissive and rude. The hostess had a stank face on and seemed irritated and was unaccommodating. Didn't offer the dining area upon informing us the bar was full - just stood there looking irritated. We had to ask what the deal was. Told us we can go sit outside with no TV lol. We visited on Memorial Day for lunch. It was oddly quiet, and we were only the second table with customers. The decor resembled an Irish pub. I say resembled as it felt like the decor was ordered from restaurant catalog. It was clean, nice, and new, but not authentic. The bar might have been the original all bar from the original place. If that's the case they should talk about it. It is owned by a restaurant group that creates different concepts. It shows. They need to hire people who have depth in Irish pubs. The beer selection was limited and had a very weak set of Irish, or for that matter British, beers. I don't understand this at all. The Irish whisky selection was also limited. They had Redbreast 12 (good) but no Yellow or Green Spot. And I don't think there was a range of Jameson one would expect to see. Perhaps the closed-off bar area had a broader selection. Food was a mix of Irish (bangers and mash) and American (smash burger). Food was okay, but very expensive for the quality and quantity. It's in a great location. I'm confident they will work out the kinks. For now, three stars. We will definitely try it again, though, as it should be very successful. read more

Was going barhopping on a Friday night around 9 o'clock for a birthday, this was my favorite bar out of the strip. They didn't seem to have much of a dancing scene or dance floor, but they did have really fun, live music and a big screen that live streamed it in a separate room. This allowed people in the room with the bar to still be able to enjoy the live music from afar, without needing a seat or standing and staring in the room. The bartenders were super attentive and I never waited too long when asking for water or drink. We were sat down at a large seating table, and they checked in with us if we wanted food, drinks, and let us know when it was last call for food. The energy in the bar is great and it seemed super positive, seem to have a good balance of people in their mid 20s to mid 30s. Great service, great vibes and really big venue! read more

My friends and I went to Gibson Irish Piano Bar for the dual pianos, and what an amazing experience! I didn't have a reservation, but luckily they were able to find a table for us to celebrate my birthday. The show was above our expectations -- the piano guys were incredible, playing and singing so many different songs. The whole place was singing, clapping, and dancing along! The drinks were great, and we shared truffle fries and fish and chips and both delicious. Even though it was really busy, our server did a good job. Growing up in Walnut Creek, I WISH this place had been here when I lived here! Awesome atmosphere, they had a great vibe walking in with some irish music playing (followed by some classic rock, they mix it up) matching the ambiance of an Irish Pub. As I walked, Xiao greeted and welcomed warmly and Derrick, the bartender was incredible (as well as a local)! As I sat down, he informed me immediately that it was happy hour as he proceeded to recommended some great beers to try! I settled with the East Brothers Pilsner and it was delicious. Derricks demeanor was profession, kind, informative and humourous. The kind of experience i was looking for. This is my second visit here and my first i enjoyed their Guinness Irish Stew. From service to flavor everything ran flat. It took 10 minutes to get our first drink and the second round was completely forgotten about. After waiting patiently for 13 minutes, I went up to the bar to confirm the order but learned the bartender did not recieve it. The bartender was helpful and made the drink quickly on the fly, much appreciated! We ordered 2 appetizers. The first was the Irish potato and cheese boxty with horseradish dip. The second was the ribs. Both dishes suffered from lack of seasoning. Once salt was added to the plates, it was much improved. The ribs were also dry and again, had no seasoning. The sauce needed salt as well to bring out the flavor. From bland food to poor service, this newbe has a lot to work on. read more

Such a cute place that I've been wanting to try. The host asked us if we had a preference and I chose the high top. I honestly thought it would just be drinks and "bar food" but it is basically a whole restaurant. The choices looked great and would love to come another time to actually eat. We sat for a pretty long time and this worker came up to us, shocked that we have not been helped. It wasn't busy so we were also a bit confused but maybe the hosts didn't notify the servers. After, it was smooth sailing. The truffle fries were crispy with a ton of cheese. Honestly, a pretty big portion for an app! I loved the drinks, it was super refreshing and I loved how spacious the place was. The server, after, constantly checked in on us. Went here tonight for the first time for dinner with buddies. Great decor and the staff is incredibly attentive, quick on the refills, and checking in. Decided to go with the Gibson's smash burger for my entree. As much as I was hoping it would hit, it just fell flat. Traditionally smash patties are thin and wide. The patties on this were different sizes and different thicknesses, as well as not being proportional to the bun. Was looking forward to the maple onion bacon jam but it seemed to just be bacon crumbles. Flavor was decent but just didn't come together. Truffle fries were delicious though. Service at the bar on a random lunch Tuesday was great! Ambiance is definitely on point. Comfy seating at the bar! Food- menu is seemingly traditional British/ Irish fare! Definitely want to go back and try the boxty and the bangers and mash! I'm a huge burger nerd, so I opted for the smash burger. taste 5/5 , look 4/5, I wish they had gone with an Irish cheddar cheese instead of "American" and the two patties were barely "smashed" as I was hoping for that crust of melty cheese around the burger. Fries are skinny and served with ketchup, if I could've switched to the seasoned potato wedges I think that would've been a better fit! Not much Irish whiskey available currently, perhaps that'll change in the future. Perhaps even a few more Scotches too. It definitely has potential, will be going back! read more

Gibson's Irish Pub takes the place of the historical Crogans, with a focus on craft cocktails and Irish eats. I started our evening with a perfectly mixed Purple Heather (Empress Gin) and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was a tad disappointed they didn't use Dingle Gin (local to Ireland), which I developed a taste for when we were in Dublin last Summer, but it was still delicious and definitely hit the spot. Food wise the honey and I shared a Fish and Chips in addition to the Guinness Irish Stew and I have to say, Gibson's fish was 100 times better than the Fish and Chips we had in London. Light, fluffy, and tender it was seasoned and battered perfectly! In my opinion the Irish stew was a bit heavy on the tomato/bean flavor until it was mixed into the mashed potatoes. I enjoyed it, but the Guinness didn't really shine through. Our starter, the Irish egg rolls (corned beef and cabbage), were tasty but a bit odd. I see the reasoning behind them (easy finger food), but I think sliders would have been more successful. All in all, the service was incredibly friendly and prompt and the seating plentiful. They say that an Irish 7-course meal is a 6-pack and a potato. I suppose you could swing that choice at Gibson's Irish Pub, but their menu does offer quite a bit more. My choice of a half-Reuben, fries, and a wee pint of Guinness was maybe not the healthiest choice, but it was certainly delicious and more than enough food for the evening. Our friends who split a pastrami sandwich felt the same way. On the other hand, Gayle's healthier "pub salad" was unremarkable. Gibson's is in the building the once housed Crogan's which had quite a late night bar reputation that largely put them out of business (as I recall). This time around, the place was certainly hopping, but perhaps with a more sedate and still loud (in spots) crowd. The bright right side of Gibson's was louder, with the left side, being more of a darker sedate dining room that facilitated better conversation and comfort. However, the dueling pianos take over on the weekends at 8 PM, which for us meant clearing out at our leisure with 15 minutes to spare. The only quibble for me that as Gibson's is also a sports bar, it's almost impossible to dine here without a TV being in close visual range. We did enjoy the energy and the friendly neighborhood vibe, even for us older folks. We also appreciated that restaurant manager checking in and providing relative food and ambiance perspectives. read more

Happy hour all day on Sunday starting at 7am for EPL matches and running all the way through NFL football? For sure you could do worse elsewhere. Staff is great, always willing to accommodate requests to make their guests feel welcomed. Glad that a business is doing well in the space after the building sat empty for years.
