I've been coming to Rotator for years, and it's still my favorite local spot in Walnut Creek. The addition of wine is such a great bonus! I love meeting friends here, but it's also one of the few places I genuinely enjoy going by myself because I always end up running into someone I know or meeting someone new while sitting at the big bar. The staff always makes me feel safe and welcome, too. They're always hosting fun events, it's a great place to watch sports, and I love that I can bring my dog along. I know some people are disappointed that Rotator is now required to be 21+ with the addition of wine, something many customers had been been asking for over the years. The owners are parents themselves, so I imagine this wasn't a decision they made lightly. Families with younger kids still have several great brewery options nearby. If you're looking for great beer, wine, friendly people, and a welcoming neighborhood hangout, it's hard to beat. read more

We went in just now & I am so sad to see that they are no longer family friendly! I was surprised that they were dead on a Sunday, especially Father's Day but as soon as we walked in we were told we couldn't enter with our kids because they sell wine now! They were always one of our favorite taprooms & they were always great to our kids! I always loved how there was a bunch of families just having a kid time. We went here for a quick suds amongst errands. I had not been here for awhile but it was a low key afternoon. I had noticed a new chicken.vending machine in the brewery. It is an automated machine they makes you fried chicken nuggets in the spot. For a small fee we had a small little cup nuggets. We had a couple beers and also ordered a Burger from the pound 4 pound food truck on site. I ordered a Rice Lager and a Pilsner for the suds and enjoyed the quaint cozy ambiance of the small taproom. This is one of my all-time favorite tap rooms. It is in the heart of Walnut Creek off of Broadway. Parking is plentiful, but you will almost certainly need to pay for the street parking. On rare occasions, I get one of the free spots near the entrance. But don't count on it. I have had countless wonderful conversations with the patrons who come here. Plus, the bartenders are always cheerful and helpful. Naturally, there's a good selection of beer, and the bartender is helpful in helping you make a selection. This used to be the best tap room anywhere in the East Bay that we frequented weekly until they decided to no longer be family friendly to sell wine. I can't imagine the demand for wine is worth cutting out a huge population of customers who go to a TAPROOM for BEER and bring babies, well behaved kids, etc. Terrible Business decision if you ask me. We were really bummed to find out this is no longer a family-friendly place. We've come here many times with our baby and always loved the atmosphere. One of the things that made it stand out was seeing families hanging out together and feeling welcome. When we showed up, we were told kids aren't allowed anymore because they now serve wine. We completely understand businesses can change, but this was a surprise and unfortunately means we won't be coming back. It's disappointing to lose one of our favorite local spots, and we'll have to find somewhere else that's still welcoming to families. read more

My adult sons and I stopped here. I ordered the apple seltzer it was really good. My son ordered at counter and got our drinks and snack. Then we headed upstairs to hang out. They have large seating with couches and a restroom upstairs and downstairs. Very chill place. We were okay until we stepped on dog poop upstairs. There were a few ppl upstairs with dogs. We love pets, however customers need to be responsible for their pets. Or place may need to check often for clean ups. We didn't expect this to happen floor is wooden brown that it blended. Loved this place but hate the fact that I don't live nearby and can't make this a regular thing! Guess I need to move back to WC! Set in a former body shop ( might have been a Mikes back in my Enterprise days in the Creek) it has a cool industrial vibe and a mixed crowd of families, groups and dogs which I loved! I love the events and rotation of food trucks they offer here! We love going here for trivia on Wednesday nights! I don't drink beer but there seem to be good options here for those that do. I usually go with a cider or ginger beer when I hang out here. Lots of seating, including a second floor. Space is clean and bartenders are friendly. Great place for hanging out, and dog friendly! Great beer bar in the vein of Hop Grenade, great selection and well designed bar. We love these types of places because we always find some beer we've never had and have it for the first time, then buy it later so a lot of these breweries are totally making money long after the people leave this place. Fast forward, we adopted the sweetest little senior chihuahua and named her Amanda Marie. She's adjusted beautifully and our chihuahua Kobe that we rescued 7 years ago is being the best big brother. Nice place to grab a beer! They have beers from local breweries and special features that rotate. Got some darks, hazy beers, smoothie-style, cider and seltzers. On Untapped if you like to check in your beers Plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Parking lot is small. We had to pay for street meter parking which is $1/hour. Also had popcorn for $5 with interesting flavors like Spirulina and nutritional yeast. Dog friendly with a patio area. We also ordered pizza from Pinky's Pizza which is around the corner. They will walk over and deliver your pizza to you. There's no signs posted telling you how to do this but reading other yelpers reviews I knew to go online and call and order. Took about 30-35 minutes on a busy Saturday night for the pizza to come. Also watched the Warriors game here; they have a lot of large TV screens and bartenders are very gracious and friendly! Great little spot to grab a local beer or two... or three. ;) I've been meaning to check this spot out since pre-COVID, but of course, plans changed. Finally got around to it on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and I'll definitely be returning. Nice open space with tables inside and out. TVs were showing both A's and Giants games (which my bf and I appreciate as divided fans haha). Only a few parking spaces in their lot, but lots of street parking. Beer selection is vast -- both on tap and canned! I appreciate the mix of the "tried and true," like Russian River and Henhouse and ones farther north that I'd never tried before. The fridge selection was even more extensive, so of course we had to snag some cans for later. As for food, I know you can order pizza nearby to get delivered, but it's not clear how to go about that. No signage on tables or mention anywhere online that I could find, so maybe ask staff if you're interested. read more

Joined for 3rd Thursdays trivia night, lucky for us (or my husband) it was it was star wars themed. The drinks were great (I got the Monterey Mule, so light and refreshing in the 90 degree heat) and the trivia was a blast! My friend and I both brought our small puppies and the while trying to find a table out of the way and out of the heat we bumped into one of the partners who noticed our struggle and moved a table and brought in chairs for us. His act of kindness was so appreciated. Our puppies got to people watch and we got to enjoy the drinks and trivia. I am so thrilled to write a five star deserving review. I usually go to breweries, a tap room is different than a brewery, they have beers on tap and do not brew beer. But...OMG, this spot has so many beers on tap! Representing northern CA and more. Food trucks are not available, but...You can order from a local pizza spot that will deliver. When you are drinking beer it is important to eat food. Back to the beer,so many choices from many amazing NoCal breweries, from Alvarado street to Reno Nevada, and even San Diego. WOW! Also, you could mix and match the four packs to go. The game room was clean, and free!!!! OF course, with any beer spot, I recommend taking an Uber or Lyftt here, or having a DD. Stopped by last night at the Rotator Taproom. I did not even know this place existed until last night. I was there for work to guide a women's social group. The organizers of the group set up the meeting location so I did not know the venue. I checked my group in the bar with a gentleman who was very nice and super helpful! Our group had the back room in the downstairs area reserved for our party. I liked how it was a private space away from the crowd separated by a partitioned curtain, but I would suggest that they put up an actual door to the private room because we could hear all of the voices from the bar carrying into the room we were in so it was really loud and very difficult to have conversations. As far as the beverage options went I am not an alcohol drinker so I can only speak on behalf of the nonalcoholic drinks. I initially went to the bar to request a nonalcoholic drink but I was informed the nonalcoholic drinks were located in a refrigerator. I was a bit disappointed that the only nonalcoholic drinks were in cans in a refrigerator. As a person who is not a drinker, it's always nice to have options from a bar. The ladies who ordered alcoholic drinks all seemed to enjoy their drinks. Parking at the venue was very limited so patrons had to walk from the street. Overall, I'd say my experience of the Rotator Taproom was good. I am not necessarily a bar type of person, but in my opinion, if I were I'd say the Rotator Taproom was a lively place to hang out and drink. read more

Rotator Taproom is just that-a bare-bones taproom, but there's nothing wrong with that. It's in Walnut Creek on a quiet street (at least on Sunday) a block or so from Ignacio Valley Blvd. Street parking was easy, but not free, even on Sunday. The atmosphere was casual. Go to the bar and order a beer. Taste one if you if have to. Service was engaging and attentive. Crowd was friendly, especially while the 49ers were crushing the Jags. The beer selection was varied, with many local breweries represented. Rotator had no food for sale, and there was no food truck, but patrons were welcome to bring in outside food. Super spacious brewery with an awesome vibe! I came here for Family Feud night and it was really fun. Rotator Taproom does a lot of events such as beer yoga, comedy shows, and live music with food trucks. You can check their website for an updated list of events, which are still happening during COVID. I loved the DIPA and the vantage point I had from the second floor. The brewery itself doesn't sell food but you can call or order online from Pinky's, which is right around the corner. Pinky's Pizza was amazing, especially paired with good beer, and it only took half an hour to deliver directly to our table. They somehow find exactly where you're sitting in the pub despite the crowd! I'll definitely be back with my friends for more fun and beer! read more

I'm sure you can find something of your liking with 21 beers on tap. As for them hosting comedy here is terrible. You can't hear or make out what someone was saying in the mic. All you can hear is everyone talking. Maybe better sound system or try to quiet the bar a little before they start. We left due to this. This little tap room has great vibes and was fun to try out. Big fan of Rotator. They're easy to pop into if you're getting your tires done down the street, but also great to make an evening of. Their beer prices are reasonable, their selection is great, and their staff is always really friendly. We've been a few times for trivia/family feud as well, and had a blast. Great place for beers - this is kind of the Hop Grenade for Walnut Creek. Always have a great selection of beers and good stuff in the fridge to buy and take home. Good friends of mine I play softball with and against come here regularly. Only thing I hate about this place is the parking, it sucks. Metered and not a lot of places to park - but outside that this is one of the best beer bars in the East Bay, right up there with Hop Grenade.
