Great dive in the middle of all the pretty people in The Dub C. I don't know how they do it in a high rent area but they pour stiff and keep their prices divey. What we loved about her was when my friend ordered a skinny margarita the bartender asked how skinny do you want it? Which I thought was such a great question. I didn't asked for a screwdriver and she said she didn't want me to have the orange juice, because it wasn't very good. Bartender was extremely rude and we felt as if he was being prejudiced and racist towards us. He said his name was Jim, but unsure if that was even true. He gave us a total after one drink each. Granted he was clocking out of work and they were changing bartenders, but he could've explained that instead of totaling us out with zero explanation. He was not friendly nor was he approachable. He treated us as if we were not welcome being people of color. The drinks were not good and made incorrectly. He made them with absolutely no care. We will not be going back. His message to us was very clear. Update: This message is to the owner. You have no idea the prejudice and racism we felt as customers in your establishment. My partner got harassed there . They stated we should have asked for help at the moment while she was in shock and crying . How can you trust anyone while you're drinking and no one can take control of their customers harassing other females or males . The manager stated that he was harassed and the cops suspended his claim yet why are you going to tell my partner that whole she's in shock and dealing with the situation. He stated it was double standard yet if a female gets raped what happens and I only said that because again he stated it was double standard. He was trying to excuse his comment. Visited here a couple of weeks ago with my good buddies for lunch. Mr. Lucky's has that very divey bar feel, but the staff is friendly, and the food is pretty good. My fries were cooked crisp, and although my BLTA sandwich bread was cooked a little longer than my liking, the internal sandwich ingredients were fresh, and the overall build of the sandwich was also pretty good! I am not sure who gave them 3 stars, but the owner Thomas is the absolute sweetest and nicest freakin bartender I have ever met, as a matter of fact his whole staff is nice. They make amazing good strong drinks and they are reasonable. You can order some French fries that come fresh and hot, and a very large portion. You can sit outside in the front or you can sit in the back. It's a nice ambience, they check on you more than a waitress, they are really nice. I absolutely love the Rum Punch slushee, it's perfect for the hot weather, and they top of your drink with some extra rum. Thomas also makes some great tasting Martini's. OWNER PLEASE READ: Unacceptable employee behavior Someone left their phone unattended at the bar, and a member of our group tried to alert the bar tender of this. This prompted the owner of the phone, who was sitting a few seats down, to verbally accost HER. Seeing a grown man scream in a girls face, another person from the group stepped inbetween to ask the man to calm down, to which the man responded with a threat, "do you wanna get dropped?" The response was, "No, i wanna get a drink". The aggressor then calls over the bartender and commands he kicks our group of 4 out, to which the bartender immediately listens. We find out later this is because the aggressor is a "regular" who "spends a lot". Once the security comes over he immediately becomes physical, and grabs the individual who was trying to stick up for the female. Shoves him, grabs him again and pushes him out the door, with zero resistance from the other party. Once outside, I let him know there's one more in the party still inside and ask if i can go get her. His response is to escalate again, put his hand on my chest push me back and claim I am "blocking the doorway". He repeatedly makes us listen to his commands of back up, even though we were far enough, until he lets me reenter to retrieve the last friend. Once I enter there is now the girlfriend of the aggressor in the face threating to punch my friend. The bartenders response to the was to tell my friend who's now being verbally accosted, to "get the fuck out, and kick fucking rocks". So now the bartender has screamed at a young female as well. We leave and end the night there. Walnut Creek is a beautiful town, and the small business should uphold that pride and hold themselves to a standard. As a business owner, you should not be okay with your employees physically and verbally abusing customers (some who are female), who have done nothing wrong. All of this because a "regular" spends a lot of money? This is a disgrace. To answer the question, were we drunk and rowdy, causing problems just to turn around and complain? No, we just came from dinner, we each had 1 drink, and were, for all intents and purposes, sober. If you're the owner, please feel free to reach out to me. I am on occasional bar drinker, perhaps 2-3 times per year. This review is about their food. My dad, has come here since inception, and before Walt took ownership. ***THIS IS NOT BAR FOOD****** I was truly amazed by the quality and selection of food items. My brother is a bit picky and does not like bars in general, I convinced him to try it out, because it's my dad's preferred hangout. My brother tried the chicken sandwich and he said it was on of the best he's had, moist, lots of "stuff" in it. He now prefers the sandwich here more than other haunts. We also had the tamales, sooo good, moist masa, flavorful filling of spiced chicken. Fries are cooked to perfection, crispy outside, creamy inside.
