Around 5 years ago this company replaced my living room window & a few other windows at a premium price. First the plastic strip fell off, then while cleaning the blinds I saw dirt (not dust) on the sill & all over the back of my blinds & on the carpet underneath the window where my Christmas tree is. Turns out the glass pane had separated from it's frame & was leaning inward ready to fall out! This was a safety hazard, 2 toddlers playing right in front of this window! I am not even going to bother calling this company, the only reason I used them is because this company installed all the windows when my house was built! Then they changed owners and now their windows are over priced & POOR QUALITY, an expensive waste of money! read more

I contacted three glass companies re replacing a window that had been hit by a golf ball. One was there to see what other home improvements they could sell me, the second scheduled an appt to give me a quote but never showed up, Gilbert Glass gave me a quote that was very reasonable and scheduled installation in a time frame that worked for me. These guys were amazing. I had a broken window that I had to get taken care of and I called another company to do it but unfortunately there was a miscommunication with them and that didn't happen. I called these guys the day prior and we scheduled an appointment for the next morning. The technician was on time and did the job quick and was easy going and explained what was going on. That get one start because they did provide glass. However customer service is poor. We ordered glass for kitchen cabinets. The cabinets company had the glass cut. No one at Gilbert Glass bothered to check to make sure it was the correct glass. Of course it was not. Their excuse was the company who they ordered glass from said they no longer carried that style (even though I stood there and listened to the call when they confirmed they did have the glass) so they sent something similar. What a great company! Great Service and they worked around my schedule which was after hours. Being in sales customer service and your client comes first and you want the first impression to always last. You never hear good things about companies and people are quick to pull the trigger on writing a negative review. Well let me tell you Gilbert Glass was top notch!!!! Our tech was Craig or Greg and we was very nice and made the job look easy. We were charged $120 for the replacement and I feel that is a very fair price as I was quoted up to $350 else where for an hour of work. I highly recommend you use this company for window replacement or fixes. There customer service was state of the art and very helpful. Gilbert Glass removed our old glass shower enclosure and installed a nice replacement in late 2018. Early 2019 the door started dragging when closing. 1 phone call and Gilbert Glass came out and fixed it quickly. Late 2019 the same draggy door condition appeared. 1 phone call to schedule a warranty repair a few days later. A friendly and competent tech appeared right on time and, voila' - our door is working perfect again, and I believe it will stay that way. Would recommend them. read more

Had the worst customer service experience at Gilbert Glass last weekend. The person working the front counter quoting us prices acted as if we were a waste of her time. And their prices were more than double two other places that we got quotes from. Those two other glass shops were within $5 dollars of each other. For some reason their prices were astronomical compared to other shops. Both my wife and I felt as if Gilbert Glass thought our small order was a waste of their time and figured if they quoted us a high price we would not put in an order. read more

They put in a glass door at my home. The door was not stable. I have to paid extra $60 dollars and a good review to have it fixed. After 6 months , the glass door dragging and even though it is in warranty . They sent people come for three times and they finally cut off the water protection. And now every time I have shower, I have to have the towel cover the area, so the water not damage the wall. I called Gilbert glass and the guy said I have to pay this time because he has sent people out for many time. In my opinion , it not how many time you sent people out. Just make sure it works for the customers. I am now left in the limbo , because I don't know how to fix the problems. read more

We upgraded our home in 2013. at that time, we had Gilbert Glass install (2) new glass shower doors and panels. They did a great job and we were very satisfied. However, one of the door hinges failed and the door cannot closed correctly. They did come out to look at the hinge but wanted to charge us $250 to replace it. We feel that this is not a normal failure since there is no pressure or any way to cause this type of a failure in 4 years. We are an adult family and do not abuse the door. Just hired Gilbert Glass to repair a glass shower enclosure. Gilbert Glass is literally 1 mile from my home. When I went in to get an estimate, I was told that I would be charged $60 per man per hour and that the max time would be three hours. I was also told that I would be charged $80 for the stick of channel they would be using. There was no advising of a trip charge. I asked the employee, "If it took less than 3 hours, would I be charged for the actual time?" and was told that I would only be charged for the time actually on site. When the tech arrived, we marked the time at 10:30 AM and he went to work. The work was completed and, as I was handing the tech my credit card, I noted the time at 12:15 PM, a total of 1.75 hours. The tech did an awesome job on our shower and that is why the 3 stars. As far as billing, the charge was going to be for the whole three hours. I told the tech that the agreement was for the actual time spent. He called in to his boss and the new amount was for 2.5 hours as he stated that he was here for two hours and they added a half hour travel time, even though the business is located 5 minutes away. The company does great work, but if you use them, get all billing in writing, mark the time of arrival and have the tech initial it. Mark the time of completion and have the tech initial it, and get in writing if there is a trip charge or not, and if there is, have it included in the estimate. Great work, shady billing. read more

Some time ago, I brought my double pane sliding glass door panel into Gilbert Glass to have them replace the glass which was broken. When I got the door back, the gaskets were hanging out a bit and looked very sloppy... I asked the guy who did the work "is that the best you can do with that?" to which he responded with a lazy "yeah". I took the panel home, took it apart and put it back together and it looked much better... and I'm not that handy. I will not go back to this place for any work. read more

Outstanding work and their price was unbeatable. When it came time for the initial measurement, they were very patient with me since I am handicapped and we had to look at all the options. Gilbert Glass is great! I had a shower glass, window repair and mirror repair done. They showed up when they said they would....cleaned up after themselves!!!! and had the fairest price. The techs were friendly, gave good suggestions, knew their jobs well and did not waste a minute of time. I will definitely call them again with any of my glass needs. read more

Update from previous posting of November 28th, 2017. The Registrar of Contractors (ROC) has now found Gilbert Glass's workmanship failing to "meet minimum workmanship standards." The ROC re-inspected the windows and determined the above finding based on actual measurements of the windows, including an email from Tru Lite (manufacturer) stating that Gilbert Glass "measured" the windows incorrectly. Gilbert Glass is now ordered to replace the windows correctly. Gilbert Glass's Senior Estimator, Dennis Kempton, has never apologized for his employee measuring the windows incorrectly in 2016. He has never acknowledged the fault lay with his company. Instead, he repeatedly states, "I'm sorry if I upset you." Tru Lite representative, Frank Thomas is equally insincere. His company, Tru Lite was all talk and NO action, even after we submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint. He and "VP Tony" verbally and via email, stated they would replace the windows gratis if we'd submit new measurements from a new company. We did--they REFUSED to make the windows until the BBB complaint was removed. We removed it--NO ACTION from them. Frank Thomas now wants "social media" to know that their product was not defective in this case. Both of these companies should invest in serious customer service training. We cannot recommend either company. read more
