Initially we were thrilled with our flooring. A little overpriced and I find manufactured discounts insulting as a consumer, but that aside we landed a good crew (they have no installers, they hire out) and the floors looked amazing! Fast forward 2 years and we discovered damage to one floorboard - the top layer was splintering and lifting. We bought their warranty, in this case, Bankers Warranty Group/Centricity/Centricity Services of St. Petersburg, FL. So when I found the damage I called the number on the brochure and filed a claim. I was told two weeks later via a voicemail that my claim was denied. They said they do not cover water damage. I was very clear that this area is the most traversed and stood upon area of our home as it is in front of the sink. From this they concocted water damage. I tried to contact them but all correspondence is "no reply" and no one would return my calls. Eventually I was able to file another claim online. NO response at all! After another week or so I called Empire Today. They were very nice. They're always very nice. They even filed a third claim supposedly, which Centricity rubberstamped "denied" again. I worked in the insurance industry for a while..this is a shady practice, designed to encourage claimants to get frustrated and just go away. So I said to the CSR, "well if the damage is not due to an accident, or water damage, it must be a defect so I expect Empire to repair it." It has been so long now that a second plank is beginning to splinter. She put me on hold to speak with her GM. When she came back she said she had great news - her GM was willing to wave the cost of supplies but I would have to pay labor costs of $150. Surely they know I have planks here!!! ONE FIFTY to repair a defective product they installed just two years ago?!! I guess customer satisfaction is not really part of their mission statement afterall. The flooring is okay but dulls easily and no one at Empire seems to know how to care for it. I asked repeatedly during and after installation to both the installers and the office. Eventually I found answers on the internet. The joints where the baseboards meet are sloppy and some are beginning to separate. We bought from a franchise and paid MUCH more than had we gone with a local, smaller installer because we thought we would have peace of mind. HAHAHA! Empire Today is a fraud. Product is mediocre. Product is way overpriced! But most importantly, once it is installed, they DO NOT SUPPORT OR ASSIST THEIR CUSTOMERS. Support small business in your area. I put off replacing my windows for 15 years, daunted by the task. However, I met with Mariano from Empire and he guided me from start to finish. I felt very comfortable, he took the time with me, going through each step of the process. The team of Marco, Ben & Luis arrived on time & were very friendly. I can't say enough great things about this company. I had an unfortunate accident and broke a window in my new condo. I have specialty windows and when I looked them up, only 3 places in AZ were listed as carrying them. I reached out to all 3 places. Empire Doors Windows responded to me within the hour via email and phone. The project mgr Tim and Mariano were amazing through every step of this process. I appreciated their professionalism, the attention to detail and them making the extra effort to get everything correct. They gave me a solid quote with a breakdown, kept me informed of lead times and set realistic expectations, as this happen to me right around Christmas and the manufacturer was closed for the holidays. After the holidays Tim confirmed everything with me again and the process was underway. As soon as the window was in, Tim called me to set a date for the installation. He ended up having an opening and called me back, so I was able to get the window repaired a week earlier then planned. Mariano's crew that installed the window were professional and friendly. They made sure to have me look at the work from the inside and the outside before I signed off on anything. I appreciated the small details like the fact that they cleaned up after themselves and wiped down the glass. Knowing that I have pets and have pet gates to make sure they don't get out, the installers were attentive to making sure to close the gates behind them, along with the doors to make sure my pets were safe. I rarely give 5 starts, but I could not think of a reason not to. My first time window buying, I got about 4 quotes, all pretty similar in cost, but Mario from Empire was great to deal with. He responded quickly and answered every question I had always setting my mind at easy about a big or little detail via phone call, text or email. I was a bit nervous the night before install, but it went great, the guys were hard working, clean and respectful, no issues whatsoever. We had a window in a rental unit that I was sure needed to be replaced. Mariano stopped by for a quote and instead of taking me for a new window said he could just fix the existing one. He did. Do not order windows from them . Long story short... They have awful customer service. After paying for three windows, two of the windows took about three weeks longer than they had confirmed. They never called to tell me there was a problem with the window. When I called them they stated there was something wrong with the window so they sent it back. They never called me to let me know this was going on. When we picked up the window and got it home we realized the screen was missing. They had the nerve to say that the screen was there at pick up - that's an absolute lie. It's also crazy that they would actually say that to me. After finally getting the screen picked up and installing it it was damaged. Our window installer had to take everything apart and remake the screen. I did not want to call them because I was so tired of arguing with these people. I also want to state that the windows look to be like they were made very cheaply I posted some pictures. I called a few weeks back and spoke to the sales person who after speaking with me for a few minutes needed to get back to me on a quote. I have no problem with that understanding that prices have to be looked up before issuing an accurate quote. He said he would call me back. Fast forward 2/3 weeks later never heard back so I called back and again spoke to a person who answered the phone who apologized for the delay in responding to me and said that the sales person was assisting another client. Fast forward 1 more week and again no call back. So I visited the website and wrote them a note. Fast forward another week. You guessed it, no response. So I guess my point being is this, Empire Windows and Doors may be a legit business the folk I've spoken with are pleasant and attentive however, not returning a customers calls (for whatever reason)is not the best way to do business. I suggest they either hire more sales people or put in place a better system that tracks your potential clients calls. Maybe set a reminder? Sorry Empire you forced my hand here. Robert read more
