I was really impressed by the very thin pancakes with crisp lacey edges. Someone really knows their way around that griddle

The delicate thin pancakes with crisp lacey edges are something that must be experienced. They also did an excellent job of getting the scrapple very crispy on the outside and still moist in the middle

This breakfast and lunch place in Chelsea section of the Tropicana is a little hidden jem. You can access it from outside or through the Tropicana. The prices are reasonable, the service friendly and the food comes out really fresh and fast. Good coffee and they even give you to go cups full if you want it. I got the short stack of French toast, my friend picked up scrambled eggs w/ bacon and a pancake with whipped butter. My hubby got a Taylor ham, egg and cheese omelet w/ rye toast, then made it a sandwich. My other friend ordered a western omelet w/ hash browns and rye toast. All that for $60. Good eats and prices.

Pretty long wait but you had the option to wait underneath heaters outside or go back to your car and they can call you! The hostess was fantastic. She handled the madness with a smile and grace. She took names, called parties, cleaned tables, etc. The entire staff was friendly and efficient despite being really busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is very small inside but felt comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was super yummy! It came out hot and fast. The home fries were pretty plain but were cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed them. The omelette tasty pretty healthy but had a healthy amount of cheese. The sausage was good. The hot cakes were also very good- we tried the blueberry and cinnamon apple special. I would love to try it again!!!!

We loved this restaurant. The people were so friendly and after 3 days going there we knew the crew. Our servers were Derrick and Amanda . They were very efficient. The breakfast was delicious. We got eggs over easy , we tried the omelets and we had pancakes for the table. One day we tried French toast for the table but preferred the pancakes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was decorated from the 70s look. It was cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I took a picture. One thing you should know if you are staying at the Tropicana you don't have to go outside to get to it, ask someone

Great food, one of the best breakfast spots in Atlantic City. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The views are great[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the service was good

I have to give a big shoutout to this place. The service here was amazing. I do apologize to the staff for the time of my arrival. I had no idea that I had arrived so close to close, I didn't do my research before coming here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked in and took a seat outside. Menu in hand, drink order place, and I already spotted what I was going to have.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went with the Hungry Man Combo #2. This is basically a full breakfast, two eggs (cooked to your liking), two hot cakes (pancakes for the common folk), choice of meat (bologna for me), and your choice between home fries or grits (home fries for me). With order placed, I took in the place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Being able to eat outdoors, but still in a covered area was peaceful. To be able to hear the water and birds, kind of amazing and pure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then my food arrived. Lord, this is a lot of food. Everything was cooked to perfection. The eggs were nice and fluffy, the bologna had the pinwheel look so that it would evenly cook on the gridle. Home fries were nice. The hot cakes though, they stole the show. Almost bigger than the plate, nice and fluffy, comes with a nice dollop of butter and you have the option to put as much syrup on as you want. I scarfed this down as quickly as I could, keeping in my the time I showed up. The staff here are amazing, not only did they serve me quickly and not make me feel small because of how out of it I was with the timing, but they were amazing with all the other customers. I was nearing the end of my meal and another customer had realized they left their form of payment in their vehicle. He informed them of this and wanted to leave something as collateral until he came back with the payment. They knew he would be back and didn't want any of that. Thank you again for accommodating me, and one of the tastiest meals while in the area.

Solid breakfast spot. The food and customer service is A1. Sunday around 10:45am, the place was packed but they were a revolving door! We got seated rather quickly, considering all the people there. The food was pretty great, especially their special of the day: crab, spinach & Cheese omelette! The pancakes were fire too! The prices were more than reasonable.

Every once in a while you stumble on a spot that is the true definition of a hidden gem and Gilchrist Restaurant is one of them. Tucked away on a marina dock in the shadow of Atlantic City's casinos this breakfast place is not fancy by any means but the food is spot on. Everything tasted delicious, especially their Blueberry Hot Cakes which they are famous for and we could see why. Big, flavorful and loaded with blueberries. Everything else was excellent as well, including the eggs, bacon, home fries and grits. Coffee was delicious too. Can't wait to come back here when the weather is nice so we could sit outside and enjoy the water views.

Good food every time. Always a wait but it moves fast and they accommodate whatever size party without reservations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cozy and on the water - perfect for a breakfast or lunch with family and right on the water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also happens to be next to the aquarium[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What a great find. We came down for the teachers convention and stayed at the Tropicana. Our room ended up at the Chelsea Tower and this place is conveniently downstairs from it. I ordered the special waffle which was loaded with berries. Sooo good. Everyone else's order was great as well. Definitely will be back when we come to The Trop. It's way better than the place we usually eat at in The Quarter.

This spot is a definite find! I was searching for diners but found this little treasure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a parking lot and bay side indoor and outdoor seating. The view is fantastic and we lucked out getting one of the best tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food portions were large. There is a nice condiment basket on the table with the basics plus hot sauce and honey which i appreciated. I feel like there was an entire brick of scrapple in my omelette. Food came quick. Servers are attentive! You do need to pay inside. We did not know this and sat for a while waiting for to go boxes and to pay our bill, look forward to coming back soon.

Gilchrist - Atlantic City - Never a bad meal and the best hot cakes around! Great brunch spot after a night of gambling, drinking, or if you just want a greatbreakfast or brunch. Must order spinach crab omelette (daily special, not on menu)
    Kammy F.

Must order spinach crab omelette. So light and full of crab protein It's not on the standard menu but ask the waiter about it. The banana walnut french toast is a good but I will try their famous blueberry hot cake for the next visit. Seat by the water if you come early. During the weekend usually that is a long line, but if you can come before 9am, you usually can be seated right away. It's a chill way to start a day.

Coastal Craft Kitchen & Bar, located inside Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, managed to accomplish the latter before our breakfast had even arrived. A group of ten educators arrived on a Saturday morning to consume calories before walking around the corner to the convention center. We were greeted promptly and seated without delay. Initially, this felt like a triumph. Then the drama began. While we were waiting to order, a spectacular shouting match erupted between a customer and a food runner. The argument spread quickly, drawing in a server and the hostess. The customer appeared to be the primary author of the hostility. Nevertheless, watching uniformed staff members engage in a loud, public shouting match is an uncomfortable way to begin a morning. It is disconcerting to sit at a table wondering if you have accidentally wandered into the climax of a workplace dispute. Order was eventually restored and the food arrived. In my home state of New Jersey, pork roll is treated with near-religious reverence. I ordered the Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese, which cost eighteen dollars. What arrived was a small, sad slab of meat and egg resting on a roll of questionable freshness, accompanied by a modest pile of uninspired breakfast potatoes. A neighborhood bagel shop five minutes away routinely prepares a far superior version of this exact sandwich for less than half the price. My nine companions were similarly uninspired by their plates. People understand that casino establishments charge extra for proximity and convenience. However, paying a high premium for mediocre food served alongside screaming matches feels like a poor trade agreement. We were seated quickly, which was nice. But an eighteen-dollar disappointing sandwich and a front-row seat to verbal combat do not equal a pleasant morning. Next time, I will seek my morning pork roll elsewhere.

We finally tried the Borgata Buffet and honestly I do not understand some of the bad reviews…read more Yes it is a casino buffet so the price is higher at around 43 per person, but there are definitely ways to get it comped or discounted, and for the quality you are getting it actually feels worth it. The variety is great and everything we tried tasted fresh and well made. Nothing felt like it had been sitting too long and the staff was constantly maintaining the stations. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. The staff working the buffet line were also all really nice and genuinely seemed happy to be there which makes such a difference. Food wise there were a lot of standouts. The chargrilled steak had a really nice flavor and the prime rib was super tender and juicy. The pastas were cooked perfectly and the sauces were light, bright, and flavorful instead of heavy. The mac and cheese is an absolute must. They use big shell noodles with a creamy cheese sauce and toasted breadcrumbs on top which gives it great texture. The collard greens were surprisingly one of our favorite things and we went back for seconds. So much flavor. The spiced shrimp is a hidden gem and definitely something we grabbed multiple times. The pizza was also surprisingly good. We tried the mushroom and spinach and it honestly tasted like something you would get from a really solid pizza spot not a buffet. The only thing I would say is the chicken parm is hit or miss depending on how fresh it is. If it has been sitting it can get a little soggy so I would try to grab it when a fresh tray comes out. Pro tip leave room for dessert. The dessert section is incredible. The gelato was rich and creamy especially the chocolate. The croissant cinnamon roll hybrid was flaky on the outside with a soft gooey center and the cookies and cream cheesecake was rich without being too heavy. I also really liked how the seating is set up. You can sit on either side of the buffet and choose between booths or tables which makes it feel a little less chaotic. This is definitely a spot we will keep coming back to when we are at Borgata.
