This was my first time taking my lil dog here and I was pleasantly surprised. The people there were very friendly and attentive. I wanted my dog to enjoy his normal spa days even though we've just moved to this area. They gave him a nice cut, done his nails I could tell he'd been cared for. I'm very satisfied with my services and I can tell my dog was happy too! I do recommend this place if you want your dog groomed they really do an excellent job. I plan to come here as regular customers. Give this place a try if you haven't they are really good and their prices are reasonable. read more

My dog has been going to Gilligans for about three weeks. He absolutely LOVES IT! Every morning he gets so excited, and days that I don't take him he is visibly disappointed. When he gets home in the evening he is exhausted, and a tired pup is a good pup in my book. They post lots of pictures during the day to let you know what your dog is up to. The owner is not only racist, but also very unprofessional as you can see. She's deleted all her posts on Facebook of her threatening to send the police after people who leave bad reviews. She has also turned off reviews on her Facebook page for this reason. Her grooming skills are sub par as well as all cuts I've seen look very jagged. read more

DO NOT take your dog here. I arranged for long term boarding here due to an unexpected situation that occurred as a result of a cross country move. I stopped by to check on my dog a few times during his 3 weeks there and was deeply concerned each time. He had chronic diarrhea and was insane. I also was not told that they would be caged and he was very obviously spending most of his time in one. While I was greeted by a slew of barking, dirty dogs every time I opened the door, they had to retrieve him for me from the kennel they were keeping him in. My dog was used to spending a decent amount of time crated so I am appalled to think how much time he was confined to have made him so upset. I finally picked him up early out of concern for his health and they engaged in some truly ruthless efforts to collect more money from me than we had agreed upon and I had prepaid for his stay. read more

My dog Gunner died due to their failure to provide him with medical care after he suffered a life threatening emergency. The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services: Veterinary Division conducted an investigation and found them in violation of Title 02 of the North Carolina Administrative Code 52J.0210(c). CONCLUSIONS: As a result of this investigation, AWS , finds that the kennel, either by act or ommission, violated the Title 02 of the North Carolina Administrative Code 52J.0210(c). North Carolina Administrative Code 52J.0210(c) definition: 02 NCAC 52J .0210 VETERINARY CARE (c) Each dog and cat shall be observed daily by the animal caretaker in charge, or by someone under his direct supervision. Sick or diseased, injured, lame, or blind dogs or cats shall be provided with veterinary care or be euthanized, provided that this shall not affect compliance with any state or local law requiring the holding, for a specified period, of animals suspected of being diseased. If euthanasia is performed at a certified facility, a list of personnel approved to perform euthanasia shall be maintained in a Policy and Procedure Manual as described in 02 NCAC 52J .0800. Diseased or deformed animals shall be sold or adopted only under the policy set forth in the "Program of Veterinary Care." Full written disclosure of the medical condition of the animal shall be provided to the new owner. read more

Gillian's came highly recommended by two friends. We used them for doggie day care and then for baths. We had planned to use them this past weekend for boarding but NC was under a mandatory evacuation for hurricane Florence and we evacuated to keep our family and pups safe. I called Gillian's to find out about getting our deposit back since 1) it was a state of emergency and 2) much of sneads Ferry was under water. I was told it's their normal policy to keep the deposit. That's not a good business practice due to the nature of a hurricane coming through Onslow co and destroying the area. They are only getting 2 stars because they did help us in the beginning but the inflexibility and the dismissal attitude of the staff is unacceptable. We will not be returning. read more

Our experience started off well. I was originally taking our dog to Scott's Hill, but on the path of their decline, I found Gilligans and was hopeful, especially with their close proximity to our home. I toured the facility and met with the staff prior to bringing our dog there late last year. During her first few times of boarding, I noticed that my dog had lost a little weight during her stay, but felt it was normal since she suffered from separation anxiety. Our first incident with Gilligan's wasn't terrible, but it did cause enough alarm for us to decide to never have her groomed there again. Our dog is a fluffy, Great Pyrenees who suffered from a heat stroke due to the out of date dryers used at Gilligan's during her grooming session. With her being 9 years old at the time and suffering from the stroke, I was extremely upset, but in consideration of the facility, we chose to continue boarding and cease grooming. This was her first and only grooming experience at Gilligan's. Although this incident does not show harmful intent, I wish I would have considered it more and taken our girl elsewhere because this most recent incident has caused severe damage to her health and appearance. Five weeks ago, my husband and I went on a business trip together. We were gone for 8 days and left plenty of food with Gilligan's for our girl, as well as her bedding and a blanket. In the middle of our trip, I asked my husband to call Gilligan's just to check in and see how our dog was doing. The young girl that answered my husband's call did inform him that our dog had a "slight rash" and that ointment had been put on it, but that nothing was wrong or severe. Please keep in mind that with our dog being 9 at this time as well, we had other named family members who could pick her up and take her to a vet from Gilligan's in case of any issues. My husband and I returned home very late on a Thursday evening and got to our actually house on early Friday morning. After my husband's promotion ceremony that Friday morning (10AM), then some work on my end, I called Gilligan's (345PM) to let them know I was on my way to pick her up. When I saw my dog, I was HORRIFIED. The new girl that greeted me, warned me that she had a "skin condition". When my dog came out, I was in tears. She had and still has over 1ft of hair completely missing from her back side. At the time of pick up, she was bleeding, her fur was completely gone, she had puss coming from the wound and an obvious infection that was festering. The new girl, continue to tell me she wasn't sure what had happened and that she was new. I immediately called our wonderful vet, who was willing to stay open for me to bring our dog in. As stated in the vet paperwork, this was due to neglect. It seems that our dog had a hot spot (which understandably can show up at any moment), but even our vet and vet assistants said that at the degree of her injury this was due to neglect and with such a severe infection, anyone that actually cares about an animal's well being would have taken the dog or called a vet prior to it being in the state it was in. Now, 5 weeks later, our poor girl has another full blown infection on the same bare skin spot that was chewed away. After spending at the vet to remedy this situation, I brought my vet bills to Gilligan's owner, Allison. Originally, Allison, did waive the boarding fee (of course, because my dog was NOT taken care of), but she proceeded to tell me that I signed a responsibility release back in November which waives Gilligan's of any mishaps. The definition of a "mishap" is accident. ANIMAL NEGLECT does not fall under mishap, according to the attorney, as well as other animal organizations that I have reported to. This is not a mishap. Our girl is sweet, kind and gentle. She did not deserve to be neglected. I don't care about the money being spent on her vet bills. She has not been the same since. The infection spread throughout her entire body, her ears, and have begun to affect her internally. She is now 10. Please do not bring your pets here. read more

Took two small dogs for daycare. Went to pickup and one dog was running around the place by himself and the other was shut up in a cage (she's gentle with all people and all dogs and have never had issues with her). No people were around. We were not told cages were an option. Will not be back- also I'm not someone who writes reviews, I'm just angry enough to do so this time.
