What began as a relatively good car buying experience deteriorated as time went by. While the salesman was low pressure during test drive and initial talks, it soon turned into games and playing dumb when the sales manager got involved. What was more troubling is some of the accessories listed on the window sticker, and that were in the vehicle during test drive and pictured on website, went missing once deal was done and they took car back for detailing. I eventually got them back after asking about them but it required a return trip to dealership. The only thing keeping this from a one star review is the finance department was low pressure and was a smooth, and accurate process. read more

Extremely Disappointed - Sold My Vehicle to Someone Else I was purchasing a 2024 Cadillac XT4 Premium Luxury and was told the vehicle would be detailed for me to pick up. I committed to buying this vehicle and was waiting for the agreed-upon preparation to be completed. While I was waiting to pick up the car I had committed to purchase, the dealership sold it to another buyer. I received no communication about this until I followed up to arrange pickup. This is unprofessional business practice. When a customer commits to a purchase and the dealer agrees to prepare the vehicle, there's an expectation of good faith on both sides. Selling the vehicle out from under a committed buyer shows a lack of integrity and respect for customers. I understand dealerships need to move inventory, but honoring commitments to customers should be the baseline standard. I cannot recommend this dealership based on this experience and would caution others to get everything in writing with a deposit down before trusting verbal agreements. What could have been different: A simple phone call explaining the situation or honoring the commitment to the first buyer would have been the professional approach. read more

Once we hit the parking lot our sales guy was patient and not pushy. He answered questions and showed interest in our questions. He afforded plenty of tire kicking and test driving. If there was a question he could answer he was honest and sought out the answer. The buying process was smooth and the only issue we had was with "smartpay" that was offered. Smartpay should be avoided but this isn't about them. Finance was awesome and smooth process. Management was supportive and professional. If you read this much and wonder why it's only one star, this review is the opposite of what we encountered with Gillman Subaru and why we bought from Northside Ford. read more

I was left with a mess and $170. out-of-pocket for the diagnosis and repair. For over a month I have tried to get Gillman to reimburse me, but they do not even bother to return my calls. I contacted the national service line with no luck. I finally went to the Gillman Subaru dealership weeks ago. The service representative said the service manager told her to inform me that "the check was in the mail". I received reimbursement after six weeks of having my telephone calls and emails ignored. This regards their service department. I scheduled a 135K service visit online (which includes oil change, various inspections, etc), and added a note to check for a small leak in the rear axle seal that had been noticed by our long-term "tire pro". When we arrived at the department, the young lady that assisted us told me I needed a complete inspection to the tune of $190, more or less. The car is an older model, so I agreed, thinking this would be in addition to the service visit I had scheduled online. After sitting in the waiting area (which is very nice), we got a video of the inspection sent to our cell phones. The first thing we noticed was that the service tech was recommending we buy four new tires, since ours were old and cracked. Very odd, since we had just had those tires rotated and our tire pro didn't mention anything about needing new tires, and he absolutely would. Then we waited for another hour for their recommendations, and were horrified to receive "recommendations" that were in bright red and needed to be done IMMEDIATELY...to the tune of nearly $8000.00!!!! In addition to the tires, they wanted to replace all the seals in the engine ($4000), the real axle seal leak ($1000), all four tires ($1000) all the belts, and I don't know what all else. All this for a car that has had NO PROBLEMS. Needless to say, we declined all these options. In about 15 minutes, we were told the car was ready to go. I asked about the 135K service visit oil change, etc. and was told "oh, no...I didn't see that." But she DID see the note about the leak in the rear seal. Since they were on the same order, I'm not sure how that was missed. So, bottom line, we paid over $200 to be told we needed $8000 in unnecessary repairs, and for a car wash. No oil change, no nothing. We will not be back. If I need repairs from a dealership, I'll be looking elsewhere. P. S. We took the car immediately to our "tire pro" who has taken care of us for 25 years and who handles ONLY TIRES. He came out, looked, and said we still had miles of wear left on our tires. Learn from our mistake...ask questions...lots of them...before agreeing to anything. read more

Purchased a vehicle on 10/11/24 - was told there were no mechanical issues with the van (twice) - drove fine during the short test drive on 35 access roads. Hours after driving it off the lot, it started clunking. Both lower control arms were bad and needed replacing ($800 - they did give me $400 to offest this cost, but I had to sign a paper saying I would not ask for more money). While they were fixing the control arms, they found that the water pump was leaking ($670) which was causing the van to overheat while sitting at stoplights. AC compressor went out on 10/28/24 - another expensive repair. I have purchased several used cars over the years, and I have never had one that broke down so quickly. This was to be our family car for road trips, but now I'm worried about what else will break down. I mistakenly put my trust in the Gillman name. read more

I just want to state up front that my service advisor Pedro Sanchez was very friendly and tried to be helpful, but there's apparently nothing that could've been done in this situation to make it better. My appointment was for 11:30 AM. I arrived at 11:15 AM. At 12:20 PM, I noticed that my car was sitting in a line of cars. I asked my service advisor about it and he said that at point I was third in line. So I'd already been waiting for an hour and they wanted me to wait for another hour and a half. 2 1/2 hours for an oil change is ridiculous. Especially when you have an appointment for a specified time. What's the point of setting an appointment time if they're not even going to service your vehicle within a reasonable amount of time. Waiting an hour for nothing is unreasonable. I also want to mention that when I tried to make the appointment, their phone system hung up on me five times. When I called back and managed to get a person, they transferred me and then it didn't hang up on me but also no one answered. Six times trying to make an appointment by phone. I gave up and finally made the appointment online. When I told my service advisor about this today, he said that I was the "12th person today" to tell him about that. And that they were looking into it. I don't think I've ever waited over an hour and a half for an oil change at Austin Subaru. read more

UPDATE!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE THEY ARE THIEVES So I called back and spoke with Garry or Jerry Lewis who assured me that they will diagnose the A/C system to see what was wrong with it..for free. Which they did as you can see at the attached pictures, but according to them I needed a new compressor with they were going to charge me full price or just help me with a $300 discount cause I was so pissed with them. I said,"you guys messed with my system because it not the first time you work on something and something else completely different breaks." But Lewis said they had nothing to do with it and sweared to good that they don't conduct business like that. Well, with just a check light I found out that my compressor was working but not getting any signal to turn on from the AC Relay. So I did a little research and found out that the relay turns on with the LOW PRESSURE SWITCH. I looked for it and come to find out...it was disconnected. KEEP in mind, that switch needs pressure to come off. Wires will spilt before it comes off but it was off. So somebody from GILLMAN SUBARU is either an IDIOT TECHNICIAN or a THIEF TECHNICIAN or maybe it's just GILLMAN SUBARU policy to steal peoples money with fixing problems they cause. Two stars only because Sales team was awesome! We worked with Bryson to buy a 2023 Ascent and he was fast, efficient, straightforward, and really fun to work with. Unfortunately working with the Service Department was the opposite. I am so glad we don't actually live here and won't have to depend on them for service! First, they didn't offer us a loaner car for a $1000/5 hr job (turned out to be 7 hours, everything they have done for us has taken longer than quoted) because loaners are given out based on a "hierarchy". Loaners have been standard at every other Subaru dealership we have worked with over the past 8 years (this is our 3rd Subaru, and we have moved several states with them, always went to dealership for service and it's always been great) So we drive 2 cars the 60+ miles to the dealership and wait in the area. During the 2 hours it took for them to clean the track of our drivers window, they scratched the tint (3-4 inches) on the windshield of our brand new car that we had just about 8-10 days before paid $1000 to put tint on ($499 for the windshield alone) AND LET US DRIVE AWAY WITHOUT TELLING US !!! It was obvious someone had seen the scratch because there were fingerprint smudges around it as if someone had felt it to see if it would wipe off or not. We noticed immediately and took it back. They were eager to replace the tint and "make it right" and offered a loaner this time. So I drove 60 miles in my brand new car with kids, switched over car seats to the loaner, and wasted time in the Selma area for 4 hours (how long they told me it'd take to replace tint) They text 5.5 hours after I dropped it off saying they were still working on it. It was triple digit temps and we were all ready to get our car and drive the hour home, traffic would start to build soon, so I went back to the dealership to see what was up. 6 hours after I dropped it off for a 4 hour job that was only necessary because they messed up, they're still tinting the car... the tint didn't sit right the first time and they had to re do it. I only found this out because I went in for it (otherwise I assume we would've kept wasting time until...?) So they let me keep the loaner and drove it to us to swap out the next day (today) This was their "making it right", which was only necessary because they messed it up. Over and over again. Update: When we got our car back we noticed the tint had set with many bubbles and glue. Took it back again. They redid it *again*. They did offer a loaner this time as well. They also noticed a scratch on another window that was a factory defect, so they replaced and tinted it. As long as the tint job is decent quality this time, we are satisfied, although the back and forth to get to this point was more difficult than it should have been. read more

Overall I'm happy with our purchase but there are a couple digs I have. - we were lead to believe that we got a "good deal" and they "worked hard to get (me) this deal"... the financing paperwork we reviewed in more detail after getting home suggested otherwise - there were far more dings and scratches/dents on our certified used 2019 Subaru Forester than I would've liked to pay for. - we felt rushed and pressured to get things moving and wish we had more time to slow down and really understand the process - Gillman had been blowing up my email begging me to buy a car but as soon as I do there's nothing that was even given to me as an incentive? - told us that this was only the THIRD forester touring that's been through the dealership in ten years (which is obviously a complete lie). I saw a used vehicle online at this dealership. I contacted the salesperson and found someone to do an inspection since I live in Dallas. After telling the salesperson (Al Stevens) about issues the inspector found, he initially said there was no issue, then said he would have the service dept look at it. That is the last communication I got from him. I texted him many times after that (dummy has read receipts turned on so I know he saw them). That was Monday. Today I left a message for the GM and told him what was going on. Two hours later I got a text from Al saying the vehicle was sold (poor sap who bought that lemon). I could say it was one shitty sales guy, but the manager didn't call me back and say, hey, that didn't go well. Sorry about that. So don't trust these people. At all. Ever. read more

I can't drive the vehicle that I recently purchased because the rust has comprised the breaking system and the breaks have failed in the front. Wasted FOUR HOURS here. We made a deal on a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. Did all the paperwork. I was calling to swap my insurance and my husband was literally putting my stuff in the new car. When he was done he thought to check the VIN. These dudes had us test drive a Crosscheck Limited but the entire time they had us negotiating a Crooscheck Premium (which we never even looked at). They messed up and wouldnt even give us a good deal for it. Literally just waisted our time. We would have drove off the lot with their (wrong) car. Long story short, go to North Park Subaru.
