Took my vehicle to get a diagnostic on overheating issue. Tony was sure he knew the problem. Keep in mind we are on a fixed income and was not trying to rebuild the unit. Explained another garage had done $2400.00 in subpar work. They kept vehicle a couple days, called said that unit needed $3800 + in repairs, didnt seem right but I declined and picked up unit. Paid $90.00 for service, vehicle was parked for almost 7 weeks, a week ago, my grandson came to town asked what wrong with vehicle told him, he took a look and told me, 1st off engine guards top & bottom were missing and all the tabs & rivets were placed by windshield. $220.00 to replace. He fixed my unit for $50.00. A clogged radiator was the problem! NOT REPLACE THERMOSTAT / WATERPUMP / RADIATOR. Tony still has not called to tell where my parts are at!!! After taking my 09 Lexus to the dealership twice, once in November for a headlamp issue which wasn't repaired and again in December where they kept my car for 3 weeks. They were asking for around a thousand dollars for initial diagnostic and additional diagnostic w/o repair I decided to try Main Street Garage for a second opinion. They contacted me three days later with the issue preventing my car from starting. Then they contacted me first thing this morning advising me my car was ready for pickup. I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado that one day displayed a warning: reduced engine power. Brought it in and they fixed it. A couple days later, same thing happened. Brought it back and this time they kept it for several days, chased down the root cause and corrected it (hopefully for good), and didn't charge me, said it was paid once so good to go. This is a follow on of my first review of Main Street Garage Since they had replaced the motor in my vehicle, and they warrantied parts and labor on the engine they selected and put in my vehicle. The engine started running very rough along with other issues so took my vehicle back to them since tit was still under warranty. it took them a few days to look at the vehicle test drove it and went inside the motor and the timing gear and chain had skipped which is an internal part of the motor supposedly covered by the warranty and Main Street Garage stated now even though the warranty they gave said parts and labor with no exceptions on their warranty that they would not honor the warranty and wanted $2,100 to change the timing gear and chain. So, in summation of this fiasco Mian Street Garage will change parts on your vehicle without approval and charge full price, put wrong parts on vehicles and not cover the damage they caused because of wrong parts. Will not honor their own warranties. In short Main Street Garage is nothing but a rip off garage ran by con artist! Customers stay away from this place. This place should have negative stars for their rating! read more

Someone came around our neighborhood selling discounted coupon cards. We have always drove by this place but never used them before. Family owned and operated since the early 70s. I have to say they do exceptional work. My husband and I come here for an oil change and tire rotation. We haven't had any mechanical work done but we will give them a shot when that time does arrive. It is easy to make an appointment and come in get the work done. 1 star for service 1 star for location 1 star for facilities 1 star over all experience -bathrooms. (I always rate bathrooms. Great customer service and very understanding people. I was with friends coming from Houston on our way to San Antonio for the weekend when my car broke down on the interstate while going through Schertz. We were originally towed to a different mechanic, but had to find another place last minute because the other shop was closing for the weekend. We called Main Street Garage pretty late in the afternoon and they were willing to check my car as soon as we got there. They were able to give a detailed diagnostic of my car (better than the last mechanic we were at) pretty quickly and explained it well so I could understand what was happening. They were also very honest explaining that my issue was something that could only be fully resolved by the dealership. Received great assistance free of charge, and I'm very grateful! read more

I took my car in to this "reputable" repair shop this past March (about beginning of the month I'd say, maybe end of February.... who knows, I'm so frustrated I can't think straight) to get a whole new clutch assembly.... they call me saying my car is ready for pick up, I go down to get it, get handed the receipt and notice a rear main seal repair. Now before I can say anything about it or question it, the service advisor stated "I know we didn't talk about this over the phone, your rear main seal was leaking so we went ahead and replaced that." When I picked it up that day it was ready, speedometer and everything else on the dash EXCEPT for my tachometer and fuel gauge didn't work.Two days after getting my car back for what was initially a clutch issue: my oil light starts blinking, engine starts knocking and I can't get anywhere close to 2k RPMs without it sounding like something is going to knock through the block. Take it to get the oil checked/changed.... get the car in the bay and checked the dipstick, barely anything on the dipstick. Guy down in the pit says the oil coming out looks old, dirty and nasty.... and about a quart to a quart and a half (if that) drained out. I take my car back again (four days after picking it up) and told them everything that transpired between the day I picked it up when my clutch was replace till now. This was roughly about the middle of March.... I HAVE JUST NOW GOTTEN MY CAR BACK FROM THIS MONEY PIT A MONTH LATER with the same issue and problem still. I would just like to note and point out that I had JUST gotten my oil change A MONTH PRIOR to taking my car in to this joke of a shop for my clutch. I had gotten this car September/October of 2021, I've gone back to every shop I got my oil changed at since October up until now: no notes on the copies of any of these receipts about having a leak anywhere, never had a knocking issue or heard a knocking sound from September/October of last year when I got my car until after getting my car back from them this past March stating the clutch was fixed. I'm sure some of y'all are wondering as to why my car was there for a month, I will be more than happy to enlighten y'all: they had to order a part they needed for my car, and that was on back order. Do y'all think I at once, during this whole month my car was at their shop, got a phone call about what's going on with my car? NOPE! I had to call once a week and ask what was going on. Tony (the service advisor who'd be helping me) finally let's out this tiny tad bit of information this past Monday, and said that my car would be ready if not that evening Tuesday morning. TUESDAY AFTERNOON about 2 called the shop and ask for Tony, Antonio answers and says Tony stepped out for a bit and Antonio has no clue or anything as to what's going on with my car.... call back 30 mins later still no Tony. Fast forward to 4 in the evening by this time, and JUST FINDING OUT from Antonio that Tony left for the rest of the and he told Antonio to let me know that he would call me today at 8am. I got the call, I got my car and taking it somewhere else. I hate pulling this card.... they did this to a veteran. read more

Expensive and do sloppy work. Needed a new turbo and after immediately picking the truck up it up coolant was leaking everywhere. It was the weekend so I had no choice but to wait until Monday. I called main st brought it in and they "claim it was the head gaskets" on a NON TUNED DIESEL with 89,000. Hmm. Brought it to an actual diesel shop, Texas diesel injection (good positive experience) and they said "no, it's not a head gaskets, it's the horrible job on the turbo. Clamps were in the wrong places, hoses were all over" either way they fixed main streets mess up. Never ever will I go again. Not only will they miss out on my multiple vehicles, they miss out on anyone I would have suggested go there as well. They also said I needed a ball joint, 442 dollar fix. When it was at the diesel shop, they said no. Even showed me the steering was tight and nothing was off. read more

What can I say about Main Street Garage other than they are the most honest and helpful auto shop I have ever been to. I took my Escape to them and turned out it needed a new engine. They showed me the probable cause for my engine failure and gave me advice on how to get the money to pay for the repair. It took me nearly two weeks to work out that process, but in the meantime they had no problem letting me leave my car there, and they didn't even charge me for it. When I picked up my car, they expressed concern for my tires, which I knew needed to be replaced, and gave me a couple of recommendations on where I could go for that. The warranty for my new engine is really good, and while I don't feel like I need the reassurance that they'll stand by their work, it's always nice to have. read more

Went by this place Monday after reading recent reviews. I had worked on my brakes the previous Sunday, got the front done, but had difficulty with the rear brakes. I didn't have the special tool needed to retract the rear brake cylinder on a Mazda 3. They made time to get me asap since I was in a desperate need to get to work. The caliper was actually frozen in place but they were able to finally retract the piston, thereby saving it and the extra cost of having to replace both rear calipers. It really didn't take them that long to get the job done. I'm deeply grateful for their expert service. They've won me over as a new customer. I highly recommend them. read more

I was driving my mother and daughter around in my van last week and the tire pressure light came on. I ignored it thinking it was nothing and then a several minutes later I heard a terrible noise coming from the front of the car. I realized quickly that it was the right front tire which had become completely flat. We happened to be on Schertz Parkway and I discovered that I had left my phone at home as well. I tried to drive the car a little way down the road but it sounded terrible. I managed to turn onto Main St and I pulled into one of the first garages I could find. I'm so glad it was Main St Garage. The service manager immediately offered to help. He filled up my tire enough so that I could pull further into the garage and then he examined the tire discovering that it had two holes in it. Sadly the tire was damaged beyond repair but he and a technician offered to put the spare on for me. I didn't have the key to the wheel lock and they were able to unlock it with their own device. I was utterly grateful for their help! It was so stressful to be in that situation and they literally came to the rescue. I would highly recommend Main St Garage! The mechanics I spoke to were polite and friendly and the service manager was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, funny, and extremely kind! read more

I got great service from main st garage. they're located a couple blocks down from my house and I had to push my car there to avoid towing (literally for two blocks). when I got the car to the entrance, the employees immediately helped push it into a parking spot and offered me some water. I gave them a figure on what my budget was and they took the time to find a part cheap enough for me to afford with the labor. Turned out I had a bad starter. I dropped it off at 3:30 and it was ready the following morning, so I walked over there to get it and it started right up. read more
