I have tried this donut spot a few times over the years since moving to Gilroy. The first few times were a bit more than 'ok'. I kept hoping they would improve or I just went on a bad day etc. This hope for improvement has not paid off ... each trip has progressively become more disappointing. Please keep in mind I have made it a strange goal in past 20 or so years to try a donut from every city I've spent time in (hundreds) The best I've ever had was at this little shop that had to shut down because the owner passed unexpectedly (he was such a sweet man and the whole family was just sweet), and Gibson's donuts in Memphis, TN (I was so fortunate to live near this place for many years). All this to say I'm supper picky about donuts. The quality and flavors in the donuts at Gilroy donuts have only declined .. not improved. The apple fritters are oily and inedible, the method of 'filling' a donut appears to be slicing them in half (such a lazy way of filling a donut) and treating it like a sandwich (making eating it weird as the top 'donut bun' slides around and the filling plops out.... That is NOT a filled donut), the glaze has a strange offputting taste that's very evident when eating just the 'glazed' donut, the filled bars are often slightly wet and soggy on the outside making for an unpleasant eating experience. The texture of the donut 'dough' itself often feels dry and not soft tender and pillowy like you want a donut to be. Almost as of the donors themselves are stale day old before filling and glazing. When I came here the first few times (for context, I've only bern here once or twice a year in the past five and a half years) the folks manning the counter were very nice and friendly even when on my first visit I did not realize it was cash only. However, the last two or three times in the past couple of years I've been in they were impatient and almost rude. It's a cute little hole in the wall 'typical' donut shop vibe. The donuts are inexpensive and sweet. The display is appealing as most donut displays are... every kid will love it. It is the only donut shop currently in Gilroy and I hope they step up their Game because I hear rumors that another shop is moving into town soon. I am all about supporting local businesses but I'm not sure I can in this instance. I may give them one more try next year. I'm not hopeful. read more

The place is small and seems to be hangout for locals. We're on road trip and I had hankering for a donut. Glad I stumbled upon this place. They have good variety of donuts. They are not pretentious nor trying the latest fad like mochi donuts. They did have something I had not seen and find it BRILLIANT, filled bars. We got Bavarian cream filled maple and chocolate bars. Cash only. We came here on a Saturday (10/24/20) around 7:45am. There were a few people here but everything was quick. We had a dozen donuts which consisted of 5 glazed, 3 blueberry, 2 chocolate, 1 chocolate sprinkle, and 1 barvarian filled bar for $10.60. The donuts were fresh and tasted great. My mother in law gets us donuts here when she was living in Gilroy. And oh my gosh, I never had such a fluffy donut in my life. The donuts are addicting! I couldn't stop at just one. My boyfriend lives in Gilroy, I live in San Jose. Best part of driving down to Gilroy is to get these donuts. Sorry boyfriend. :O) Staff are SO nice. Family run. Delicious donuts and great customer service! I ordered 3 dozen donuts for my daughters class to celebrate her birthday. Jeffrey took my order the day before I wanted to pick them up. He was very helpful and polite. My donuts were ready on time the next day and all the kids enjoyed. My husband usually picks up donuts for us they are always fresh and delicious. Cash only however so be prepared! Highly recommend. read more

Though i never stepped foot into this shop, i can attest to the quality of the donuts. I was training in gilroy for 2 weeks and there was Gilroy Donut House donuts every day. And i had one every day! Lol. I tired the blueberry old fashioned, maple old fashioned, maple cake with sprinkles and more. I consider myself a little snobby when it comes to donuts... and i highly recommend this place for one. read more

Pretty good. Very affordable dohnuts. I'm not sure if it's because I got there around 10pm but they weren't soft like fresh baked donuts are but for around 90 cents a donut you can't really complain for a slight stiffness. I would definitely go again. Nothing terrible to report. Also as a note that they didn't take card, so remember to bring cash, there is a atm at the knob hill like 3 minutes away in the same lot Edit: I ended up going after an early morning workout to try the coffee and to see if the donuts where any better than later in the day. At around 6:00 the service was absolutely great, the lady who helped me was very patient when I took an eternity to pick and get my money. The donut was very moist but crispy enough to want more. The coffee wasn't burnt and despite being just black coffee it was still good, I took it home and put some milk in it and had ZERO disappointments. If I could I'd give this place 6 stars read more

I'm a regular here and it seems unfair to give them one star due to a one-time negative experience, but I'm so appalled by it, that I think it's necessary. We're in a pandemic and health and cleanliness should be every business' number one priority. However, I'm extremely disgusted with my experience today. This is the first time I've ever seen this most awkward gentleman working here. He's a tall, bigger built dude with fairly long hair. I walked into the shop around noon to get some donuts after my starbies run, he came out from the back tying his apron on and did not say a word so I initiated a "Hi!" as he walked towards me. I told him I wanted a dozen donut holes and one chocolate raised donut. He grabbed one of those paper sheets to grab a chocolate raised donut from the bottom glass and tossed it on the upper rack flopping it upside down (that's fine, nbd) and then he took the same sheet and shoved it back into the brand new box of sheets to reuse later perhaps? instead of throwing it away?! He then goes over to the donut holes to get my dozen holes, again, grabs a sheet, but from a different box and instead of grabbing the donut holes with the sheet as expected...... HE CASUALLY GRABS ALL OF THE DONUT HOLES WITH HIS BARE PALM!!!! Like it was NBD!!!!!! What was the effen point of using the sheet?!?!???! I'm just watching through the donut glass window display totally disgusted and speechless at this point that I couldn't even say "never mind, I no longer want them". I paid, I left, and I couldn't stop thinking about where his hands were and if they were even close to being clean, hence he came from the back doing who knows what.... on his phone? Brushing his hair? Scratching his head? Idk. I haven't touched the holes and I'm scared to, but they're my favorite and this sucks big time! Just a terrible, terrible experience!!! The vibe he gave off was purely weird and awkward throughout the donut exchange and I'm so saddened that he ruined my love for Gilroy Donut House! I don't know if I'll ever be back, especially if he's working. Thanks, a lot! :( read more

I usually take a photo of my food before I eat it, but the blueberry old fashioned donut looked so good, I totally forgot about getting my camera ready!
