Get your car keys cause they don't deliver, I know it's not health food but it's damn good, Pro Tip, Call 30-50min before you want to pick up your pie.... and don't forget the punch card, you get it punched and every so often you get a free pie. Gil's has amazing pizza and I think it may be the best take-out pizza in Baltimore. Not kidding. The place only does pizza. If you want wings or a salad with your pizza, this isn't the place for you. This place serves pizza...and pizza. If you order 3, you get a free 2-liter. My main complaints with the pizza around the Baltimore area is that the pizza has too much crust and is too doughy, the crust is tough, there is barely enough sauce, the pizza is undercooked, etc. Gil's nails every part of the pizza. The crust is really tasty and not overly doughy. The sauce is delicious. The cheese and toppings are top notch. They only serve one size, which is roughly a medium. If you're splitting with someone who is a pizza hound, get 2 pizzas and you'll have some leftovers. It's a bummer that Gil's doesn't do delivery, otherwise we'd get Gil's a lot more. That's the main reason we didn't try Gil's sooner because by the time we realize we want pizza for dinner, the shoes are off and sweats are on. And there's no going back out after that. Fortunately, if we think ahead, we drive by it on our way home and it's ready to pick up. The owner is very friendly and the place has some cool history. I seriously won't get pizza as take-out from anywhere else now. If you're like I was, and disappointed in the pizza offerings in Baltimore, then GO TO GIL'S ASAP! No frills just a nice thin crust pizza. They only have one size and the pizza is vary good it's takeout only and there is a reason they have been around a long time and only sell one size pizza 12 inch anyway you want it. I got a regular cheese pizza and it's thin with lots of flop. The crust is vary crunchy and thin. Give them a try I will be back for sure! read more

We came here for lunch after reading all the other Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Gil's offers a very basic menu of only 12 inch pizzas with your choice of how many toppings you want. My wife and I opted for a half mushroom half pepperoni and both of us were full after sharing it. The owner doesn't skimp on the toppings and also adds a generous amount of cheese on top and the wait for it wasn't that long. Usually my wife's not the biggest fan of pizza but she enjoyed Gil's so next opportunity we get we will return. read more

The owner is a veryyyyyy nice guy. We struck up great convo while waiting on my pizza. The review had me ready for some greatttttt pizza. It is edible but nothing to write home about, I probably should have went to papa johns. There is actually too much mozzarella not enough sauce making it an extra chewy pizza. This sounds corny, but this is what pizza should taste like. What I'm getting at is I try a lot of pizzerias and I find myself saying, "Close..." but I'm left wanting. Gil's was not so much the pinnacle of pies as much as it was like coming home. Straight up delicious. Home cooking pizza in a little row house on Bel Air. This place has been there many many years. Pizza is not fancy but great. Canned mushrooms not fresh but yet it works. Go for double dough which is sold out as a topping. Nice guy too. Gave my boy a matchbox car. read more

Delicious pizza! Coming from New York I was impressed. The crust was a bit hard but other than that it's a good pizza. Small personal size pizzas only. My only regret is that I didn't get more. This place is so classic I get goose bumps when I put in an order. I have been eating this pizza since I can remember and my father can say the same thing. The pizza is one of a kind. You really cant compare it to anything else. They use a secret blend of cheeses which definetly includes an amazing asiago. I no longer live in Baltimore but make sure I make a stop at Gil's everytime I am back for a visit. My father who is now a Denver resident takes at least ten half cooked pizzas back with him on the airplane for a delicous hometown treat. A northeast Baltimore landmark for sure. I was so puzzled when I took my first bite...I expected so much more, I really did but it was so disappointing. I read such great reviews , I was excited to try it out and I really had high hopes. But it felt short. I had the meat sauce, which...was not good. Really it wasn't. The ground meat had a funny taste, no flavor at all. The cheese and the sauce were ok, not as bas as the meat, so I could have had a slighty better experience if I had ordered cheese only. The crust was just plain, but it was soft, and I didn't mind that at all, just that I wanted the flavor and the experience other yelpers had mentioned. And I didn't get it. The pie, although medium size, was enough for two people. My bf thought it was ok, just not fantastic. But he didn't seem to have the bad experience I had. So maybe my palate is a little too finicky. On the plus side, the service was good, I only stayed for a few minutes since I ordered over the phone. The guy is friendly and polite. But that's not enough to bring me back. read more

I've been coming to Gil's since I was a little girl and my dad knew the owner and the memories are as awesome as their pizza. Gil's is very unique in the sense that even though it has changed hands, the quality and flavor has stayed the same. My kids are all grown now but they still get excited when I say we're gonna get Gil's Pizza for dinner and we almost always get 3 pizzas - 1 Meat Sauce, 1 Pepperoni and 1 Half Mushroom Half Sweet Pepper Strips. You won't find any scales being used to measure the fresh mounds of mozzarella they pile onto the pies, they don't skimp on any ingredient here and I have yet to find a pizza anywhere that compares. The pies only come in 1 size - 12" but trust me, each one is filling and they don't take credit cards which may seem a little frustrating to some, in the long run that means the cost of business doesn't get passed on to the customer and they have punch cards - Buy 10 Pizzas Get 1 Free, plus if you buy 3 pies you get a free 2 liter of soda. Nothing fancy here, just an awesome pizza shop run by a bunch of guys who know their craft. You know a place is famous when every single time you check in via Facebook you get a bunch of comments from friends reminiscing and now finding themselves in the mood for a Gil's Pizza of their own. This place really is as good as people say it is. I have lived in the Hamilton area and passed this place on the way to work sometimes. Kind of looks like a sketchy hole in the wall place or a bar. And it's right next to a school, so parking can be a pain sometimes on busy nights. It's worth circling the block though if you have to. i have never had a problem parking...but I could see how one might. This is one of our favorite pizza places. The neighborhood is a little rough; but this is truly a hidden gem that is worth the trip. One of our favorite pizzas is the double dough (extra thick crust) with meat sauce; the sauce is zesty and not too sweet. We started going to Gil's about 4 or 5 years ago and it's always been the same 2 friendly guys who are take the orders and make the pizzas. Even though I feel like pizza preference is a highly personal thing that makes it almost impossible for two people to like the same pizza, I think this is a great little pizza place, that is totally worth a try!! read more

Gil's ain't bad. I don't love it like my husband, who will drive almost 7 miles for one of Gil's pies, but I don't complain when he does. Based on the other reviews we tried Gil's Pizza tonight for the first time. The pizza was excellent. We got a cheese and a pepperoni pizza and they were both really good. I liked that the pepperoni is under the cheese. The pizza had a lot of cheese on top, the sauce was good and the crust is a little bland but nice and crispy. The cook was very friendly. The only downside is the location which isn't in the best area and parking is tough. read more
