The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.

My hubs and I flew into town on quick business and every quality restaurant was closed. We decided on the Waffle House because the town had absolutely no where to dine. We pulled up and the diner, and i immediately began to cringe in the parking lot. The hubs and I were starving, so we went in anyway. OH MY GOODNESS was my immediate thought. The waitress who greeted us was the sweetest and most pleasant little lady you'd ever want to meet, so of course I'd never show my distaste for where she worked, but I felt bad that the owner has anyone, employees or patrons working and dining in these conditions. When I say OUTRAGEOUS, I do mean a mess! The floor and baseboards were hideous, the tables were dingy, THE MENUS!!!! Oh gosh! Gross. It was equivalent to an old dusty gas station bathroom. I couldn't. I always carry tea bags in my purse because I like a certain tea; I asked for a hot water and when the cup came it was dirty, had an old lip print, and floating particles throughout. I didn't have the heart to tell the waitress it was a mess, so I simply asked for a to go cup instead and that worked out. As for food options: shut the front door. I ordered grits and an over hard egg. The grits were old, lumpy, and had been around since yester-year. The hubs ordered the same with raisin bread. They said you got it and that is exactly what I got! I definitely recommend this place if you like simple meals.
