We had a wonderful brunch at First Watch while spending time with family from out of town. The food was excellent across the board--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Everything we ordered tasted great and definitely lived up to the hype. While the service was a bit slow at times, our server was very attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of, which really helped balance things out. First Watch has stores in several states. We are from Scottsdale, AZ, and there are several in that area. This place looks great and is always crowded. In this case that is likely because there are not many "breakfast" places in the vicinity. "Looks" can be deceiving. This First Watch is not up to the standards we are accustomed to experiencing. Service is slow - the staff appears to be frantically trying to serve the customers even when several tables are NOT occupied. There are always people waiting to be seated even when many tables are vacant. The food was portioned correctly, but the "skillet" we ordered was largely "fillers" like potatoes and lacked the "substance" of the advertised item. One thing they did perfectly were the two poached eggs! The toast was barely toasted, and we were forced to request more butter. The next order with a ham slice was incredibly "tough" and was sent back. The second was as advertised. One order came out "cold" and was sent back. Now the "piece de la resistance": their practice is to bring each order to the table separately. In our visit, that was 7 minutes apart, meaning one party must start eating before the others, or wait and allow their food to grow cold. We complained of this and were told, "we do that because we were having too many complaints of cold food, so we do it this way". That is a fatal error for a restaurant! Other First Watch stores do not have that problem! That's why "warming lights" are made! We only review very good and very bad establishments. We allow mediocre to take care of itself. This place could do much better. New Management would be a start...someone who understands the restaurant business! read more

Went to First Watch at around 10:30am on a Saturday. Wanted to take myself out on a little brunch date. I got there and there were only a couple parties waiting. I asked the hostess how long the wait would be and she said 10-15 minutes, which isn't that bad at all. I sat down to wait and ended up waiting 30 minutes. I watched 2 two person tables get sat that came in after me and did not have a reservation. Once I got to my table I ordered my food and coffee right away. After I ordered, two tables next to me were seated, they waited a bit before they ordered. And right on cue, their food came out before mine. Then my waiter came to tell me that the kitchen was backed up and they were working on my food. I'm not an idiot, clearly they forgot or didn't care about my order. I have worked in the restaurant industry for about 10 years and it does not matter if it's one person or ten people. All should be treated the same. I will never be going back to a First Watch and they really need to work on their service practices because this is not okay. read more

It's a healthier breakfast with reasonable prices. The place is usually crowded. The yogurt fruit bowl and oatmeal that I ate on 2 separate occasions were fresh and filling. They also both came with a muffin. Coffee and water were both really good. Service is cool but they seem to get a little tense about servicing single diners and have a tendency to rush people out that come in by themselves. On what would have been my third time visiting, I walked in by myself and the hostess was telling everybody else that it would be a thirty minute wait. Instead of telling me individually that it would be a thirty minute wait or even greeting me with a "hello how many?" Brunch here was great! We went on a Friday around noon, wasn't too busy and was seated immediately! Our service was excellent, waiter really attentive. We had a booth by the window with a really nice view of outdoors. I had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! These things were massive and probably could have had one! They had a really savory taste! I also ordered soft scrambled eggs and they were cooked perfectly. Orange juice was very tasty! My husband had the turkey burger. He had already started eating before I could get a pic. I put myself on the online wait list, and while this was unneeded, if we'd gotten there a little later it might have been worthwhile as the place did fill. I was a bit disappointed that the menu made it hard to get a salad without meat in it or an avocado toast without eggs, but I found something I wanted; a chia pudding with a side of almond butter toast. Both items delivered on flavor, with a sweet chia pudding having plenty of fruit and the toast adding a contrary flavor note. My tea made for a good start to the day. Realistically, I'd probably give it a star less if it were in an area with more competition, but I was glad to have found something worth eating in Shreveport. read more

***SKIMP-FLATION ALERT*** I've ordered the traditional breakfast -- scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes -- many times at many First Watch locations, and they do a nice job. However, this time around, the scrambled eggs were...weird. They had clearly just come out of the pan, as they were piping hot, but there was a trickle of liquid (raw egg, I assumed) dribbling off of them, and the texture was just...very strange. Not at all what I expect from scrambled eggs. When I mentioned this to our (polite, attentive, and personable) server, he informed me that these were "cage free eggs," aka eggs that arrived in liquid form. Aka...NOT. REAL. EGGS. What I needed to do, he told me, and immediately offered to do, was to request "cracked eggs," which apparently is what First Watch now calls actual eggs that, you know, arrive in the kitchen in an actual shell rather than a carton. My scrambled "cracked eggs" were delivered promptly, again piping hot, and this time at least tasted how eggs should taste, since they were in fact now ACTUAL EGGS. However, they had made zero effort to scramble them, resulting in an odd mix of cooked yolk and white. Frankly, although everything else was just fine -- atmosphere, service, other food, etc. -- I was APPALLED that FIRST WATCH, of all restaurants, has decided to save a few bucks by cutting corners like this. This is not Denny's (which no longer appears to be serving anything remotely resembling real food), and even Waffle House uses real eggs that you can watch them crack in the kitchen right in front of you. This is FIRST WATCH, which advertises itself as all things fresh, organic, artisanal, quality, yada yada, and course CHARGES ACCORDINGLY. Frankly, this experience has completely ruined any desire of mine to return to any First Watch, since now apparently I need to be on the lookout for cheap substitutions. I can make better eggs at home for less effort, and my coffee is better too. So long, First Watch. read more

I walked into this spot on a whim looking for a brunch place at 1230 that wasn't closed to closing. We were greeted immediately and told there was a 30min wait which was fine for us. Once we sat down after already scrolling the menu I went for the breakfast tacos and seasoned potatoes. I took a chance on the Kale tonic since I'm not really into green drinks and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious and refreshing. My sister had the purple haze which tasted like it smelled, lavender. Not something I would try again. We ordered a side of monster bacon but there seemed to be an issue with it and it never came out. My daughter ended up getting her hot cocoa free for the inconvenience. Overall the food was great, service was ok. It honestly seemed like all the servers had attitude but it was the end of the day for the restaurant so we just chalked it up to a long day for them. read more

My family was visiting from Georgia. The most important person's order at the table was wrong. She ordered NO CHEESE on her ferttata because she is lactose intolerant. The waiter, Drew, was very attentive, and he wrote NO CHEESE for the order. Apparently, someone in the kitchen can't read, and was very slow (adding insult to injury, as we waited over 30 minutes for all of our food to arrive. I ordered the advacado crab toast, and it was perfect. Not sure what my other guest had but they enjoyed the maple bacon and pancakes and some other type of eggs. My husband had the Florentine eggs Benedict with an additional smoked ham; he loved it! We had a choice of potatoes and salad so what we did was ask for half and half! The establishment needs trained on service/medical alert animals (yes we have all the required paperwork and Doctor's paperwork) wife's food came out cold, could not eat it, unfortunately sometimes you just don't want a new plate done up and sometimes you do, she did not. Eggs are regular eggs nothing to write home about and you can get them made how you want. Tried the pork sausage link. It was a average single link of sausage. The chicken sausage patty is ok- has a good spice to it. Coffee is great. That's what I am excited about when I go here. They give you a pitcher of coffee and you make it yourself. Potato's are good. The potato hash is pretty good as well. What was terrible were the grits. I'm a grits fanatic and they were the blandest grits I've ever tasted in my life. First visit and very impressed! Decor and mixed seating is inviting. Wood and metal give it a rustic yet industrial vibe. Clean and very busy! Have to say every staff person was on it, moving from tasks to keep things going. Our server I think was the manager as she was doing a few different things but very much on top of it all and so friendly. I opted for the blackberry iced tea - fabulous! The menu has some interesting healthy options for those who want that. A few lunch items too although we opted for breakfast where there are an abundance of choices. I got the smoked ham and gouda omelet and added avocado. It was fabulous! The potatoes are fried with onion and just amazing. Artisan grain bread is served as toast with peach jam. Truly one of the tastiest breakfasts Ive had in a long time. My husband had the Works omelet with cheese grits and loved his too. My mother in law had a very large pancake with blueberry topping and grits, so large she had to bring half home. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is so hit or miss. Yes, they were busy, but you have 3 people seating tables. You need a runner to bring the food and get items requested. If we get our food with waffles, I expect the butter I request to be delivered long before I'm through eating and the waffle gets cold. If you bring coffee, a cup would be nice. This place used to be so good. However, I have been TWICE in the last year. Once sometime in February (with my husband) and then again in October (with my mom) and BOTH times we waited so long we had to ask if we had been forgotten and then continued to wait, where eventually we got up and LEFT! No one came to our table, no one apologized for the wait, no one tried to correct the issue or seemed to care that we left. I understand being busy (which they were not and we sat right away) I also understand being understaffed (also not the case due to server/customer ratio.. again, they weren't busy). So I can honestly say we were ignored or the service is just that poor. I'm ready for another restaurant to take over this location. What a waste. read more

This place is a great place for brunch!!. I have been here a few times and every plate I have ordered has been delicious, even from their healthy menu. One of my favorite dishes is the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and my favorite drink is the Purple Haze. It is a popular place so it can get pretty busy, even then, the longest we have waited for a table has been about 30 min.
