I stopped by this spot because it looked pretty big, I was craving some oysters, and it was just across from the Witches House. We went during October when Salem is super crowded. Luckily, the restaurant wasn't packed when we got there. We were seated right away, placed our orders, and the food came out fast. The food was okay, but nothing to write rave about. I'm taking off 2 stars because when the bill came is when I found out they automatically add a 20% tip during October. The food and service didn't really justify that kind of tip.

Randomly stopped here for lunch during our annual trip to Salem. Inside was a bit crowded so we decided to go with outside dinning, even though it was chilly outside. To drink I got the witches' brew. I was disappointed it was served in an ugly plastic cup, but got over it, because it was tasty and sour to my liking. We shared wings and spicy beef dumplings. The wings were fresh and had a nice crispy crunch to it. The dumplings were in a chili oil and could of been spicier but were still very tasty. The food came out quick and the waiter did a good job. I wouldn't mind coming here again.

Why Ginger still includes Cajun for its subtitle when most of the Cajun dishes have been gutted since the last time I was here, was looking forward to ordering the Sausage Shrimp Gumbo?

We order bao and chicken wings. The plain wings were crispy and flavorful. I had the pork bao the bread was soft and the pork was seasoned beautifully. The onion rings were crunch and fresh served With ranch sauce. There is something for everyone here. Plenty of seating. Clean. The service was very slow service but there was only one server for inside and an outside seating. Parking is difficult. They do not have a parking lot. On street meter parking 25cents for 10 minutes.. A little pricey. I came here because I missed having bao.

Avoid this place if possible, they literally use packaged noodles and pass it off as house made. Up charged on there horrible service and added a 20% gratuity for October . Our bill for 2 people for 2 bowls of " chicken noodles" two beers and chicken wings was 100 bucks ridiculous.

I was in Salem w/ my sis & her bf. We decided to eat here for a late lunch. There was a long wait for tables inside so I said let's sit outside. I thought the fire pit towers would be turned on but they weren't. It was too cold outside & we didnt want to wait b/c we were hungry. The waiter was ready to go. He was very attentive! I ordered a miso soup to warm up & California rolls. My sister ordered the spicy beef dumplings steamed & 2 alcoholic beverages. Her bf ordered chicken wings & 2 alcoholic beverages. We were keeping it light. I didn't want to be overstuffed walking. In Salem there's a lot of walking. Everyone tried each others dish (except the miso soup of course). The spicy beef dumplings were ok. They weren't even spicy & it was a little oily to my liking. The chicken wings were pretty good. I'm a flats kind of girl so I tried one. What's your fave flats or drums? lol. The chicken wings were extra crispy along w/ a juicy inside. My miso soup was ok it needed more seaweed. The sushi was alright, too. It was stacked up w/ avocado & crab meat. Yum! I can usually eat a sushi roll in one bite. I couldn't w/ these. Overall, nice spot!

On my last day in Salem, I had a very bad headache with nausea so for dinner I wanted ramen or just a warm soup. Walked to Ginger which is just down the block from our hotel. I guess the food is so-so because there was not wait time, got seated right away. We ordered a chicken fried rice and a pork ramen. I enjoyed the warm broth but ramen tasted like packaged noodles. Fried rice was good tasting. Service was quick & friendly. We sat by the window so we got to people watch! We watched 3 ladies dressed as witches from Hocus Pocus taking photos with everyone. Ahhh, Salem miss you already! Ginger has a bit of flavor for everyone from Chinese food, Japanese food, Cajun food. If you want variety it is here at Ginger!

Service was great! The food was delicious! The location was awesome. It can use some sprucing up but I would still recommend this restaurant. I loved the shumai and lobster. I walked out happy.

The challenge with Salem in October is trying to find a place to eat that doesn't have a line around the corner. So when this place had no lines I figured it was either a hidden gem, or there were no lines for good reason. This place needs to decide what it is. Is it a restaurant, is it a hip place for overpriced drinks or is it a sports bar? It's truly unclear. What is clear is that overall it specializes in generally bland food. I hope there is an understanding of preparation and even an attempt at presentation, the lack of flavor made me wonder if I was starting to come down with Covid. (For the record, no, I don't have Covid; the food is just that tasteless.) The two stars are for the polite and attentive wait staff, and the fact that the lack of a line made it quick and easy to get into on a rainy October afternoon. The ability to sit down for a meal is something ... just don't expect anything to write home about.

The service was great and our server was amazing. The ambiance was a little bar feeling with lots of wood tables which I liked. Now let's get to the food.. Pork buns: the pork was cooked perfectly and the bun was nice and soft. The sauce went well everything and it's a great starter dish. Spicy Kimchi Ramen- this consists of pork belly, pickled mushrooms, kimchi and fried garlic. The ramen was really good and had a lot of flavor with just the right amount of spice from the kimchi. Perfect for a cold day! Colonel Sanders Ramen- this had a pork broth with fried chicken and was delicious and moist. Also had corn with Vermont butter which you can taste through the bowl. This dish was the highlight for me and I'll definitely be back again. If you're in Salem, MA and are craving ramen then be sure to give this place a try.

This is a unique establishment in Salem, as it is two restaurants in one: Bambolina for pizzas,…read morepastas, and Italian fare, and Kokeshi for ramen and more Asian options. After seeing the price of the wood-fired pizzas and their actual size as they came out of the oven and were delivered to tables around us, my friend and I decided to stick with the Kokeshi side of things. We ordered an appetizer of Shishito peppers, which were outstanding: I did not know what to expect and whether they would be spicy or not, but these were perfectly roasted with soy, ginger, and scallions. I would 10 out of 10 order these again. For my main dish I ordered the spicy white kimchi ramen, which had Tokyo wavy noodles, roasted pork belly, cilantro, corn, spicy marinated mushrooms, scallions, fried garlic, and cilantro oil. Wow! What a flavor combination! From savory to spicy to sweet to smooth to crunchy and crispy. Overall it was a pretty perfect meal. In terms of the atmosphere, we sat at a high table in the middle of the restaurant, which gave it a more family atmosphere vibe, sitting right next to others. What I particularly loved was the 90s hip-hop soundtrack playing in the background. Notably, it was not blaring loud so that you had to yell to hear the person across from you (always a pet peeve of mine at restaurants). Our server was friendly and checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. This was my first trip to Kokeshi but it will not be my last, as it has become my new favorite restaurant in Salem.

A really nice ramen place to visit on cold winter days!…read more We've been here a few times in the past year and we're always pleased with the quality and flavor. We've ordered tonkatsu ramen, spicy Tokyo ramen, takoyaki, gyoza, the matcha latte, sake, calpico, and likely some other things over the visits and it's also delicious. The restaurant has an authentic feel and is decorated with a lot of vintage Japanese memorabilia and posts and such, it lends a nice vibe to the food. Service is a bit laid back, all orders are done via an app or website and the servers simply bring the food to you. But they are attentive with water refills and bussing of tables so it's not lazy. Nowadays, there are…read morefewer Cambodian restaurants in the area, so I make it a point to enjoy a delicious meal from here when I can. Every dish from here is a HIT! From the first bite, you can tell that this family owned spot puts their love and soul into every single dish. Their "Mekathang" AKA flat rice noodles are a family favorite. The sauce is savory with a rich consistency that coats every noodle. I usually get the beef and seafood option which comes with tender pieces of beef and juicy pieces of shrimp. The vegetables that come with the dish are always fresh and crisp, especially the baby corn. Their "Bai Sach Mon" AKA crispy chicken & rice is a go to comfort meal too. The chicken comes out fresh and crispy with a delicious sweet chili sauce on the side. Make sure you try their "Bai Cha" AKA fried rice!! It's so comforting and filling. If you're looking to try a more traditional homestyle dish, I recommend the "Cha Kreung" which is a lemongrass paste stir fry. You can choose either beef or chicken, both of which come packed with flavor that make this dish superrr comforting. They make this dish just like my yeay (grandma) does and it takes me back home. If you're looking for quick finger food, their Slap Mon AKA Chicken Wings and their "Kdam Roum" AKA Crab Rangoon Rolls are fresh and crispy every single time. Their "Hot Nu Mon" sauce for their wings is my absolute favorite, it's a spicy, citrusy, and slightly salty sauce that takes the wings to a whole new level. Be warned, this sauce is addicting! Their crab rangoons are packed full, they never skimp out, and they have a slight sweetness that makes them some of the best I ever had in my life. In addition to the food being delicious, their prices are really affordable which I understand must be difficult to maintain in our economy right now. On top of that, the restaurant is run by a family team with a husband and wife duo at the forefront of operations. They also make it a priority to be engaged with the community by giving back and serving food at local events. How could you not want to support? Their service is always amazing and super friendly. If you ever stop by while one of the owners, Peter, is at the register, you can tell right away that he cares for each and every customer that walks through the door. The rest of the staff never hesitate to help walk a customer through the menu if they're unfamiliar with dishes so don't be afraid to ask questions. Space is limited but if you do choose to dine-in, the staff are very attentive and kind as well. I really can't recommend this spot enough!
