Over the course of 9 years, I've been wanting to check out Ginger, having lived in other parts of Colorado, and swiped through the Asian restaurants in Grand Junction, I just never found the time to come here and sit, so today, as I pulled into town half a night early, I had this great opportunity to check out the Ginger Orient finally! Quick rating: Interior Space & Design: they really spent the effort giving this place a modern clean appeal, everything was glistening and bright. Service: servers were quick to take order Menu: on an island like Grand Junction, to have so much variety is shocking, they have Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese the whole shabang! Food: ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, enjoyed it, but wish it had less peanuts, no water chestnuts, no carrots, and would just stick to scallions, red dry chilli peppers and Chinese Worcestershire sauce. Ordered the hot and sour soup, Amen, had a tough week, caught a cold, and coming into town for several hours of layover, this soup really does the trick. Ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls, on there I'm going to give 'em a 3/5 stars because the soy wrap was a bit too hard to chew. Ordered the Mongolian Beef a little on the saltier side, give it a 3.5/5, still enjoyed it with some rice, I was hungry. So, overall score 4/5; is it worth stopping by if you are in town? A definite yes, with all the variety, you have a one stop shop to select the Asian dish that you've been craving for that week. read more

I ordered 1.general chicken - it's probably the best I've ever had ! 10/10 Shrimp fried rice - amazing taste ! Nothing went well it's usually pretty good but tonight it was terrible chicken and snow peas were bland. Szechuan beef was dry and not really cooked all the way through. I guess I don't know and my sesame chicken was dry and was not left in long enough so it was just very Displeasing tonight read more

We have only been here to pickup takeout- during the COVID era. Grand Junction, surprisingly, seems to have a paucity of good Chinese restaurants. We avoided Ginger partially due to its location, as it's kind of lined up with diesel mechanics and cell phone stores. Despite the external appearance, they serve up solid food, generous portions at reasonable prices. It might not compete with Chinois on Main, but, so far we have found it to be the most dependable Chinese food around. read more

Dinner with my family is always challenging. But after the recommendation from Xena at Holiday Inn we decided to give them a try. All was great!! We visited around 11am on a Sunday. Service was fast and very friendly. This is the cleanest and most upscale oriental resturant that I have personally visited in GJ. The food was flavorful! I am not very familiar with a lot of oriental dishes, but the good ol' fall back of Orange chicken and Sesame chicken was great! Thai tea was very enjoyable! First, please STOP calling your self oriental, it's not proper. Unless you're referring to a carpet or salad. We fought enough not to be called oriental. Change the oriental, the word ginger is sufficient enough to know it's an Asian item. No white people will call their restaurant with a ginger in it. Stop trying to make more than 2-3 specialty, like Vietnamese, Chinese. If you're gonna make pho, try putting a few anise in the broth, and taste a few pho dishes in Denver and compare to yours, and please leave the hoisin sauce and sriracha on the table. I realize it's western slope and some of these folks might not have gone pass the Eisenhower tunnel to eat in Denver, but that's why it's important to make it really good, so that they can begin to love different food then burgers. Not that there's anything wrong with burger if it's beef. One star for being here and having the courage to open an Asian restaurant. Second star, the place is clean and workers are attentive. The rest, just a reminder that there are real food eaters that come for the taste, not because it's an Asian restaurant. We want real authentic flavor, whether it's Vietnamese or Chinese. 6-14-22 so, I haven't had Chinese in a while... I've lived in major cities ... somebody recommended this place. So, after a LONG day at work , I ordered beef and broccoli, no carrots, add snow peas. ( the lady didn't even know that carrots came with the dish?) I had to tell her to look at the menu. !!?? I got it to go... when I got home and opened up the beef and broccoli ... it smelled like puke and the beef looked like bad pork. ( about 4 snow peas!) I took one bite and gave the rest to my dogs. I love plain, sticky rice and even that had no flavor and wasn't 'sticky!' I will NEVER go back and I would recommend anybody who has actually eaten decent or even good Chinese? to avoid this place like the plague. It was awful. and my expectations were low anyway? Don't go there unless you have your ID even if everyone in your party is over 60 They refuse serve you alcohol , the food is cold the service is bad on weekends, Not friendly,,,,, and they weren't busy,,,, Another person in our party showed them her ID and they refused to serve her as well and said that's not her because her hair is gray now, and when her drivers license was taken, it was brown. Won't return to this place used to visit very frequently but the last few times we've been there the service hasn't been that great the food hasn't been that good, and after this weekend, they lost our business. read more

I'm such a harsh critic when it comes to Asian food, so when a restaurant receives my stamp of approval it was no easy feat! Let's start with SUCH YUMMY FLAVORS. I got the combo plate with the beef broccoli and the spicy shrimp. I think that if anyone is to go there the combo meals are the best option because you get 2 choices of food, rice, soup/salad, and an egg roll and a cheese wonton. The flavors of both the shrimp and beef broccoli were SO good, but I will say that the shrimp was not spicy at all. Also if you're going to order the fried rice, it looks nothing like the picture. The picture has shrimp and peas and other veggies mixed within the rice but the fried rice that they served us had nothing of this sort... BOO! Other than that I loved the flavors of the food and I thought that I got a good portion for the amount that I paid. read more

For a restaurant with Ginger in it I'd expect more flavor. The food was fine enough, but better with salt, hot mustard, or soy sauce. The proportion of entree to rice seemed a little off to our family. We could have used some extra rice for our meal. We ordered two entrees to share between two adults and one kid. We only got two fortune cookies for three people. Seemed a little weird, but then we had to ask for a third plate...for our kid. The small bowl of rice doesn't come with a serving spoon; didn't seem like it is made for sharing. Just seemed weird as every other Chinese restaurant I've ever been to, the meal is often times shared family-style. For the prices it seems like one should be able to share. I waited for this place to open with high hopes. And - so far, I am not terribly impressed and this makes me sad. We started with the spring rolls. They were Vietnamese - ish. There was meat in the filling along with carrots, bean thread noodles, and other veggies. They were crisp and not to greasy, but underseasoned. And they were served with a sweet and sour sauce as opposed to a more Vietnamese nuoc cham. I had the pho - not a lot of options for this in GJ - and this disappointed. The broth was vastly underseasoned (both for salt and for spices like star anise, cinnamon, cloves, fennel, cardamom and coriander - none of these felt present). And it wasn't beefy. The noodles were not bad and there were plenty of beansprouts - which was a point in their favor. The raw beef was cut too thickly. But - no sriracha, hoisin or fish sauce on the table. I got a tiny plate with a dab of hoisin and sriracha - they told me I could ask for more. But - the bottles, please! My husband had the Vietnamese grilled pork chop rice plate. Definitely the best dish we had. The pork chop was thin and nicely grilled and very generously served. The pickled veggies could have been more pickled and the rice was mushy. But the pork was outstanding. Service was nice. The interior is sort of a mix of modern and sterile. But very, very clean. We saw a lot of Chinese dishes served and they looked OK (except for the rice) - but nothing special. We did hear other diners discuss the need for more seasoning in their dishes. We will return to re-try the pho (I have a Facebook acquaintance that thinks it is very good - so maybe my experience isn't normal) and for my husband to try the Chinese side of the menu. read more
