We have been coming here for years, and in 2026 found that there were new owners and a new name, HO palace. The food is still fantastic. One of the best we've ever tasted. We love the orange beef, and pork, fried rice, and barbecue pork, lo mein, and we love the war wonton soup. This used to be our favorite place to stop on our trips to GJ, however, yesterday we stopped and it's apparently changed hands. It was about 2:30 and the buffet was still out so my husband just ordered that but I ordered the Kung Pao off the menu. The hot and sour soup was good and the egg roll was good but the main dish was horrible. The chicken looked like it was dried and really fatty and the sauce tasted of old oil. I eat ANYTHING! Really, but could not eat this. The egg rolls on buffet were cold but other than that my husband enjoyed the jumbo peel and eat shrimp. We will never go there again and it makes me sad. Not sure where to go now in GJ for decent Chinese food. read more

The restaurant itself is very nice in design and upkeep. The service was just fine, nothing to complain about. The food is mediocre at best... which, let's be honest, that's why we go to restaurants. I got the buffet, which yes is dirt cheap by modern standards, at $12.99. However, it also has about 10 or 12 things on it, which include "green beans" and similar such boring options. Worse, the quality was poor. No labels, so hard to say exactly what some of it is supposed to be. There was something that looked like General Chicken. It was... ok. The Lo Mein was literally noodles and NOTHING. There was hot and sour and egg drop soup, which I didn't try. The rest of my family ordered meals. These were all over the board. My wife got Chicken and Brocolli with brown sauce, which was one of the best we've ever had. My son got Volcano Shrimp, which was again one of the best we've ever had. My other son got a "Single Dinner" with Sesame Chicken. This is shown as "Spicy" on the menu and he asked for it to be extra, extra spicy. It literally had NO spice whatsoever. My wife, who thinks "buffalo" sauce is like eating lava, even said it had no spice. Beyond spice, it had almost no flavor. He put MULTIPLE BOWLS of pepper sauce on it to make it edible. My daughter got Orange Chicken, which came with 1/2 an orange. This was a good thing, as squeezing the orange on the chicken was the only flavor it had. All in all, I see no reason to return. We are from Delta and would much rather go to Panda Palace in Montrose, which is cheaper and MUCH better, overall, or to the Grand International buffet in Junction, which is also "meh", but has FAR more options and is only moderately more expensive. read more

They try hard and perhaps they are catering to local taste, but this was one of the least desirable Chinese buffets. I've experienced in my food-seeking lifetime. Saw this on Yelp and decided to eat here. Entrance is a few doors down from their name signage. Parking lot shared by other stores but we found parking right out front. They're so polite. We were shown to a table right away. He had a Kirin beer and I had water. They had quite a few to go orders while we were there and regulars came in to dine. It was nice being in a neighborhood spot. He chose the mandarin beef and I went with the kung pao shrimp. I was sad there were no fish dishes as I had a craving for a Chinese fish dishes. But seafood stand in it was. The rice came in a community container and shortly after the shrimp dish arrived. The server apologized for the wait but it hardly took any time at all. It took longer for the mandarin beef to arrive but we dug into the shrimp while waiting. He actually liked the vegetables in the kung pao sauce and that's remarkable as he doesn't like eating veggies. And the shrimp were a good quantity. Tasty and not over cooked. The sauce was good on the white rice. His mandarin beef was a little saucy for him. I didn't think there was too much sauce but that was what he felt. The beef was in thin strips and I enjoyed it. Not too chewy and had the tang from the sauce to flavor it. He said it was good other than the over saucing. We were just passing through Grand Junction on a cross-country road trip and found this place. The restaurant's staff are so friendly and welcoming, which was really nice after ten hours of driving. The food was very good for the price, and the portions were generous too. I ordered the barbecue pork Chop Suey and received a generous portion of pork. Although the food is okay, they want to charge you extra for steamed rice instead of fried rice, they don't keep the buffet full. Most of all the employees are so unfriendly, they act like they just don't want to be there. Very insincere and treat you less than when you come in to make an order. I've been in there several times now and get the same treatment. I will go back into town to the Grand China buffet. Great value. High quality, fresh chinese food with a modern clean aesthetic dining space and some of the friendliest waiters/staff I've encountered post-Covid. I don't know how they deliver such great food for so little money. The buffet is a great value and loaded with fun dishes. The soups are on pointe. And the $10 lunch entrees are also terrific. They were even willing to consider some substitutions (my wife wanted Brocholi and Kung Pao sauce and tufu, and they said no problem and no extra charge). The food was good, but the service was excellent. For me personally, the level of service one gets when dinning out is a major part of the experience. Some go as far as saying that the chef's emotions can be transmitted into the dish he/she is making. I wouldn't go as far as making that claim, but I can tell you that how one is treated, and the attitude and atmosphere of a restaurant, can make a world of difference. Our waiter had great energy and welcomed us to try out Dragon Treasure for the first time. We ordered some basic stuff like broccoli and chicken, and I would say the pricing and ordering structure is different than other places I have eaten at. If you want Egg Drop soup, it has to be ordered separately or with a family meal that comes with some more stuff. But you can't order just one family meal item, but two. Either way, once we placed our order the food came out fast and I made sure to pay attention to the ingredients, which looked and tasted fresh. Let me first start and say that I am from a very heavy populated Asian community, with some of the best Chinese food around. Dragon Treasure beats the majority of them. We're still new to Grand Junction (and we're lovin' it) but we hadn't found a Chinese restaurant to call our favorite. The reviews on Dragon Treasure looked good and I was seriously craving some Chinese food. The place is sitting in a strip mall, as do so many Chinese restaurants. It was decorated nicely, but it isn't going to win any awards from interior decision magazines. It was neat, clean, attractive and functional. When I walked in I was greeted by a lovely fresh food smell and a pleasant cashier who also seated guests. I ordered hot tea, egg rolls, hot and sour soup, and Szechuan shrimp. I like spicy food, and I had hopes my tongue would find the burn I was creating. Oddly enough, the hot and sour soup was the first to arrive. It was very good, giving me hope for the main course. The egg rolls followed, and they were lucky. Crunchy, crisp, flavorful. The hot tea followed the soup and it was ok. I prefer loose tea and am always disappointed when a restaurant that serves food from a real living culture uses tea bags. Guys, you can do better! Next was the Szechuan shrimp. The dish was beautiful! The shrimp were cooked to perfection, and the veggies were crisp and delightful. However, there were no Szechuan peppers in the dish, and the fish, while flavorful, was totally lacking in heat. I guess next time I'll tell the waiter I want it hot. I got the $11.59 Deluxe Pan Fried Noodles that comes with shirmp, beef and chicken. I was also surprised that it came with a side of rice, too!
