Like the name suggest they are the king of ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was delicious and super satisfying. The egg was perfectly creamy and soft. The pork was a bit too chewy but it was made up by the noodles and broth. Limited interior seating and no washroom, the staff are very friendly.

This place has the best ramen in Pasadena if not most of Los Angeles. The only place in town to serve cold ramen too :) Honored to be the first to have tried their cold ramen. It was so delicious They also have a great selection of vegan and veggie options compared to other spots. Even have Kale noodles available for those who love plant based food. Can't stress enough how great this place is. Much love and appreciation for what this family is putting together out here in my neighborhood :)

    Delicious!!!

This place is amazing! The food was delicious and the service was fast and very friendly. We ordered the King Ramen and it was incredibly tasty. Definitely coming back again!

Delicious and affordable dining with free parking in the lot in front. The decor feels like a Japanese home style restaurant with about 7 tables for dine in. They have take away and party trays available too. My favorite is the King Ramen with tonkatsu and miso broth. They specialize in tonkatsu broth that they actually make in-house, slowly cooking the pork bone for ten hours to get the rich umami flavor. I like my broth hotter in temperature so I ordered it hotter, and it was perfectly piping hot! The portion is big too. Definitely will come back. Hidden neighborhood gem. Friendly service. Support small local business!

This a small family shop with a simple, easy-to-read menu and reasonable prices. Parking can be tricky due to the small full lot, but you can park at the Vons across the street and walk over. I had the tonkatsu ramen and the karaage, the ramen soup was good.

Located in a plaza that sometimes may not have parking. You can do street parking! It's a small shop but never seems too busy ehen i go. I love the interior decoration. Service is quick and polite. Ramen is pretty good! I have had their spicy tonkatsu ramen and regular tonkatsu ramen and both are delicious with generous portions. The chashu is also very tender and super flavorful. Edamame portions are also pretty big but I wish it was salted more evenly. I'd love to try their curry next! I'd say they are a very reliable ramen shop that hits the spot when you're getting ~cravings~

I was feeling a bit under the weather so I wanted comfort food. My first instinct was to go with ramen, but I didn't want anything fancy or wait in some long line and wait to be seated. I wanted ramen NOW! I found King of Ramen to be exactly what I was looking for; close to home, quick, and good! They're located in a strip mall with a small parking lot. Luckily I got the last spot, but it would've been a hassle if I had to circle for parking. When I walked in the store, my first instinct was "whoa it's bright in here". I really don't like fluorescent lighting at restaurants, as it takes the "coziness" out. But hey, I was only there for a quick meal so I tried not to let it bother me. I got the ramen that they were known for: the King of Ramen that is supposedly an umami of Tonkotsu and miso. I gotta say, that first sip was really good! The chashu was slightly over cooked in my opinion where the edges were browned, but I actually preferred it as I'm not a fan of the softer chashu. The egg was spot on! The yolk was soft and runny, and had been marinating in the umami for a while. It was certainly a great bowl of ramen that hit my comfort spot. A good, easy spot to come to when you need a fast, delicious ramen meal. Probably not the greatest date spot due to lack of ambiance, but maybe good after a 6th or 7th date :)

Healthy & savory soups. Their ramen soup is derived from bone broth which is a rarity currently in most ramen restaurants. Nice staff & reasonable prices!

Really good solid bowl of ramen in a casual neighborhood place with a huge plus: Parking! We both had versions of the tonkatsu ramen and it was delicious- rich, not overly salted, toothsome noodles, and my favorite was the thin slices of tender pork with a slight char on it. That added Such good flavor. Ask for the homemade chili oil on the side/ its fantastic! Can't wait to tru some of their other offerings.

Satisfactory food, friendly service, plenty of parking outside. Overall, a great restaurant I would be happy to return to. My only gripe of course are the hard wooden seats (I guess they're a non-issue if you get your food to go).

Ask the Community - King of Ramen Pasadena

    Do they have restrooms?

    Yes, one restroom.

Is the vegetable ramen vegetarian? Do you know if the broth contains any sort of animal product, such as broth or meat?

Hey Marcy, the owner's mom is actually a vegetarian so they develop their own kombu based broth (no meat products whatsoever). We found out because my wife is a vegetarian and she loves this place! Hope this helps.

The prices are generously average and do not take too much out of a budget. Waiting list may take a while due to how compact the restaurant is, however waiting for orders is much shorter! My favourite dish was the Ukramaki Rainbow Roll, smoothly prepared ripe avocados and creamy-sashimi topped with nutty-flavoured sesame seeds. Specific flaws they had with food, was that some of the sashimi was lukewarm and stood out to be bland sometimes. However other dishes made up for the lack of freshness in some after all. Customer service was extraordinary. They are understanding, attentive to your needs, and have clear communication with customers. Occasionally they'd budge in to ask about how everything is going, and there hasn't been a time I've said something negative. In my honest opinion, leaving tips is what I would do to thank them for their service. The vibes are cool! Noise level and background music altogether is usually at a medium, suitable for a casual atmosphere. The brightness is warmly dimmed and isn't overbearingly blinding even if you sit near a light. Overall, my experience was satisfactory and I recommend visiting with friends to dine at.

Both of the ramens were pretty mediocre with salty soup and nothing extraordinary about the noodles unfortunately. Compared to other Ramen shops I've visited, Tsujita didn't stand out as excellent. I can't speak for them, but I will say, if you order the tsukemen and find that you want more dipping broth, that will be an extra charge. Order a regular bowl of ramen if you do not plan to dip the brothless noodles into the broth for each bite. BF and I both tried the spicy tuna bowl ($7.95), chashu bowl ($8.95), and tonkotsu ramen ($15.95). The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. The three items were more than enough for the two of us and a good variety of food. Parking here is horrible at the street level, so head downstairs for the two levels of underground parking.

I know they owned Killer Noodle and brought it back for a day or so during some weeks, but still. I feel like I can partly blame those who can't handle spice, numbing or not, and or people with generally normie tastes. Anyways, enough of that diatribe. Parking can get horrible and fisted here, even though there's parking in the pit. The best bet is to just park at the 99 Ranch Market across the street and walk over. This restaurant also gets super busy too and there's limited tables and seating inside for how popular it is. They did collabs too, like the Naruto one. There were instructions on how to properly eat tsukemen and staff was friendly and polite too. I know they tried to make the ambiance a bit nicer and fancier, but with the constant slew of customers and people, you can only do so much. Since it's a tsukemen restaurant, I always just got tsukemen here. I'd get the spicy chashu tsukemen. Comes with a generous portion of chashu pork and is made with their homemade spices. It also comes with a soft boiled egg, a slice of lime to squeeze in for taste, green onions and a sheet nori. After dipping the noodles, you can ask for soup wari to eat the rest of the broth in. It's a delicious and hefty portion and sorta justifies the $30 for a bowl of tsukemen thing. Flavorful broth with a depth of delicious spices. Nice thick noodles that absorb the broth nicely. I like that you get a good amount of chashu. Adding the lime makes the noodles a bit more refreshing if you get a bit tired of the taste. Spicy doesn't make it spicy at all, but at the very least gave a bit of heat to it. There's other Tsujitas out there, just now a bit farther.

After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.
