Great service, good atmosphere and amazingly one of the best ramen we tried. This is our first time here and surprisingly we never been here? All including their appetizers also delish. Seriously this place need to be more busy. Try them and let me know. Easily the best ramen in la now.

Nice spot! Good was delicious and so was the beer. The gyudon was super gummy and came with a side of miso soup which made me happy because I love miso soup! They also have summer specials starting at 1.99 which was cool!

This is cozy restaurant located in downtown. We were welcomed and got seated quickly by our server. Staff is very friendly and attentive. For starters we had spicy agedashi tofu, this dish has fried tofu topped with very refreshing mashroom sauce. Very delicious! Unagi Bowl - grilled eel and rice. Dish was perfect. Fish was very delicate and cooked to perfection. I thanked in my mind for not overcooking it. Unagi sauce pairs well but may be I'll get it on side next time. This dish came with my favorite miso soup cup ... Yumm!!! My family had spicy ramen and chicken ramen. You can change protein in your ramen. Everyone loved their dishes. I recommend this place !!! Best wishes!!!

First time trying this place since it was close to our hotel. There isn't a variety of ramen broths to choose from. I was really looking forward to a spicy miso ramen but they don't have it. The only broths available were shio, tonkatsu or shoyu. So my husband and I got the spicy tonkatsu. The ramen was okay, we also ordered the chicken karaage. It came with a side of mayo, which I didn't use because I don't like mayo. My husband dressed up the mayo with their spicy sauce and a squeeze of lemon, that made it taste a lot better than just plain mayo. The karaage chicken itself had a great flavor, which I ate plain and didn't need anything to dip it in. Service was quick and the staff was friendly. Their interior had a nice modern decor with a huge mural on one wall. We noticed where we were sitting there was an out of service beverage refrigerator that was off to the side and was used as a storage space (tape and other things). We found that to be an eye sore or oddly placed for visibility to customers.

Sato is the perfect balance between sophisticated and comfortable dining. Staff is friendly. Service is quick. Food arrives piping hot. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so interior seats can be limited when there are large parties present. Use street parking or nearby garage parking. Clean restrooms. Cozy, well-designed interior. Relatively mild noise level. The general vibe is pretty relaxed. Their menu has enough options to provide a variety for different tastes while not feeling overwhelming. A few staple ramens, rice bowls, a plethora of appetizers, and plenty of alcohol and nonalcoholic drinks. There's truly something for everyone. The tonkotsu ramen is a fan favorite, but the yuzu shio ramen is a great choice for those who don't favor creamy broths and want something a little lighter. Their takoyaki is a must-try, while the soft shell crab bun is a little underwhelming flavor-wise. Prices are fair considering the quality and quantity - you will definitely leave satisfied and full. Definitely recommend if you want high-end food without having to eat in a stuffy environment.

The Yuzu shio ramen here is a must try. Very refreshing and not heavy - perfect if you don't want something too rich. Also Not salty at all. A common pitfall for ramen is that the soup base can be packed with sodium but this one is truly amazing. The noodle portion is also huge. I also tried my two favorite appetizers here. The Chawanmushi is tasty and silky. The agedashi tofu is a bit tough but still flavorful. I did ask for non-spicy. Service is friendly here. Closest structure parking is the schoolhouse garage.

Was craving mazesoba so went to Sato House with the family. We usually have dinner early due to our toddler so it wasn't too crowded. It did however started getting busy towards the end of our meal. The interior is modern and sleek. Bright lights and spacious. The restrooms are also fairly clean. They were pretty accommodating with my toddler and immediately brought a bowl and plastic utensils for him. Although I wish they had crayons and paper for him, he kept himself pretty entertained. We ordered French fries for appetizer, which came out hot and was a pretty large portion. My husband ordered the hell ramen and enjoyed it. He even got a second order of noodles. I ordered the vegan mazesoba and the staff was very accommodating with my request for minor changes to the bowl (adding egg and fish powder). The mazesoba was very good. A little on the salty side, but the teriyaki tofu was a great addition. The tofu was crispy but soft on the inside and wonderfully flavored. We ordered chicken tonkatsu and rice for my son which he also ate a lot of. Family and I enjoyed our dinner and would definitely come back. Definitely worth checking out if you're near old town.

I tried their Yuzu Shio Ramen and the broth was nice and light. Perfect for what I wanted that evening. The restaurant is spacious and clean. We got there at a good time as their dinner rush started after we were already seated and ordered. The service was friendly and quick.

Absolutely fantastic, for a second we second guessed picking the best of the ramen houses but quickly realized we did hearing the other tables speaking Japanese! Our tall skinny server was great, atmosphere does that classic Asian blend of Kentucky gas station and bamboo Feng Shui, and menu stretched out to show off more than expected appetizers but less bowls. I suppose when the ramen is real good they can only offer four kinds! We started on a crab pocket, egg omelet roll, and gyozo. That crab was delicious. Three ramen bowls appeared, did spicy on mine. Perfectly seasoned and heated, we all enjoyed ourselves.

Solid spot! Was pretty busy even on an odd time of 3PM on a Saturday. We kind of lingered at the entrance for quite a bit before getting acknowledged (despite the eye contact) which felt weird but other than that, solid food. - Yuzu Shio Ramen $15.99: i liked this! refreshing and light in taste. the egg was perfectly jammy and orange in the center, whilst the chashu pork was nicely charred. generous amount of bamboo shoots as well! Would've liked for the noodles to be more al dente, but would get this again - Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen $17.99: not as spicy nor did it have as much depth in flavor as I expected. I think you can get by with getting the regular tonkotsu and adding your own amt of spice (that's provided on the table) to your liking. - Black Truffle Chawanmushi $5.99: yum! 1 sizeable shrimp and 1 tiny scallop, but a generous dollop of truffle. would recommend if you're a fan of steamed egg If no street parking, there's a parking garage by the train stop that's $1 for the first 2 hours

Overall, this is a great ramen spot, especially since it's so conveniently nearby. We were craving ramen and came across this place while browsing on my trusty Yelp app--so glad we decided to give it a try! We ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and the tonkotsu curry, and both dishes were cooked to perfection and packed with rich, bold flavor. Everything was satisfying and delicious. The service was also a highlight. Since it was our first time, the staff was very helpful with recommendations, and we're glad we took their advice. They were friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The ambiance is nice and very welcoming, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. We'll definitely be back the next time a ramen craving hits. Highly recommend!

Overall thoughts: Okay ramen, lovely ambiance, and friendly, quick service. I tried the Yuzu Shio Ramen since it felt unique and isn't something many places offer. The ramen was good, though not the best I've had. The noodles were bouncy and chewy, which I really enjoyed. I'd describe the yuzu shio broth as simple, light, and comforting. The chicken, however, was a bit tough. Service was solid. The ramen came out quickly, and staff were attentive about refilling water. One thing to note is that after we finished eating, there weren't any staff circulating, so we had to go up to the front to pay.

I flipped a coin and decided to get the yuzu shio ramen. Im glad i got this, its delicious. The broth is light, clean, see through, salty, tangy. the citrus comes through nicely without being over powering. egg: perfectly jammy and lightly sweet noodles: medium thickness, a bit starchy and is salty themselves so each bite without the broth is flavorful too chashu: pretty solid. not overly greasy but some pieces were slightly dry. not bad service was ok aesthetics and layout of the restaurant was very nice! chill and quiet ambiance

The aroma when you walk in is mouthwatering (I was really hungry) but it doesn't smell fishy like some sushi places can. Staff is unbelievably great, super friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu or want recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask what the MP is on omakase, they totally work with what you're looking to spend or based on how many pieces of sushi you want to eat. Now for the real reason to visit Osawa: the food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, perfectly portioned. From the shishito peppers appetizer to the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and shabu; I cannot recommend this place enough! They have plenty of sake options to pair with your meal as well as beer or specialty cocktails if that's your preference. After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.

Once we were seated, we were met with a friendly server who offered recommendations to our party depending on spice levels. I tried their beef fried rice and the portions were huge for the price! I had to get a braised egg and it made for such a great combo. I also tried their chili oil and loved how spicy it was. I wish there was a Noodle St. close to my city!

We ordered their chicken wings, garlic string beans, spicy beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, & beef scallion roll. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering, which I appreciated since I was starving. The soup was packed with so much flavor & had a generous amount of knife cut noodles. The beef rolls had a nice light flavor to it & wasn't dry at all. The garlic string beans were PACKED with garlic, which was delicious. The chicken wings were a bit dry but nonetheless still pretty good. My friends really liked their scallion pancakes & devoured them all. Overall, I would definitely come back if I was ever in the area again. It definitely satisfied my cravings for Chinese food.
