True story! My brother in-law was in town fron Utah for the weekend. Missing New York Pizza, he asked which is the best pizza in Long Beac? I right away told him my favorite by far was Ginos but my husband had a different answer. That afternoon, for lunch, my brother in-law decided to visit every pizza restaurant in Long Beach to eat one regular slice at each one. Got the grandmas slice and the cheesy garlic bread, they were absolutely great!!! It was perfect! The sauce, cheese and basil used on the pizza were very fresh and the garlic bread was extra cheesy and the perfect amount of garlic. Gino's is a staple of LBNY. The food, whether you're ordering a big pasta dish or a regular/topping slice is absolutely delicious. The environment inside is nice for a group dinner, and it's nice that there are ices and gelato inside (even though Ralph's Italian Ices is right next door). The people are very friendly and the ambiance is beach and dinner casual. Takeout orders take usually between 30-45 minutes to arrive, which isn't bad considering they're busy and pasta dishes take time to cook. Salads are also delicious here and they're a great compliment to any kind of Italian dish. I've never ordered seafood from here, but I'm sure it's as good as everything else. My only con is that if you're trying to save a buck, besides the regular slice or two, your bill can be moderately high. read more

Gino's used to be the BEST pizza in Long Beach, and the south shore of LI. After the original owner passed away about 3 years ago his other family members took over and completely changed the pizzeria/restaurant. The long time workers are gone (I think about 3 of the old staff remain) which is really sad. They did renovate the place and updated the bathrooms which was a positive change. It looks better but the quality of food has gone down. The pizza is still delicious but its not the same. I used to love it but I guess now I only 'like' it. read more

The convience of having a pizza place right across the street from the train station is great, so if you want to grab a slice before getting on the train or on your way home - hit them up - but the pizza isn't fantastic. Its okay...but there are definately better slices not too far away. The food was mediocre. I found it to be a little too salty for my taste; but the portions were large. So you could essentially have a lot of salty food. Their salads were really good. And they did a nice bruschetta to start the meal - but they charged you 2 dollars each for additional slices, which I thought was a little weird. So good...not great. Living in Long Beach, I dont eat here unless other people insist. And the parking by ginos is tough when its the busy time, people in Long Beach tend to think its okay to just pull over and wait in front of the restaurant instead of parking like a normal person - basically clogging up the main road. read more

The one star goes to the food, food is amazing. I really hate to do this just because I used to go here all the time as a kid and adult. But today was a terrible experience First I was very hungry and wanted mussels and pasta, so my family and I wanted to dine on the left side of the restaurant. Well the place was hardy full actually pretty empty but whatever we looked at the menu and we figured out the time he was gone what we all wanted He comes back after some time and says can I get you started on drinks, I told him out drinks and added we were ready to order After I said we were ready he just stops and says ... I'll be back My mom laughed sarcastically, like this guy completely ignored how we were all ready the whole time he had been gone the first place. Feeling like a complete burden on this place I got up with my party, went up to our waiter who was by the ice cream side and said we are leaving He looked shocked but whatever I don't and won't spend money on a place that makes me and my family feel unwelcome I don't care how good the food is The guys on the pizza side saw how upset we were and they told us next time to order on the right side of the restaurant We might return This place needs a serious make over on their customer service read more

This was the first place we stopped at when my best friend moved to long beach. It looked busy so why not try? We were really pleased !!! i was mind blown by the pizza it has such a good taste and i prefer it well done. We have only had the slices and there delicious. The only complaint is it is pretty oily. They have a vegi slice too which is really good! The spumoni's are really good as well they taste like a classic. There is one side where u can sit if you pick up a slice and can enjoy it and bring it to your table and another where you sit if you want to dine. There is a lot of room to sit if you just want to pick up a slice which is really a great addition. They have outdoor seating as well which fills up really quickly. needless to say this place gets SOOO busy during the summer. The workers are nice but sometimes they don't keep track of whose next and what not. Sometimes the guys behind the counter will bring you your slices out if its gonna take a little while. Totally worth a try!! Casual attire is totally acceptable here. read more

So I have a serious dilemma, I have been going to Gino's pizza for over 25 years. Suddenly good old mr. Gino passes away, rest in peace and good bless him because he build a solid business that whoever inherited it has been slowly but consistently trying to run it down to the grown, no pun intended... The customer service at best I would rate it a 2 out of a possible ten. What happened to the fresh calzone to order?? Now it has shrunk to half the size and they have them sitting there for as long as all day! Ready for you to order it, so they can slice the top, stuff it w your favorite ingredients and throw it in the oven to warm the outer shell for you to enjoy a cold inside. How about the white slices??? sono scomparsi ( they disappeared). Ask for a bar pie and they look at you like, who tried to kill the godfather!! They serve premaid / re heated pies which by the way they keep under the counter there , where I personally have witness a roach crawl out of!! What's up with the crusty glove guy that grabs the garbage , makes the pizza and grabs them w the spatula and the crusty glove?? And don't leave your food unattended or look away, cause one of these guys in the dinning area will grab your tray w your pizza and will take it away. Worst customer service, I would give them no stars if that was possible! Placed an order for delivery, received the order and noticed there was an item missing so I called back to find out where the missing item was. After speaking to 4 different employees on the phone, arguing what it was that I ordered and them saying that I placed two separate orders then that the orders were sent over separately. I never called and placed two separate orders, they just did not want to accept fault and admit that they had made a mistake. After all the back and forth I was informed that my order would sent right over. After another half hour I received the remainder of my order and noticed my receipt was significantly higher than the previous one I received. We figured out that they added on a 5 item to my bill that we did not order, the delivery guy called the restaurant back and was instructed to bring the item we did not order back with him. I called the restaurant back to review the bill and the manager could not be more rude. He became very defensive and was blaming me that they messed up my order. After going back and forth I finally hung up on the manager and informed him I would not being returning to this establishment. Instead of arguing with your customers you should consider actually listening to them and creating solutions instead of blaming the customer and talking over them. As a fellow manager in the customer service field, I would quickly fix my wrongdoing and offer something else to make up for the inconvenience. This restaurant clearly is not concerned with keeping their loyal customers and needs a lesson in what good customer service is. read more

i just recently ate at Ginos it seems that the food keeps getting worse i moved from 18th ave Brooklyn to long beach and when i found out Gino's was like a Brooklyn slice i was happy. As the years went by the food started to lack the taste of when i first started to come to Gino's back in 2008 what a shame also the staffs attitude has to go it seems they just stopped caring about the food and the people will not be eating at Gino's anymore. for the people that say Ginos slice is great you guys must be smokers that lost your taste buds or something the pizza is horrible. read more

Stopped in a couple of times to get a slice. Pizza was pretty good. Live in the area and when they started delivering I decided to give them a shot them entree selections. I first ordered a chicken parmegan dinner and caesar salad. It was just OK. Last night I ordered veal marsala, pasta primavera w/red sauce and a pecan salad. First, both times I ordered it took nearly an hour to arrive. Last night they didn't put the red sauce on the pasta. I called them at 3:00 to ask what they could so for me. After a few minutes the woman on the phone said they'd bring me a container of the red sauce. Three hours later I called again, two separate people got on the phone asking me to repeat the same story. A man told me he'd send it over. It's now 7:40AM the following day. Never came. The food was mediocre at best to begin with. The pasta was overcooked and sticky. From what I just read from the other reviews, the attitude of the staff is the same that I experienced. Needless to say this is one restaurant I would suggest to pass on. For what I spent on this meal, I could have gone to Matteos and eaten like a queen! read more
