I went to my old Stomping Grounds in Bayside Queens, Horace Harding Expy & Springfield Boulevard, looking for Joe's Pizzeria my old HS hangout but found a hidden gem! Gino's Pizzeria Restaurant good old authentic Italian pizzeria. Quality ingredients, old-school pizza the way it's supposed to be. The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming oh, by the way, you get a discount when you pay in cash! I love eating pizza and I'll try every pizzeria I come across good or bad but Gino's pizzeria has authentic Italian pizza. The food is great. The customer service today was atrocious. Witnessed someone handing over $100 bill to the guy working there, who is also training someone, and he gives attitude right away saying that he doesn't know if he could break the bill cause it's only noon. Not sure what you want a customer to say to that. Also, it was a bulky order so you're telling me you don't have $70 in the register? Just take the money and give the change. Then someone calls asking how many mozzarella sticks are in the small order. The trainee asks the rude guy and he gets ruder. He says "whatever half a tray is". He takes the phone and gets asked the same question and he tells the customer the same answer. "Whatever half the tray they make is". Are you serious? He says the customer said they will call back then goes to the trainer, "they won't call back". Whattttt kind of owner wants this kind of person representing their establishment?? Obviously he has no respect for his job and should def not be training anyone on how to do a customer service job properly. read more

My mother and I like to have our weekly or bi weekly slice at Gino's and we are usually served by Thomas or AKA Tommy who always greeted us with a smile and hot pizza! We were there last week only to discover that Tommy no longer worked there and we were very disappointed to say the least! Thomas was always friendly and catered to his customers. It would be good if he returned to work at Gino's otherwise another worthy pizzeria will be only too happy to snatch him away it would be their gain and Gino's loss if everything worked out that way. I'm not one to rush into writing negative reviews, but after my recent experience at Gino's Pizzeria, I felt compelled to share. First off, the service was great; prompt and friendly, so I'd give it an 8/10. There was also plenty of seating during a Saturday evening. However, the food left much to be desired, especially for the price. Myself and two others visited Gino's Pizzeria for the first time yesterday. We ordered chicken fingers with fries and a Pepsi, penne ala vodka pasta, and a skirt steak on a roll with cheese and onions. For a total of $72, it was really disappointing. The chicken fingers and fries alone were $15, and a small bottle of Pepsi cost $3.25. To be honest, the prices felt totally unreasonable for the quality. To make matters worse, after eating, both my partner and I experienced food poisoning--nausea and stomach sickness. I woke up still feeling off this morning, and then my mother, who didn't know about our symptoms, ate the leftover chicken fingers. A couple of hours later, she was feeling just as sick. At this point, it's pretty clear the food was the cause, and it can't just be a coincidence. Overall, I can't recommend Gino's Pizzeria based on this experience. Overpriced food with disappointing quality and a food safety concern are hard to overlook. read more

I keep trying to give this place another chance and always wind up disappointed. Decades ago this place was one of the best pizza places. Its fallen over the years. I got a pie and it felt too lightly cooked. The crust was doughy and the sauce was too tart. This place used to be one of the best pizza shops in NYC in the 80s and 90s. They're the ones who told me to come in at a half an hour. Really disappointed by the visits I've had with this place. Afternoons are busy. Pizza is great, however the staff at the counter aren't welcoming. They aren't necessarily mean or disrespectful. Young lady doesn't smile, she stares and seems bothered often. Not good pizza! I order two slices of pizza: cheese and pepperoni. The cheese slice was better than the pepperoni, but both was not that great. I paid $3.50 per slice and the quality of the pizza tasted like it was $1. Why would I pay $3.50 for $1 slice? The pizza slices were thicker than I prefer and the flavor of the cheese reminded me of public school pizza. They must've mixed in different types of cheeses and less of mozzarella. The bottom of the pizza dough was not flat. It looked like they rushed while making the pizza. The pepperonis from the pepperoni slice did not taste like pepperoni, it did not have a hint of the spiciness that most have. The pepperonis are smaller than what other pizza joints uses. You would expect them to add more pepperonis, if they're smaller in size. Also they stacked some pepperonis and didn't spread them, again making it seem like they rushed making the pizza. The pizza was not terrible, just not worth $3.50. I feel cheated by this quality of a slice and expected more from a local restaurant. read more

Food: 4.5/5 I've been going to Gino's for over 10 years. I'm personally not a big fan of their pizza but their dishes are spectacular. I've tried many of their dishes from their spaghetti with meatballs, alla vodkas, their salads, their soups, their chicken and eggplant parm, chicken francese, calamari, linguine vongole, mussels, salmon, wraps to even their veal. Their prices have increased a lot the past few years but I always go back for more. If you go after lunch time, they have these homemade garlic bread squares that are unbelievable! Service: 3.5/5 I've been here for lunch and for dinner. Service slows down during rush hour but overall the service is decent. It's usually a young student catering to your dining needs. Some are better than others. Ambiance: 3/5 This restaurant was renovated a few years ago. It's pretty decent for a pizzeria. Very fast casual and comfortable environment. read more

I've been a regular here, stoping here every day to get a slice of pizza before I get home. I'm a loyal customer that never complains. I've seen them get into discrepancies with other customers and act like they just dont care, customer service isn't a priority over here. I never paid any mind since my order is always simple, a plain Cheese slice. Today I watched them put my slice in the oven and flat out forget about it. Even when I tried to get their attention, they would ignore me. When they finally realized, they pulled out my burnt slice, tried to fold the paper plate over it to hide the fact it was burned. When I tried showing the guy with glasses, he acted blind and deaf. I called later to complain about the burnt cracker with cheese (pizza slice) they served me, once again they did not care! I recommend to stay away from any business that does not appreciate their everyday customers!! read more

This is an old stomping ground for me since I grew up 2 blocks away from Gino's. I remember this pizza spot being friendly and welcoming although they were busy, that's why I always went to this pizzeria growing up. I visited as of recently and there is no welcoming atmosphere as there once use to be. If they're busy they WILL NOT acknowledge you until they're ready to address you. I thought this was an old school Pizzeria like I've once known, it's okay if you're busy - acknowledge at least and your customers will feel welcome and they'll be patient. I used to order here but today changed all of that. I ordered the following for delivery: 1 Medium- half extra cheese and half pepperoni/mushroom. Lady says OK and hangs up. We see the pizza, it is a small. BARELY ANY CHEESE. and with half sausage and mushroom. I called to share that they got our order wrong and she says "We usually don't carry medium. It is only small" (She did not clarify this over the phone when I said MEDIUM) Then for the wrong toppings, she goes "well we technically got only one thing wrong (it's three). If you want YOU bring it back to us and we will switch it" and their terrible attitude on top of that just blew this out of the park. Who does that? Who makes a customer who requested a delivery, make them carry it back? Shouldnt they come pick it up, then issue a new pie? AVOID. read more

This place has become a sad place to go to. Not sure if it's under different owner or what. They to use to nice, but they become an unwelcoming place. My last couple of times ordering there was just bad. I ordered over the phone for pick up. When I went there to pick up. The person whom I pick up my order told me they over cook the pizza pies and it too dry. He said he can "remake the pies" if I want. Like I was going to wait another 30-40 minutes there while they make my pies again. I took the over cooked pies and it what dry as freaking brick. I gave them another chance recently and went back. This time I order in person. When I walked in, there was just one other customer that was waiting for her order. There was a young lady there looking at her phone even though she know I was waiting to place my order. I wanted to be nice and waited few minutes while she stares at her phone. After few minutes I realized she was not going to acknowledge me so I said excuse me. She came over to the counter with an attitude (probably because I interrupted her from her phone) and asked what I wanted. I ordered my food and she left. I sat there for about 30 minutes before another guy came over and ask what I ordered. He noticed I have been sitting there waiting for awhile. He said he was sorry I waited for so long. Gave me my order and I left. The whole time I was there, there was no other customers there. Like I said, this place used to be decent. Good atmosphere. Now, it a sad place to go to. They treat their customers like dirt. Only reason I go there is because my kids wants pizza once in a while. And they are closest to me. Time to look for other pizza place. I must say i'm not a fan of the Caesar salad slice, it literally has no sauce on the slice some romaine, some sliced up chicken breast and drizzled olive oil or some kind. definitely no sauce which was upsetting they are quick with the food so you don't have to wait for long and they do take care of everyone quick. I would say the prices are reasonable for a pizza shop these days. I don't know about single slices but I got a huge pepperoni pie for around $20. It is cheaper if you pay cash so keep that in mind! Their slices are huge and will definitely fill you up and their pepperoni is delicious. However, the only downside I would say is that it is a bit hard even freshly eaten. After sitting there for 15 minutes it requires a bit of jaw work. However the flavor is good and I would come back as it is close to my house. read more

Good luck ordering over the phone with Ginos. For a few months now, ordering for delivery has been a nightmare at this Ginos. We order, have the person over the phone repeat the order a few times while we place our order and STILL food is missing or wrong when it gets to our house. The delivery guys end up making multiple trips bringing our order when this could easily be avoided by checking to make sure the entire order is there and correct when it goes for delivery. If this was a one time occurrence I would be able to overlook it, but literally every time we order something is missing upon delivery. When we call, all the person over the phone ever says is "I don't know what happened, sorry." But changes in this system has yet to be made. The two stars are for the food; their pizza is good and I do enjoy their organic and cesar salads. I recommend eating in or going to pick up your food; make sure you check your order so you don't get home to the same problem we've been experiencing. read more

Yummy pizza, absolutely crispy crust with all the toppings and the crust is so crispy. This is a go to treat I have once in awhile. Definitely go to order early and not when they're too busy. Prices are reasonable. Definitely can stand up against all the good pizza shops in Queens. Definitely to go to Gino's the next time you're in Bayside.
